HOT OR NOT: WRAPPING IT ALL UP IN A NEAT LITTLE BOW

GREETINGS FROM SW OKLAHOMA;
FOLKS, THIS IS THE LAST ISSUE OF THE HOT OR NOT FOR 2009. IT HAS BEEN A TON OF FUN SHARING MY IDEAS WITH EACH OF YOU, IT HAS ALSO BEEN A CHALLENGE AT TIMES TRYING TO STAY SOMEWHERE ON THE FAIR SIDE OF THE ISSUES. I SO OFTEN WANT TO JUMP TO THE DEFENSE OF MY FAVORITE DRIVER OR JUMP ON MY LEAST FAVORITE DRIVER AND REALLY YOU CAN'T DO THAT AND AT THE SAME TIME PRESENT A CLOSE TO THE TRUE VERSION OF WHAT IS GOING ON.

AFTER LOOKING BACK OVER THE WHOLE SEASON, IT WAS REAL AND IT WAS GREAT, BUT IT WASN'T REAL GREAT. FOR ME THE BEST RACE OF THE SEASON WAS WATKINS GLEN, AND THAT IS COMING FROM A GUY WHO DOESN'T LIKE ROAD RACES.

I WOULD LIKE TO THANK JORGE AND THE OTHER GUYS AT FOXSPORTS FOR PUTTING THIS IN EVERY WEEK. SPECIAL THANKS ALSO NEEDS TO GO TO FOLKS LIKE KVALUS, TSFAN, VOLFAN, PHOTOGR, SPEEDBEAGLE, JON464, SoCal24 FAN AND ALL THE OTHERS WHO KEPT ME ENCOURAGED AND HONEST AT THE SAME TIME.

THIS IS HOW I SAW THE 2009 SEASON AND MAYBE A FEW OF YOU AGREE AND MAYBE YOU DON'T BUT IT HAS BEEN FUN ALL THE SAME.

NOT:

1. MICHAEL WALTRIP: MICHAEL, LIKE A LOT OF PRO ATHLETES, JUST HUNG AROUND TO LONG. NO ONE CAN QUESTION HIS ABILITY AS A TEAM OWNER OR AS AN "AD" MAN, BUT WHEN HE WAS AT HIS PEAK, HE WAS NO MORE THEN AVERAGE. WHEN I SEE MICHAEL TODAY THE PICTURE THAT FLASHES INTO MY MIND IS ONE OF Y.A. TITTLE, DOWN ON HIS KNEES IN THE MUD, HELMET OFF, BLOOD RUNNING DOWN HIS FACE, SHAKING HIS HEAD IN DESPAIR.

2. DALE EARNHARDT JR.: AFTER THIS SEASON JR. HAS TO DREAD GETTING OUT OF BED IN THE MORNING. WERE HIS PROBLEMS CAUSED BY A LACK OF ABILITY, I DON'T THINK SO, WERE THEY CAUSED BY A LINGERING FEAR FROM THE FIRE A FEW YEARS AGO, MAYBE OR WAS IT THE DISTRACTIONS OF BEING HUNTED AT THE TRACK BY FANS, SPONSORS, AND THE MEDIA, OR WAS IT THE FACT THAT IN AN EFFORT TO SECURE JIMMY JOHNSON A FOURTH CHAMPIONSHIP OR MARK MARTIN A FIRST CHAMPIONSHIP, THAT JR. WAS JUST SHUFFLED TO THE REAR AND TOLD, WE WILL GET TO YOU LATER. MY OPINION IS THAT THIS LAST REASON IS WHAT LIES AT THE BOTTOM OF JR.'S PROBLEMS.

3. KYLE BUSCH: KYLE IS A HELL OF A DRIVER, NO ONE CAN POSSIBLY DENY THIS FACT, WITH 3 WINS AND 13 TOP 1O'S YOU CAN'T ASK FOR TO MUCH MORE. BUT AS LONG AS HIS ATTITUDE IS SUCH AS IT IS I FEEL THAT ALL HE WILL BE FAMOUS FOR OR REMEMBERED FOR IS DESTORING A GIBSON LES PAUL GUITAR AND BEING A CRY BABY. IF THE ATTITUDE DOESN'T CHANGE I FEAR HE WILL BECOME KNOWN AS THE TERRELL OWENS OF NASCAR AND MAY END UP DOING ABOUT AS MUCH PACKING AND MOVING AS T.O.

4. RICHARD PETTY MOTORSPORTS: I DO BELIEVE THAT IF I WAS RICHARD, I WOULD HAVE MY NAME REMOVED FROM THIS COMPANY. IT APPEARS THAT THERE IS NO ORGANIZATION IN THIS OUTFIT AND THAT NO ONE KNOWS FROM MINUTE TO MINUTE WHAT IS GOING ON. WHEN YOU HAVE 4 PRETTY GOOD DRIVERS AND YOU END UP WITH ONLY 2 WINS AND ALMOST AS MANY DNF'S AS YOU DO TOP 5'S , YOU HAVE TO ASK WHAT IS GOING ON HERE.

5. ROUSH-FENWAY RACING: THIS RACING TEAM HAS FALLEN FROM SUCH A LOFTY PERCH THAT IT IS REALLY SAD. THIS YEAR THEY HAD LESS WINS FROM 5 DRIVERS THEN THEY HAD IN 2008 WITH ONE DRIVER. THE 2 TOP DRIVERS, KENSETH AND EDWARDS MOSTLY RODE MID-PACK ALL SEASON , WHERE AS LAST SEASON THEY WERE LEADING THE PACK. AND NOW THEY HAVE LET ONE OF ONLY TWO DRIVERS WHO WON FOR THEM THIS YEAR, JAMIE McMURAY SLIP AWAY IN FAVOR OF KEEPING DAVID REGAN, WHO HAD NO WINS, ONLY 2 TOP 10'S AND 4 DNF'S AND HE DOESN'T EVEN MAKE DECENT COMMERICIALS EITHER. IF THERE IS NOT A BIG CHANGE OVER THE WINTER IT IS GOING TO BE A LONG LONG SEASON FOR THE CAT IN THE HAT.

6. THE CHASE RACE TRACKS: THERE IS JUST TO MUCH OF THE SAME THING IN THE TRACKS THEY ARE RUNNING ON RIGHT NOW IN THE CHASE, WORK ON THE 1.5 MILE PROGRAM AND YOU PRETTY MUCH HAVE THE CHASE KNOCKED . WHAT I WOULD LIKE TO SEE IS : LOUDON, DOVER, SONOMA, BRISTOL, CHARLOTTE, DEGA, WATKINS GLEN, TEXAS, MARTINSVILLE, AND EITHER HOMESTEAD OR DAYTONA, I BELIEVE THAT THESE TRACKS WOULD GIVE A MUCH BETTER VARIETY OF RACING VENUES, 2 HALF MILE TRACKS, 2 MILE TRACKS, 2 LONG ROAD COURSE TRACKS AND STILL HAVE 4 1.5 MILE TRACKS. OF COURSE NONE OF THIS IS GOING TO HAPPEN SO I MIGHT AS WELL THROW IN 1 DIRT TRACK RACE AT EL DORA.

HOT:

1. HENDRICKS MOTORSPORTS: THIS COMPANY REALLY APPEARS TO BE UNSTOPPABLE AT THIS POINT, NEVER WHILE I HAVE BEEN WATCHING HAS ANY TEAM SO RULED THE SPORT. THIS PAST SEASON THEY WON OVER A THIRD OF THE RACES, HAD 75 TOP TENS, AND ONLY HAD 11 DNF'S. THIS MY FRIENDS IS TOTAL DOMINATION.

2. GIBBS MOTORSPORTS: RUNNING A CLOSE SECOND TO HENDRICKS COMES GIBBS, I WAS RATHER SURPRISED BECAUSE THEY DID THEIR STUFF IN SUCH A QUIET MANNER. GIBBS FINISHED THE SEASON WITH 9 WINS, 40 TOP TENS, AND 9 DNF'S, PLUS THEY GRABBED THE "ROOKIE OF THE YEAR" AWARD AS THEY WENT BY.
3. STEWART-HASS RACING: FOR A FIRST YEAR TEAM, TONY AND RYAN DID AMAZING THINGS, GIVE THEM ANOTHER SEASON UNDER THEIR BELTS AND I DO BELIEVE THIS SMALL 2 CAR TEAM WILL BYPASS GIBBS AND BE PUSHING HENDRICKS. IT APPEARS THAT TONY HAS CREATED A WORK PLACE WHERE PEOPLE WANT TO GO AND WOULD RATHER SHOULDER BLAME FOR PROBLEMS RATHER THEN PUSH IT OFF ON SOMEONE ELSE.

4. JIMMIE JOHNSON: PEOPLE WILL ARGUE THAT JIMMIE DOESN'T DESERVE A PLACE BESIDE PETTY, EARNHARDT AND THE OTHER GREATS, BUT COME ON FOLKS, 4 STRAIGHT CHAMPIONSHIPS, 7 WINS THIS SEASON, AND 24 TOP 10'S. I'M NOT SURE WHAT ELSE PEOPLE WANT THE 48 TEAM TO DO UNLESS IT IS SELL HOT DOGS IN THE STANDS AT MARTINSVILLE.

5. DENNY HAMLIN: DENNY HAD AN EXCELLENT SEASON 4 WINS AND 20 TOP 10'S, TAKE AWAY THE 4 DNF'S AND PUT IN FINISHES ALMOST ANYWHERE ABOVE JIMMIE AND WE HAVE A DIFFERENT CHAMP IN 2009. I WOULD SO LOVE TO SEE LESS TIME SPENT ON KYLE BUSCH AND MORE SPENT ON HAMLIN & LOGANO, IT WOULD BE SUCH A DIFFERENCE.

6. MARCUS AMBROSE: THIS NEWBIE IS SUCH A DELIGHT TO WATCH AND LISTEN TO. HE APPEARS TO BE TRULY GRATEFUL THAT NASCAR HAS ALLOWED HIM TO RACE IN THEIR PROGRAM. NEXT SEASON MARCUS IS GOING TO BE A THREAT AT ALL OF THE TRACKS SINCE HE HAS NOW RUN ON ALL OF THEM AND HE AND HIS TEAM HAVE HAD AN ENTIRE YEAR TO WORK TOGETHER.

FOLKS THAT IS HOW I SAW IT AND I HOPE YOU AGREE AND TUNE IN NEXT SEASON TO SEE WHAT I THINK. AGREE OR DISAGREE THIS IS MY OPINION - WHAT'S YOURS.

THIS IS MY OPINION - WHAT'S YOURS

HOT OR NOT: HOMESTEAD -- HISTORY IN THE MAKING

GREETINGS FROM SW OKLAHOMA:
WELL GENTLE PEOPLE WIN, LOSE OR DRAW WE, YOU AND I, WERE ALLOWED TO SEE AND TAKE PART IN A SMALL PIECE OF HISTORY TODAY. JIMMIE JOHNSON AND HENDRICKS' MOTOR SPORTS DID SOMETHING THAT MAY NOT EVER HAPPEN AGAIN. JIMMIE SECURED HIS 4TH STRAIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP AND HENDRICKS FINISHED 1,2, AND 3 IN THE CHASE, NEITHER OF THESE TWO THINGS ARE LIKELY TO TAKE PLACE AGAIN ANYTIME SOON. WHAT WE SAW WAS HOW A GROUP OF 550 PEOPLE CAN COME TOGETHER AND MAKE THE UNBELIEVABLE HAPPEN.
NOW, NO DOUBT I SAW THE RACE DIFFERENT THEN SOME OF YOU BUT MAYBE ONE OR TWO SAW IT THE SAME AS ME, HERE'S HOPING. THIS IS HOW I SAW THE CURTAIN COME DOWN ON THE 2009 NASCAR RACING SEASON.

NOT:
1. MICHAEL McDOWELL: BEING A START AND PARK DRIVER IS BAD ENOUGH, BUT WHEN THE FOLKS ONLINE START BETTING THAT YOU WILL BE THE FIRST ONE TO HIT THE GARAGE, IT IS TIME TO EITHER RETIRE OR FIND A NEW RIDE.

2. MARCUS AMBROSE "LUCK" : I LOVE THIS GUY, BUT LORDY HE HAD THE WORST LUCK I HAVE EVER SEEN AND IT ALL SEEMED TO COME IN ONE RACE. HE HAD A GREAT STARTING POSITION AND HE TOOK THE LEAD FROM JJ EARLY AND SEEMED TO BE ON HIS WAY, THEN LADY LUCK STEPPED IN, FLAT TIRE, BATTERY PROBLEMS , THEN SPINNING OUT. MARCUS IS HERE TO STAY, LET'S JUST HOPE THIS BAD LUCK ISN'T.

3. JOHN ANDRETTI: A LIFE TIME OF RACING EXPERIENCE, AND HE CAN'T GET HIS CAR TO THE PITS WITH A FLAT WITHOUT DESTROYING THE RIGHT FRONT TIRE, FENDER AND WHATEVER ELSE, THIS IS ANOTHER GUY THAT REALLY NEEDS TO THINK ABOUT GETTING OUT OF THE RACE GAME.

4. ERIK DARNELL: WHO THE HELL IS THIS GUY AND WHAT IS HE DOING IN A RACECAR. EVEN I KNOW YOU DON'T STOP IN THE MIDDLE OF PIT ROW WHEN 43 CARS ARE COMING IN ON A YELLOW FLAG PIT STOP. THIS GUY HAS THE HONOR OF CAUSING THE ONLY MULTI CAR WRECK ( MORE THEN 2 CARS) IN THE WHOLE RACE AND HE DID THAT ON PIT ROW.

5. JUAN MONTOYA: DANG FELLOW, THAT LITTLE SIDE BUM WAS ONLY TO ASK YOU NOT TO HIT TONY AGAIN, AND YOU HAD TO GET ALL WHINEY ABOUT IT. DON'T YOU KNOW THAT THE GUY WHO HITS LAST IS ALWAYS THE ONE WHO GETS IN TROUBLE, EVERY KID ON EVERY SCHOOL PLAYGROUND KNOWS THAT. BUT NO YOU HAD TO GO AFTER TONY AND WHAT DID YOU GET FOR IT A 38th PLACE FINISH RATHER THEN THE TOP 5 RUN THAT YOU WERE WORKING ON.

HOT:

1. DENNY HAMLIN: DENNY STARTED 38th AND HE AND HIS CREW WORKED THEIR TAILS OFF AND IT PAYED OFF WITH A GREAT WIN. DENNY HAD SOME BAD LUCK DURING THE CHASE BUT HE WILL BE IN GOOD SAPE FOR NEXT YEAR AND THIS WIN WILL GO A LONG WAY TO BUILD A HEAD OF STEAM TO COME OUT OF THE STARTING BLOCKS FULL SPEED AHEAD IN 2010.

2. JEFF BURTON: JEFF STARTED 26th AND GOT HIS SECOND 2nd PLACE FINISH IN IN THE LAST MONTH, SOME MAY SAY IT WAS TO LITTLE TO LATE, BUT I BELIVE WHAT WE HAVE SEEN FROM ALL OF THE RCR DRIVERS IN THE LAST MONTH IS JUST A PREVIEW OF NEXT YEAR.

3. KEVIN HARVICK: KEVIN IS ANOTHER OF THE RCR DRIVERS THAT REALLY SEEMS TO HAVE GOTTEN A HANDLE ON THE RACING AND I DO BELIEVE WHAT WE HAVE BEEN SEEING IS JUST A PEEK AT THINGS TO COME, KEVIN, JEFF, AND CLINT WILL BE READY TO TAKE THE FIGHT TO THE FIELD WHEN DAYTONA ROLLS AROUND IN 2010.

4. KURT BUSCH: KURT SHOWED TONIGHT HOW FAR HE HAS COME IN THE LAST COUPLE OF YEARS. HE WAS VERY HONEST AND TRUE WHEN HE COULD HAVE JUST BLEW OFF THE SEASON WHEN HE FOUND OUT THAT PAT WAS LEAVING. BUT, NO HE WENT TO PAT AND SAID " THIS IS OUR LAST CHANCE, LET'S MAKE THE BEST OF IT THAT WE CAN. MY HAT IS OFF TO KURT AND THE BREW CREW. GIVE THEM HELL NEXT YEAR KURT.

5. HENDRICKS MOTORSPORTS: 4 BACK TO BACK CHAMPIONSHIPS, A 1,2,3, FINISH IN THIS YEARS CHASE, OLDEST ACTIVE DRIVER TO WIN MULTI-RACES IN A SEASON, AND IT APPEARS TOTAL LOYALITY FROM 550 EMPLOYEES, NOW IF THAT IS NOT HOT I DON'T KNOW WHAT IS.

YES, FOLKS I REALIZE THAT I DIDN'T PUT JIMMIE JOHNSON IN THE HOT LIST, BUT WHAT HE DID IN THIS RACE WAS DRIVE A VERY SAFE CONSERVATIVE RACE, NOTHING TO BE CONSIDERED HOT. BUT ANYONE WHO DOESN'T REALIZE THAT JIMMIE JOHNSON AND THE #48 TEAM ISN'T THE HOTTEST THING IN NASCAR RIGHT NOW HAS TO BE FROM ANOTHER PLANET AND JUST ARRIVED ON EARTH. I HOPE I MANGAED TO GET A COUPLE OF YOUR THOUGHTS IN ON EITHER THE HOT OR NOT SIDE.

THAT'S MY OPINION -- WHAT'S YOURS

HOT OR NOT - THE VALLY OF THE SUN (HOO HUMM)

GREETINGS FROM SW OKLAHOMA:
FOLKS I AM NOT SURE IF IT WAS JUST ME OR IF THE ENTIRE RACING COMMUNITY JUST SORT OF WENT ON CRUISE-CONTROL TODAY, WITH THE EXCEPTION OF A COUPLE OF DRIVERS EVERYONE SEEMED TO BE DRIVING AROUND KILLING TIME. I WONDER IF MOST OF THEM HAVE ALREADY GIVEN THE 09 CHAMPIONSHIP TO JIMMIE JOHNSON AND ARE PASSING TIME TILL NEXT SEASON. THIS IS HOW I SAW THE RACE TODAY AND I TRULY HOPE AT LEAST A FEW OF YOU SAW IT DIFFERENT THEN I DID.

NOT:

TONY STEWART: TONY DREW THE NUMBER 8 STARTING SPOT BUT DUE TO AN ILL HANDLING CAR AFTER WRECK DAMAGE HE DROPPED LIKE A ROCK TO FINISH IN 25th. TONY HELD HIS POSITION IN THE CHASE, BUT HE HAS GONE BACKWARDS RHATER THEN FORWARD SINCE THE START OF THE CHASE.

BRIAN VICKERS: BRIAN STARTED 19th AND DOUBLED HIS POSITION BY THE END OF THE RACE, THE PROBLEM IS HE DID IT IN REVERSE, FINISHING 38th AND ONE MORE TIME MAKING FOLKS WONDER IF HE SHOULD HAVE BEEN THERE TO START WITH.

CARL EDWARDS: CARL STARTED 25th AND MOVED TO A FAIRLY DECENT FINISH OF 16th, BUT THIS HAS NOT BEEN THE CARL WE HAVE GROWN USE TO SEEING THE LAST COUPLE OF YEARS. TAKING CARL'S RUNS THIS YEAR ALONG WITH THE REST OF THE ROUSH TEAMS I HAVE TO THINK IT IS REALLY MORE OF A COMPANY PROBLEM RAHTER THEN A TEAM OR DRIVER PROBLEM.

KASEY KAHNE: ONCE AGAIN A GOOD STARTING POSITION DID KASEY NO GOOD WHAT SO EVER, THE PROBLEMS AT THE COMPANY LEVEL HAVE PUT KASEY IN A POSITION THAT HE DOESN'T KNOW IF HE IS HORSEBACK OR AFOOT, HOPEFULLY HE CAN MAKE IT THROUGH NEXT WEEK AND THAT THEY WILL GET THINGS SETTLED OUT BEFORE NEXT YEAR.

GREG BIFFLE: GREG STARTED 6th AND FINISHED 14th, THIS REVERSE MOVEMENT HAS BEEN VERY COMMON FOR THE ROUSCH DRIVERS THIS SEASON, THE WHOLE COMPANY NEEDS TO BE REVAMPED BECAUSE THEIR PERFORMANCE HAS MORE OR LESS BEEN SUB-PAR ALL SEASON LONG.

HOT:
MARTIN TRUEX JR.: MARTIN IS DOING HIS BEST TO MAKE DEI LOOK LIKE THE COMPANY THAT DALE SR. BUILT. HE IS WORKING HARD TO SET HIMSELF UP FOR HIS MOVE TO MWR AND I THINK HE WILL BE VERY SUCCESSFUL.

JEFF BURTON: JEFF CONTINUES TO PROVE WHAT I HAVE BEEN SAYING ABOUT THE OLDER DRIVERS IN NASCAR, GIVE THEM SOMETHING CLOSE TO GOOD EQUIPMENT AND THEY WILL TAKE IT TO THE FRONT AND MAKE THE COMPANY PROUD.

DENNY HAMLIN: WITH THE ATTITUDE AND DRIVE THIS YOUNG MAN HAS, IN 15 YEARS I CAN SEE HIM BEING CALLED THE SECOND COMING OF MARK MARTIN. WITH 3 DNF'S IN THE LAST 9 RACES IT WOULD HAVE BEEN SO EASY FOR DENNY TO SAY "TO HELL WITH THIS SEASON" BUT HIS PRIDE AND DERTERMINATION WOULDN'T LET HIM DO IT. DENNY WILL CONTINUE TO IMPROVE AND IN THE NEAR FUTURE WILL HAVE A CHAMPIONSHIP OF HIS OWN.

MARK MARTIN: ONE MORE TIME I THINK MARK IS GOING TO BE A GROOMSMAN AND NOT THE GROOM, BUT FOR A 3 TIME CHAMPION, SOON TO BE 4 , TO SAY THIS IS THE GUY I WORRY ABOUT THE MOST SPEAKS VOLUMES ABOUT MARK MARTIN. REGUARDLESS OF THE OUTCOME OF NEXT WEEKS RACE MARK MARTIN IS A CHAMPION IN EVERY SENSE OF THE WORD.

JIMMIE JOHNSON: FOLKS THERE IS NOT MUCH LEFT TO SAY ABOUT THIS GUY, HE GIVES CREDIT WHERE CREDIT IS DUE, HE ACCEPTS RESPONSIBILITY WHEN THINGS GO WRONG THEN SHAKES IT OFF AND GOES BACK TO GETTING IT DONE. JIMMIE IS AS GOOD A CHOICE FOR THE FIRST 4 TIME CONSECUTIVE CHAMPIONSHIP DRIVER AS COULD BE MADE WITH THE DRIVERS WHO ARE ON THE CIRCUIT TODAY.

WELL FOLKS THERE IS ONLY ONE LEFT TO GO AND IT IS NEXT WEEK AT HOMESTEAD, I REALLY HOPE IT IS A LITTLE MORE EXCITING THEN THIS WEEK, BUT EITHER WAY I WILL BE WATCHING AND TAKING NOTES. HAVE A GREAT WEEK AND I WILL SEE YOU NEXT WEEK IF THE LORD IS WILLIN' AND THE CREEK DON'T RISE.

THAT'S MY OPINION -- WHAT'S YOURS

MY CHASE LOOKS LIKE THIS

GREETINGS FROM SW OKLAHOMA:

A COUPLE OF WEEKS AGO TSFAN AND I WERE TALKING ABOUT A DIFFERENT WAY TO RUN THE CHASE, AND I SUGGESTED RUNNING IT SORT OF LIKE A SINGLE EMLIMANATION TYPE THING, WHERE THE CHASE DRIVER WHO HAD THE WORST FINISH IN EACH OF THE CHASE RACES WOULD BE CUT FROM THE CHASE TILL THEY HAVE A WINNER.

THE WAY I SUGGESTED IT BE DONE IS LIKE THIS, FIRST THERE ARE NO POINTS INVOLVED AMOUNG THE CHASE DRIVERS, SINCE THERE ARE 12 DRIVERS AND 10 RACES, THE FIRST RACE HAS TO HAVE 2 DRIVERS CUT THEN FOR THE NEXT 9 THERE IS ONE CUT TILL THEY GET TO HOMESTEAD, THERE WOULD THEN BE 2 DRIVERS LEFT AND 2 SLOTS TO FILL FIRST AND SECOND.

JUST FOR GIGGLES I WENT BACK TO THE START OF THIS YEAR'S CHASE AND STARTED CUTTING DRIVERS, LISTED BELOW IS HOW THE CHASE CURRENTLY STANDS IN MY VERISION OF THE CHASE.

1.
2.
3.
4. JIMMIE JOHNSON
5. RYAN NEWMAN
6. KURT BUSCH 7. JUAN MONTOYA
8. GREG BIFFLE
9. BRIAN VICKERS
10. DENNY HAMLIN
11. CARL EDWARDS
12. KASEY KAHNE

THIS METHOD OF CROWNING THE NASCAR CHAMPION DOESN'T HAVE A SNOWBALL'S CHANCE IN HELL OF EVER HAPPENING, BUT IT HAS MADE THE CHASE A LITTLE MORE INTERESTING FOR ME, AND IT MIGHT JUST BE INTERESTING TO SEE OF ONE OF THE 3 GUYS THAT I HAVE LEFT, MARTIN, GORDON OR STEWART, END UP WINNING THE CHASE.

THAT'S MY OPINION - WHAT'S YOURS

HOT OR NOT: TAKE A DEEP SEAT AND A LONG BREATH AND LET'S DANCE

GREETINGS FROM SW OKLAHOMA:
FOLKS WE KNEW THINGS COULD CHANGE IN A HURRY AND SURE ENOUGH THAT IS WHAT HAPPENED. JIMMIE JOHNSON GOT THROW'D THE FIRST JUMP OUT OF THE CHUTE AN SO IT WAS SUNDOWN FOR JIMMIE AT JUST PAST HIGH NOON. THE OTHER STORY ITEM , TO THIS BLOGGER, THAT BEARS MENTIONING IS THE FACT THAT KYLE BUSCH RUINED WHAT COULD HAVE BEEN A RECORD BREAKING WEEKEND, NOT BY RUNNING OUT OF GAS, BUT BY REVERTING TO HIS CHILD LIKE INNER PERSON AND GOING AND HIDING AFTER THE RACE RATHER THEN JUST STANDING UP AND SAYING WHAT HIS CREW CHIEF SAID, THAT A MISTAKE WAS MADE AND THAT THEY CAME UP SHORT. KYLE IS AN EXCELLENT DRIVER, BUT IF HE DOESN'T GROW UP HIS GREAT CLAIM TO NASCAR FAME ISN'T GOING TO BE ALL THE RACES HE WILL WIN AND CHAMPIONSHIPS THAT HE WILL WIN, BUT HIS CRY BABY ATTITUDE AND POOR SHOWING OF SHORTSMANSHIP.
THIS IS HOW I SAW THE RACE ON THIS BALMY SUNDAY AFTERNOON IN NOVEMBER, I REALLY HOPE THAT AT LEAST A FEW OF YOU AGREE AND IF YOU DON'T THAT'S OK ANYWAY. I CAN'T PLEASE ALL OF YOU SO I GUESS I WILL JUST PLEASE MYSELF.
NOT:
1. SAM HORNISH JR.: YOU CAN'T REALLY BLAME SAM FOR THE JOHNSON WRECK, WHETHER THE 00 GOT INTO HIM OR IF SAM JUST GOT LOOSE, IT WAS JUST ONE MORE BAD WEEK FOR SAM HORNISH JR. . IF WE ARE REALLY LUCKY SAM WILL BE SHARING A SEAT NEXT TO DAVID STREMME NEXT SEASON AND WE CAN ALL BREATH A LITTLE EASIER.
2. NASCAR DEBRIS CAUTIONS: ISN'T IT AMAZING THAT A CAUTION COMES OUT FOR WHAT APPEARED TO BE A SARAN WRAPPED BOLOGNA SANDWICH, JUST BEFORE JEFF GORDON GOES A LAP DOWN, COME ON GUYS GET A LIFE.
3. JUAN MONTOYA: HOW IS IT THAT YOU TURN RIGHT, DRIVE AN OPPONENT INTO THE WALL , DESTROY HIS CAR AND THEN SAY IT WAS HIS FAULT. BESIDES AS UGLY AS THE #42'S PAINT JOB WAS TODAY IT NEEDED TO BE WRECKED.
4. #24 TEAM: GUYS WHEN YOU GET HANDED A GIFT AND A CHANCE TO MOVE CLOSER OR TAKE THE LEAD IN THE CHASE, YOU HAVE TO RISE TO THE OCCASION AND MAKE THE MOST OF IT. THIS TEAM DIDN'T SEEM TO BE INTERESTED OR ABLE TO DO ANYTHING WITH THE CAR TO CUT THE LEAD OF YOUR TEAMMATE. ON THE POSITIVE SIDE, JEFF TALKED WITH THE PRESS AFTER THE RACE AND BASICALLY SAID I SUCK AT THIS TRACK AND WE JUST DIDN' T GET IT DONE.
5. KYLE BUSCH: KYLE LET AN OUTSTANDING WEEKEND GO DOWN THE DRAIN WITH HIS ATTITUDE AFTER THE RACE. YES, SOMEWHERE IN THE MIX A MISTAKE WAS MADE, BUT GOING AND HIDING IN YOUR MOTORCOACH OR LEAVING THE TRACK IS NOT THE WAY TO SHOW YOU MATURITY.

HOT:
1. KURT BUSCH: THERE ARE TIMES WHEN YOU HAVE TO HAVE AS MUCH LUCK AS YOU DO ABILITY, AND TODAY WAS ONE OF THOSE DAYS. KURT USED BOTH TODAY TO WIN THE RACE, MOVE UP 2 SPOTS IN THE CHASE, AND WIN A YOUNG MAN FROM BROKEN BOW OKLAHOMA A MILLION DOLLARS. KURT REALLY DESERVES A WHITE HAT FOR THIS WEEK.
2. DENNY HAMLIN: DENNY HAS BEEN SO UP AND DOWN, HE HAS TO FEEL LIKE A YOYO, BUT HE HASN'T BEEN ONE TO REALLY WHINE AND CRY . HE MOVED UP 3 SPOTS IN THE CHASE AND WILL CONTINUE TO GIVE EVERYTHING HE HAS TO WIN.
3. MATT KENSETH: WELL I'M NOT SURE MATT DIDN'T COME CLOSER TO STARTING THE RACE IN GRAPEVINE TEXAS RATHER THEN IN DALLAS. MATT WORKED THROUGH OUT THE DAY TO MOVE FROM HIS STARTING POSITION OF 30th TO A 3rd PLACE FINISH. IT IS REALLY GREAT TO ONCE AGAIN SEE A COUPLE OF ROUSH BOYS IN THE TOP 10.
4. MARK MARTIN: ONE MORE TIME THE OLD MAN PROVES THAT OLD AGE AND ABILITY WILL GET YOU WHERE YOU NEED TO BE. WHEN JOHNSON GOT THE WALL MARK KNEW THAT ALL HE HAD TO DO WAS CONTINUE TO BE MARK MARTIN AND HE WOULD COME OUT SMELLING LIKE THAT FAMOUS YELLOW ROSE OF TEXAS. MARK MOVED BACK INTO SECOND PLACE IN THE CHASE AND IS TRAILING BY ONLY 73 POINTS.
5. KEVIN HARVICK: KEVIN HAS MADE FORWARD PROGRESS MOST OF THE SECOND HALF OF THE SEASON, SHOWING THAT NOT ONLY IS THE 29 CAR STILL TO BE DEALT WITH BUT THAT THE ENTIRE RCR PROGRAM MAY HAVE TURNED THE CORNER AND IS ON THE WAY BACK.
WELL FOLKS THAT IS HOW I SAW THE RACE TODAY AND NEXT WEEK WE MOVE TO PHOENIX, AND THE WEATHER MAY WELL PLAY A BIG PART IN THE RACE CAUSE IT IS GOING TO BE ONE EXTREME OR THE OTHER, IT WILL EITHER BE HOTTER THEN THE DIXENS OR COLDER THEN A WELL DIGGER'S REAR END IN DECEMBER. SEE YA THERE

HOT AND NOT: THIS WASN'T THE DEGA WE KNOW AND LOVE

GREETINGS FROM SW OKLAHOMA:
WELL, THIS ONE WAS A LITTLE DIFFERENT, AND THIS IS ONCE MORE A CASE OF WHEN DIFFERENT ISN'T BETTER. DURING MOST OF THE RACE I THOUGHT I WAS SITTING AT A RAILROAD CROSSING WATCHING A TRAIN GO BY.
MUCH PROPS TO RYAN NEWMAN FOR TAKING THE TIME TO SPEAK HIS MIND ON WHAT THE NEW INSERTED BUMP DRAFTING RULE AND THE SMALLER RESTRICTOR PLATES DID. THEY CREATED A BORING RACE AND DID NOT PREVENT THE BIG ONE NOR DID THEY PREVENT THE CARS FROM GOING AIRBORNE, SO THEY WERE MORE OR LESS A TOTAL BUST.
I WILL MOST LIKELY GET HAMMERED FOR THIS BUT I HAVE TO SAY IT, WHEN DALE EARNHARDT DIED, HE MAY HAVE MADE HIS GREATEST CONTRIBUTATION TO NASCAR RACING, WHEN HE DIED AT DAYTONA IT SHOOK NASCAR RACING TO IT'S VERY CORE AND SENT A SHIVER TO THEIR VERY TOES. IT CAUSED THEM TO STAND UP AND LOOK AT SAFETY FEATURES THAT WERE NOT IN PLACE AT THE TIME, SINCE THAT FATEFUL DAY WE HAVE SEEN THE INTRODUCTION OF THE SAFER BARRIERS, THE HANS DEVICE AND MORE SAFETY BELTS, THE SHOCK ABSORBING FOAM IN THE SIDES OF THE CARS AND STRONGER ROLL CAGES. ALL OF THESE HAVE COMBINED TO SAVE THE LIVES OF DENNY HAMLIN, CARL EDWARDS, KYLE BUSCH, AND TODAY RYAN NEWMAN AND MARK MARTIN. THANK YOU DALE AND THE NASCAR SAFETY TEAM.
THIS IS HOW I SAW THE RACE, YOU WILL SEE A FEW NAMES THAT YOU HAVEN'T SEEN BEFORE BUT AFTER READING I HOPE YOU AGREE WITH ME.
NOT:
1. NEW NASCAR RULES: GOOD GRIEF GUYS, YOU CAN NO MORE LEGISLATE SAFETY THEN YOU CAN ANYTHING ELSE, YOU WOULD HAVE BEEN BETTER OFF TO DO THE FENCE THING ALL THE WAY AROUND THE TRACK AND BLOCK OFF 10 OR 12 ROWS OF BLEACHERS IN THE CORNERS. AND OF COURSE THE CLOSING OF PIT ROW ON A CAUTION WHEN YOU ALREADY HAVE 6 CARS 2 SECONDS AWAY FROM THE COMMITMENT CONE.
2. #16 PIT CREW: LOSING A TIRE COST GREG EARLY IN THE RACE, IT WAS WAY TO EARLY IN THE RACE TO GET IN SO MUCH OF A HURRY THAT YOU LOSE YOUR HEAD, THIS CLOSE TO THE END DON'T START BEING YOUR OWN WORST ENEMY.
3. DENNY HAMLIN: JUST WHEN I START TO THINK THINGS ARE GETTING BETTER FOR DENNY HE GETS SNAKE BIT AGAIN, BEGINNING TO THINK HE NEEDS TO STAY OUT OF THE SWAMP, AND SINCE GIBBS MOTORS DON'T NORMALLY JUST BLOW UP I THINK THE HEAD SHED NEEDS TO LOOK AT IT TO SEE IF IT IS A DRIVER PROBLEM OR AN ENGINE SHOP PROBLEM.
4. BRAD KESELOWSKI: BRAD WAS RACING HARD AND I DON'T FAULT HIM FOR THAT, BUT WHEN YOU ARE THAT CLOSE TO THE WALL IN A GAGGLE OF CARS, THAT ISN'T THE PLACE TO EXCERT YOURSELF, ALL YOU DID WAS TAKE OUT KYLE BUSCH AND MARK MARTIN AND MORE OR LESS HAND THE CHAMPIONSHIP TO JIMMIE JOHNSON.
5. JIMMIE JOHNSON: SORRY J.J. FANS, JIMMIE WAS NOT MUCH OF A RACER TODAY, HE WASN'T EVEN MUCH OF A DRIVER, I THINK THE BEST I CAN GIVE HIM IS HE WAS A PRETTY GOOD CRUISER. YOU WOULD NEVER HAVE SEEN DALE EARNHARDT, RICHARD PETTY, OR EVEN RUSTY WALLACE HIDE OUT IN THE BACK OF THE PACK. JOHNSON'S 8th PLACE FINISH TODAY WAS DUE IN NO PART TO HIS DRIVING ABILITY OR HIS PIT CREW'S GOOD WORK, BUT TO THE BAD LUCK OF OTHER DRIVERS ON THE TRACK.

HOT:
1. JAMIE McMURRAY: JAMIE STARTED THE DAY IN 22nd HOPING JUST TO GET THROUGH THE DAY WITH EVERYTHING STILL ON THE CAR, AND MUCH TO THE LUCKY STARTS OF JAMIE AND AN AWFUL LOT OF DRIVING ABILITY HE COMES OUT A WINNER. THIS SINGLE WIN AT DEGA MAY WELL GO FAR AS FAR AS GETTING HIM A SUCURE RIDE FOR 2010.
2. JOEY LOGANO: JOEY IS LEARNING HIS LESSONS VERY WELL, I THINK MAYBE HE IS READING THAT BOOK THE GUY FROM HOME DEPOT GAVE HIM, AND HE IS LISTENING TO ZIPPY. HE IS LEARNING THAT SOMETIMES YOU DON'T HAVE TO GO GET IT ALL IN ONE BITE, BUT TO BIDE YOUR TIME AND NIBBLE YOUR WAY TO THE FRONT.
3. JEFF BURTON: JEFF STARTED 18th AND FINISHED 5th, ONCE AGAIN SHOWING THAT THE "GOOD THINGS COME TO THOSE WHO WAIT". JEFF RAN TOWARD THE FRONT ALL DAY, WAITING AND THEN POUNCING WHEN HE HAD OPENINGS, MAYBE ONLY MOVING UP 1 OR 2 SPOTS BUT ALWAYS DOING IT IN THE CALM AND COLLECTED WAY AND THOSE SHORT SAFE MOVES BROUGHT HIM FROM 18th to 5th WITH EVERYTING STILL ON THE CAR.
4. ELLIOTT SADLER: DID WE GET A GLIMPSE OF WHAT IS TO COME NEXT YEAR WITH THE FORDS IN THIS STABLE. ELLIOTT STARTED 26 th AND FINISHED 7th, LED A COUPLE OF LAPS AND DODGED THE BIG ONES BOTH TIMES. IT REALLY IS GOOD TO SEE HIM BACK ON TOP EVEN IF IT IS ONLY FOR THIS RACE.
5. DALE EARNHARDT JR. : AFTER THE SEASON THAT DALE HAS HAD I THINK THAT THIS 10th PLACE FINISH MAY HAVE BEEN JUST THE BOOST HE NEEDED, THAT AND THE FACT THAT THE CC THING HAS BEEN SETTLED SO HE KNOWS WHERE AND WITH WHOM HE IS GOING TO BE WORKING NEXT YEAR. THIS STUFF SETTLED AND THE CREW IN PLACE WILL BE JUST WHAT THE 88 TEAMS NEEDS TO HIT THE TRACK RUNNING IN 2010.
NEXT WEEK WE MOVE TO THE LONE STAR STATE AND ALL THE GOOD THINGS THAT GO ON AT TEXAS MOTOR SPEEDWAY, LOOKING AT THE WEATHER FORCAST FOR THE DALLAS -FT. WORTH AREA I PREDICT WE WILL SEE TONS OF "COWBOY BOOTS AND SWIMMING SUITS" , ANYONE HAVE ANY IDEA WHO SANG THAT SONG, HERE'S A HINT HE LOVES LUCKENBACH TEXAS.

HOT OR NOT - A HOT DOG AND A RACE

HOT OR NOT - A HOT DOG AND A RACE
Sunday, October 25, 2009, 07:55 PM EST [NASCAR]

GREETINGS FROM SW OKLAHOMA:

WELL FOLKS LAST WEEK I MANAGED TO UPSET A FEW FOLKS OVER SOME COMMENTS I MADE ABOUT KYLE BUSCH, WELL SORRY ABOUT THAT BUT I JUST WRITE WHAT I SEE AND HOW I REACT TO IT. ONE THING THAT WE ALL NEED TO REMEMBER IS THAT OPINIONS ARE LIKE REAR ENDS, WE ALL HAVE THEM AND THEY USUALLY STINK, SO WITH THAT IN MIND HERE IS HOW I SAW THE RACE THIS WEEK, AND MAYBE A FEW OF YOU WILL AGREE WITH ME THIS WEEK.

NOT:

1. DALE JR. : ANOTHER RACE AND ANOTHER HORRIBLE DAY, JR. MANAGED TO BRING OUT 2 CAUTIONS BEFORE THE TUMMS WERE EVEN ABLE TO KICK IN, FOR JR.'S SAKE I WISH THE SEASON WAS OVER AFTER NEXT WEEK, THIS YOUNG MAN NEEDS A LITTLE TIME OUT OF THE LIMELIGHT TO KICK BACK AND RELAX.

2. DAVID STREMME: DAVID DID THE OLD BOB, WEAVE, AND HIT THE WALL TRICK AGAIN THIS WEEK, ARE WE SURPRISED, BUT AT LEAST IT WAS HIS OWN TEAMMATE THAT HE WRECKED THIS TIME. BUT THE BRIGHT SIDE OF IT IS THERE ARE ONLY 4 MORE RACES BEFORE HE IS OUT OF THE CAR FOR GOOD.

3. KASEY KAHNE: WRECKED AND BACKED INTO THE WALL, IT REALLY SEEMS THAT THE CHASE HAS HIM SNAKE BIT AND GOING BACKWARDS, AT THIS RATE HE MAY END UP 13th RATHER THEN 12th.

4. NASCAR OFFICIALS: THERE WAS NO GOOD REASON FOR NASCAR TO ALLOW THE 34 CAR BACK ON THE TRACK, THAT WAS A PIECE OF JUNK LOOKING FOR A PLACE TO FALL APART, AND IT DID, AND THEN AFTER THE CAR SPUN ON THE LAST RESTART AND THE CAUTION WAS NOT THROWN, WHAT WERE THEY THINKING OF, BOTH OF THOSE COULD HAVE ENDED UP CAUSING REALLY BAD PROBLEMS. WASN'T THE SPUN CAR ALMSOT A TOTAL REPLAY OF DALE JARRETT SPINNING AND THEN STALLING A FEW YEARS AGO , WHICH BROUGHT TO A STOP, THE RACING BACK TO THE FINISH LINE.

5. CARL EDWARDS: CARL STARTED 29th AND FINISHED 20th JUST MOVING FARTHER DOWN THE LINE IN THE CHASE, FRUSTRATION HAS TO BE RUNNING WILD IN THE 99 CAMP, BUT CARL DON'T TAKE IT OUT ON THE WALLS AND OTHER DRIVERS.

HOT:

5. JEFF GORDON: JEFF STARTED 2nd TODAY AND DID FALL BACK A LITTLE BUT OVERALL HE RAN A GOOD RACE AND HELD HIS OWN IN THE CHASE. WE BETTER NOT COUNT THE RAINBOW WARRIOR OUT YET, I DON'T THINK HE IS QUITE READY TO HAND MR. JOHNSON NUMBER 4.

4. KYLE BUSCH: KYLE CERTAINLY COULD HAVE GIVEN DRIVING LESSONS TODAY, HE STARTED 41st AND WORKED WITH HIS TEAM ALL DAY LONG TO MOVE FORWARD, EVEN WHEN HE WAS UPSET BY THINGS ON THE TRACK HE HELD HIS TEMPER AND SHOWED WHAT A GREAT DRIVER HE CAN BE.

3. JUAN MONTOYA: EXCELLENT RECOVERY FROM LAST WEEK. PEOPLE TRIED ALL DAY TO GET HIM TO LOST HIS COOL AND MAKE A MISTAKE BUT HE JUST WASN'T BITING ON THAT HOT DOG, IF HE CAN HOLD IT TOGETHER FOR A FEW MORE RACES HE MAY END UP BEING THE WINNER. WOULDN'T IT BE INTERESTING IF HE KEEPS HANGING IN THE TOP 3 OR 4 AND MARTIN AND JOHNSON JUST HAPPEN TO HAVE A COUPLE OF BAD RACES, HMMM A CHAMPION WITH NO WINS IN THE CHASE, WHAT WOULD NASCAR SAY TO THAT.

2. JIMMIE JOHNSON: JIMMIE AND THE 48 TEAM RAN WELL AGAIN TODAY, I THINK THE OUTSIDE POLE POSTION ON THE LAST COUPLE OF RESTARTS MIGHT HAVE CAUSED HIM JUST ENOUGH PROBLEMS NOT TO WIN, BUT AT MARTINSVILLE SECOND AIN'T BAD.

1. DENNY HAMLIN: EXCELLENT RACE, AFTER THE LAST COUPLE OF WEEKS DENNY COULD HAVE VERY EASILY JUST GONE OUT AND DROVE AROUND, BUT HE KNUCKLED DOWN AND SHOWED EVERYONE WHAT A GOOD 'OL VIRGINIA COUNTRY BOY IS MADE OF. AND TO TELL THE TRUTH I WAS GLAD WE DIDN'T FIND OUT IF HE WOULD HAVE TAKEN JJ OUT FOR THE WIN.

WELL, THAT IS HOW IT WENT DOWN IN MY EYES AND NEXT WEEK WE ARE OFF TO DEGA, WITH SMALLER RESTRICTOR PLATES AND SINGLE FILE RACING, BUT REMEMBER THERE IS ALWAYS THE BIG ONE, ANY BETS ON IF MARK MARTIN IS INVOLVED IN IT.

THE ANSWER TO "WHAT'S WRONG WITH DALE JR.

GREETINGS FROM SW OKLAHOMA:

FOLKS IT SEEMS AS IF, WHEN PEOPLE HAVE NOTHING ELSE TO TALK ABOUT, THE SUBJECT TURNS TO THE #88 TEAM AND WHAT IS THE PROBLEM WITH DALE JR.

I SAT DONW THE OTHER NIGHT AND THOUGHT ABOUT IT FOR AWHILE, HE HAS THE TALENT, HE HAS THE BEST EQUIPMENT MONEY CAN BUY, HE HAS AN EXCELLENT CREW CHIEF AND A FAIRLY DECENT PIT CREW. SO WHY ISN'T HE WINNING OR AT LEAST GETTING CONSISTENT TOP 5'S OR AT LEAST TOP 10". THE ANSWER I CAME UP WITH WAS NOT VERY COOL OR FLATTERING. I THINK JR.'S PROBLEM IS US, THE FANS, THE SPONSORS, THE TRACK OWNERS AND EVEN THE OTHER DRIVERS. WE EXPECT JR. TO BE THE END ALL OF EVERYTHING IN NASCAR RACING. I MEAN HOW CAN HE BE THE MOST POPULAR DRIVER AGAIN THIS YEAR WHEN YOU CAN COUNT HIS WINS FOR THE LAST 2 YEARS ON ONE HAND AND HOW CAN CAN HIS PIT CREW BE THE BEST AND FASTEST WHEN THEY HAVE HAD SO MANY PROBLEMS AND MISTAKES IN THE LAST 2 YEARS. I'LL TELL YOU HOW, WE, THE FANS, VOTE OVER AND OVER AGAIN FOR HIM AND HIS TEAM, THUS PUTTING MORE PRESSURE ON HIM AND THE TEAM TO LIVE UP TO HIS FANS EXSPECTATIONS. THIS IS NOT TO MENTION THAT HIS LAST NAME IS EARNHARDT, AND PEOPLE HAVE A VISION OF DALE SR. AND THEY WANT TO SEE IT IN DALE JR. AND WE NEVER STOP TO THINK THAT MAYBE JUST MAYBE HE DOESN'T WANT TO BE DALE EARNHARDT JR., MAYBE HE JUST WANTS TO BE JR.

I HAVE NOT BEEN WATCHING NASCAR BUT FOR A FEW YEARS, THE FACT IS , I STARTED WATCHING NASCAR THE WEEK AFTER DALE SR. DIED, BUT I DON'T RECALL EVER HEARING OF THIS KIND OF PRESSURE ON KYLE PETTY, DALE JARRETT, OR EVEN JEFF WALLACE AND ALL OF THEIR FATHERS WERE NASCAR CHAMPS ALSO.

WE, YOU & I HAVE PUT THIS YOUNG MAN IN SUCH A PRESSURE COOKER THAT IT WOULD TURN A 40 POUND TURKEY INTO MUSH IN 30 MINUTES. SO MAYBE THE ANSWER IS FOR US TO BACK OFF A LITTLE AND LET JR. BE JR. NOT DALE EARNHARDT SR. FOLKS OVER THE LAST 30 YEARS I HAVE DISCOVERED THAT ADULTS CAN'T RELIVE THEIR SO - SO HIGH SCHOLL ATHLETIC CAREERS THROUGH THEIR KIDS OR THURSDAY NIGHT SOFTBALL AND WE CAN'T KEEP DALE SENIOR ALIVE BY HOPING JR. WILL REPEAT THE DRIVING MAGIC OF HIS DAD.

TSFAN, HOW'S THIS FOR A DIFFERENT FORMAT

GREETINGS FROM SW OKLAHOMA:

FOLKS ALL OF US HAVE BEEN HOLLARING ABOUT THE CHASE FROM THE GET GO, BUT NOW THAT IT APPEARS THE THE 48 IS GOING TO SEAL NUMBER 4 WE ARE SORT OF ALL YELLING AT THE SAME TIME.

TSFAN IS THE FIRST TO OFFER A SOLUTION TO THE CHASE, WATCH THE FIRST 26 RACES, DECLARE YOUR OWN CHAMPION, THEN FIND SOMETHING ELSE TO DO FOR THE LAST 10 RACES. BUT I FOR ONE DON'T WANT TO LOSE HER FOR THE LAST 10 RACES, I CAME UP WITH AN ALTERNATE TO THE CURRENT CHASE.

NASCAR RUNS THE SEASON MORE OR LESS THE WAY IT IS RUN NOW, AFTER THEY GET THEIR TOP 12 IS WHEN THE CHANGE TAKES PLACE. THERE ARE 12 CHASERS AND 10 RACES, SO AFTER THE FIRST RACE THE 2 DRIVERS WITH THE WORST FINISHES ARE CUT FROM THE CHASE AND BECOME THE 12th AND 11th PLACE DRIVERS FOR THE SEASON. FROM THEN ON TILL THE END OF THE SEASON THE DRIVER IN THE CHASE WITH THE WORST FINISH FOR THAT RACE IS CUT FROM THE CHASE AND TAKES THE NEXT SPOT UP THE CHAIN TILL YOU GET TO THE LAST RACE AT HOMESTEAD AND WE HAVE 2 DRIVERS LEFT, THE WORST FINISH AT HOMESTEAD BETWEEN THE TWO REMAINING CHASERS IS SECOND AND THE BETTER FINISH IS THE CHAMPION.

WE HAVE BEEN TOLD FOR YEARS THAT NASCAR STRESSES THE CONSISTENCY RAHTER THEN WINS TO DETERMINE THE CHAMPION AND THIS WOULD CERTAINLY DO THAT. FIRST OFF HE WOULD HAVE HAD TO BE AT LEAST ONE OF THE TOP 12 MOST CONSISTENT DURING THE 26 RACES OF THE REGULAR SEASON AND WOULD CERTAINLY HAVE BEEN THE MOST CONSISTENT DURING THE CHASE.

I AM GOING TO BACK TRACK TO RACE ONE OF THE CHASE THIS YEAR AND FOLLOW IT TO THE END OF THE SEASON JUST TO SEE HOW IT WORKS OUT.

I KNOW ALL OF US HAVE IDEAS OF HOW THIS SHOULD BE CHANGED SO WHY NOT GET A BUCH OF THEM TOGETHER AND THEN JSUT FOR THE HELL OF IT SEND THEM TO NASCAR IN BOOK FORM?

THAT'S MY OPINION - WHAT'S YOURS

HOT OR NOT: TANGLED IN CHARLOTTE'S WEB

HOT OR NOT: TANGLED IN CHARLOTTE'S WEB
Sunday, October 18, 2009, 03:06 PM EST [NASCAR]

GREETINGS FROM SW OKLAHOMA:

FOLKS THE RACE THIS WEEK WAS A GOOD ONE START TO FINISH, AND THE CREAM OF THE CROP REALLY CAME TO THE TOP. MS. CHARLOTTE CAST HER WEB AND SURE CAUGHT A BUNCH OF THE DRIVERS INCLUDING 7 OF THE "SUPER" CHASE DRIVERS. THIS IS HOW I SAW THE RACE AND I HOPE AT LEAST A FEW OF YOU AGREE WITH ME. BY THE WAY, A SPECIAL "COWBOY " SALUTE TO DAVID REUITMANN, HE WAS SICK AS A DOG THE WHOLE RACE, BUT DID HE CRAWL OUT OF THE CAR LIKE A LITTLE BABY, NO, HE RODE IT TO THE END AND DID THE JOB HE GETS PAID TO DO, AND FINISHED IN THE TOP 15 TO BOOT. MR. BUSCH THIS IS HOW A REAL RACECAR DRIVER DOES IT.

NOT:

1. JUAN MONTOYA: I FIGURED THAT WHEN JUAN CAME APART IT WOULD NOT BE PRETTY AND BE A TOTAL MELTDOWN. WHEN THE CREW CHIEF STARTS BEGGING YOU TO LISTEN, YOU KNOW THINGS ARE OUT OF CONTROL.

2. #11 TEAM: I DO BELIEVE THE #11 TEAM HAS BEEN ATTENDING " HOW TO BLOW THE CHASE" CLASSES, ANOTHER WEEK LIKE THE LAST 2 AND THE #11 WILL MOVE TO THE HEAD OF THE CLASS.

3. DALE EARNHARDT JR.: DALE IS SO UNLUCKY THIS YEAR, TONIGHT HE WOULD HAVE BEEN BETTER OFF TO TAKE HIS BROKEN CAR AND GONE TO THE HOUSE. THE BEST THING THAT COULD HAPPEN RIGHT NOW WOULD BE FOR HENDRICK'S MOTORSPORTS TO GROUND THE #88 FOR THE REST OF THE SEASON AND GET A EARLY START FOR NEXT YEAR, IF THERE IS GONNA BE A NEXT YEAR.

4. CARL EDWARDS: THE DUCK NEEDS TO GET A PAIR OF CRUTCHES FOR THE #99 CAR. I DO BELIEVE THAT IT IS SAFE TO SAY YOU CAN STICK A FORK IN THIS DUCK CAUSE THE SEASON IS OVER FOR CARL AND THE #99.

5. DAVID STREMME: ONCE AGAIN THIS WEEK DAVID PLAYED BUMP AND GO WITH THE WALL AND A FEW OF HIS NASCAR FRIENDS. THE LUCKY VICTIM THIS WEEK WAS GREG BIFFLE AND IT COST GREG BIG TIME, GREG MOST LIKELY WOULDN'T HAVE WON THE RACE BUT I DO THINK HE MIGHT HAVE FINISHED HIGHER THEN 16th. I WILL BE SO GLAD WHEN THE SEASON IS OVER AND THEY GET HIM OUT OF THE CAR.

1. JOEY LAGANO: DALE JR. AND SEVERAL OTHERS NEED TO TAKE A LESSON FROM THIS YOUNG MAN. HE MADE A STUPID MISTAKE EARLY IN THE RACE ( MISSED HIS PIT) THEN DROVE HIS BUTT OFF ALL NIGHT AND GETS A 5th PLACE FINISH. FOLKS, THIS IS A RACER WHO WILL GO FAR IN THE FUTURE. DALE WATCH THE RERUN OF THIS RACE SEVERAL TIMES TO SEE HOW THAT IS DONE.

2. JEFF GORDON: JEFFY DID A GOOD JOB ALL NIGHT LONG, MAYBE HE NEEDS TO DROP THE RAINBOW PAINT JOB AND ALWAYS GO WITH SOMETHING A LITTLE MORE MANLY, THE TRANSFORMERS AND THE NATIONAL GUARD PAINT JOBS REALLY SEEM TO BRING OUT THE BEST IN THIS GUY.

3. KASEY KAHNE: KASEY LOOKED TO BE ON A MISSION LAST NIGHT, BOBBING AND WEAVING BETWEEN THE CARS, IT BROUGHT BACK MEMORIES OF WHEN THE BUD CAR WORE #8 AND ANOTHER YOUNG DRIVER WAS IN HIS HEYDAY.

4. MATT KENSETH: MATT DROVE THE BLACK CARHARTT CAR LIKE THERE WAS NO TOMORROW, FOLKS JUST BECAUSE OF A DOWN SEASON DO NOT THINK THIS GUY IS GOING TO GO QUIETLY INTO THE NIGHT.

5. JIMMIE JOHNSON: SOMEONE ONCE SAID OF DALE EARNHARDT " LIKE HIM OR NOT , HE IS THE MAN" WELL, LIKE IT OR NOT I HAVE TO SAY THE SAME THING ABOUT JIMMIE JOHNSON. I THINK THE ONLY WAY THEY WILL CROWN A DIFFERENT CHAMPION THIS SEASON IS IF FOR SOME REASON JIMMIE DOESN'T DRIVE THE NEXT FEW RACES.

AS THE RACE SEASON DRAWS TO AN END , JUST FOR GIGGLES I WOULD LIKE TO VENTURE A GUESS AS TO THE TOP FIVE FINISHERS FOR 2009.

1. JIMMIE JOHNSON

2. JEFF GORDON

3. MARK MARTIN

4. TONY STEWART

5. KASEY KAHNE

THIS IS HOW IT SAW IT THIS WEEK AND NEXT WEEK ON TO MARTINSVILLE FOR FUN, FROLIC, AND ALL KINDS OF OTHER GOOD SOUTHERN THINGS. FRIED EGGS, A HAM STEAK, AND REDEYE GRAVEY SURE SOUNDS GOOD RIGHT NOW.

THAT'S MY OPINION - WHAT'S YOURS

THIS IS MY OPINION - WHAT'S YOURS

HOT OR NOT : HOTEL CALIFORNIA
Monday, October 12, 2009, 06:53 PM EST [NASCAR]

GREETINGS FROM SW OKLAHOMA:

WELL FOLKS MOVING THE TIME AND DATE OF THE RACE DID DO A LOT TO MAKE THE RACE THIS WEEK MUCH BETTER. THIS IS THE WAY I SAW THE RACE AND I HOPE THAT SOME OF YOU SAW IT THE SAME WAY.

NOT:

1. FASTEST PIT CREW CONTEST: THIS CONTEST HAS TO BE FIXED, OR PEOPLE ARE VOTING FOR THE #88 CREW AS A REWARD FOR ALL THE SCREWUPS THIS YEAR. THE PROBLEMS THE CREW HAS HAD HAS COST SO MANY PLACES AND GOOD FINISHES THAT IT ISN'T FUNNY. THERE IS NO WAY THEY HAVE BEEN THE FASTEST OR THE BEST TEAM ON PIT ROW.

2. PIT ROW SPEEDING PENALITIES: WITH ALL THE TECH ADVANCES THERE ARE TODAY, THERE IS NO REASON THAT EVERYONE IN THE PITS, STANDS AND THE TV VIEWING GROUP CAN'T BE SHOWN THE SPEED OF THE CARS ON PIT ROW, THIS HAS TO BEG THE QUESTION " WHY WILL NASCAR NOT SHARE THIS TID-BIT OF INFORMATION?" SO LONG AS PEOPLE CAN'T BE SHOWN THE SPEEDS THERE IS ALWAYS GONNA BE QUESTION ABOUT IF A DRIVER BLEW IT OR NOT.

3. KYLE BUSCH: I KNOW THERE IS NO WAY THAT KYLE COULD HELP BEING SICK, BUT WOULDN'T HE HAVE BEEN BETTER OFF TO SIT OUT THE NATIONWIDE RACE IN ORDER TO REST AND GET BETTER SO HE COULD HAVE RUN THE FULL CUP RACE.

4. DENNY HAMLIN: FOOLISH MOVES 2 DAYS IN A ROW COST DENNY, THE NATIONWIDE RACE WAS NO BIG DEAL, BUT NOT TAKING THE INSIDE ON THE RESTART WAS FOOLISH AND COSTLY. DENNY WAS IN 6th WHEN THE WRECK HAPPENED AND HE ENDED UP 9th WHEN THE DAY WAS DONE. THE POSITIVE POINT FOR DENNY IN THIS WHOLE MESS IS HE TOOK THE FULL BLAME FOR THE WRECK AND ANY DAMAGE THAT HE CAUSED. THIS IS SORT OF LIKE CLOSING THE BARN DOOR AFTER THE COW GETS OUT THOUGH.

5. BRIAN VICKERS: BRIAN HAS SORT OF BEEN PLAYING THE ROLE OF "FISHIN' SINKER" FOR THE LAST COUPLE OF WEEKS, WHAT I MEAN BY THAT IS THAT HE STARTS THE RACE THEN SINKS TO THE BOTTOM, IF HE DOESN'T CATCH SOMETHING PRETTY QUICK THE END OF THE SEASON WON'T BE VERY PRETTY.

HOT:

5. TONY STEWART: TONY HAD TO HAVE RUN THROUGH THE "LUCKY FOREST" AND KNOCKED ON EVERY TREE. TONY STARTED 20th AND THEN HIS PIT CREW BLEW THE PIT CALL AND BROUGHT HIM IN LATE AND HE STILL FINISHED 5th AND STILL HOLDS ON TO HIS 4th PLACE IN THE CHASE, STILL WELL IN STRIKING DISTANCE OF THE CHAMPIONSHIP.

4. MARK MARTIN: FOR THE FIRST TIME SINCE THE CHASE STARTED MARK IS NOT THE LEADER, BUT HE IS ONLY 12 POINTS BEHIND. MARK IS WITHOUT A DOUBT THE HAPPIEST AND MOST HUMBLE DRIVER TO EVER GRACE A NASCAR TRACK. ANYONE WHO DEEP DOWN ISN'T ROOTING FOR MARK HAS GOT TO BE A NUT CASE.

3. JUAN MONTOYA: ONCE AGAIN THIS WEEK JUAN DID HIS BEST TO DRIVE THE WHEELS OFF THE CAR. HE IS STILL THE ONLY DRIVER TO SHOW ENOUGH CONSISTENCY TO FINISH IN THE TOP 5 IN ALL THE CHASE RACES. BUT I DO WONDER IF HE IS BEGINNING TO THINK THAT HE NEEDS A SIGN ON HIS CAR READING " ALWAYS A GROOMSMAN BUT NEVER THE GROOM."

2. JEFF GORDON: JEFF RAN WELL ALL DAY STARTING 10th AND HANGING IN ALL DAY , HE JUST HAD HIS LUCK RUN OUT ONE RESTART TO SOON. I THINK YOU CAN ONLY OUTSMART FOLKS SO LONG. JEFF MOVED UP 2 SLOTS CLOSER TO THE TOP SO ALL IN ALL NOT A BAD DAY AT ALL FOR THE 24 TEAM.

1. JIMMIE JOHNSON: WHAT CAN YOU SAY, FOR THE LAST 4 YEARS THE SURPRISE IS WHEN JIMMIE DOESN'T WIN, THIS WIN JUST TOPPED OFF A SUPER RETURN HOME AND A GREAT WEEK OF FUND RAISING FOR THE JIMMIE JOHNSON FOUNDATION. EXCELLENT WORK JJ LOOKS LIKE MAYBE NUMBER 4 IS ON THE WAY.

FOLKS THAT IS HOW I SAW IT GOOD, BAD, OR UGLY, I DO FEEL THAT NASCAR HAS WOME WORK TO DO IN ORDER TO GET RID OF SOME QUESTIONS THAT KEEP RECURRING, BUT STILL RIGHT NOW IT IS THE BEST GAME IN TOWN.

THAT'S MY OPINION - WHAT'S YOURS

HOT OR NOT: SMOKE IN THE LAND OF OZ
Sunday, October 4, 2009, 08:23 PM EST [NASCAR]

GREETINGS FROM SW OKLAHOMA:

WELL FOLKS I DON'T THINK THE LION OR TIN MAN WERE THERE TODAY BUT IT LOOKED LIKE THEY HAD A GREAT TURN OUT FOR THE KANSAS RACE AND THE FANS WERE TREATED TO A VERY GOOD RACE. THERE WERE A FEW CALLS MADE BY NASCAR THAT MADE ME SCRATCH MY HEAD, BUT OVER ALL IT WAS A REALLY GOOD RACE. WHY DO YOU HAVE THE YELLOW COME OUT WHEN A SINGLE CAR RAKES THE WALL AND DOESN'T EVEN THROW ANYTHING OFF THE CAR. ANYWAY THIS IS HOW I SAW THE RACE AND I HOPE AT LEAST A COUPLE OF YOU AGREE.

NOT:

1. PAUL MENARD: FELLOW, WHEN A BETTER DRIVER THEN YOU , LIKE JOEY LAGANO, SPINS OUT IN A CORNER, MAKE A NOTE OF IT AND DON'T TRY TO DRIVE THAT SAME LINE AROUND THE SAME CORNER IN THE SAME WAY 5 LAPS LATER, EVEN THE SCARECROW WITH NO BRAIN WOULD HAVE KNOWN THAT.

2. #88 CREW: YES, IT IS A TEAM EFFORT, BUT JR. CAN'T GET OUT OF THE CAR AND CHANGE THE TIRES. HE HAD ALREADY LOST THE LEAD AFTER 41 LAPS SO ONE OR TWO EXTRA SECONDS ON THAT PIT STOP WOULD NOT HAVE MATTERED THAT MUCH AND IT JUST MIGHT HAVE ALLOWED JR. TO CONTINUE ON THE LEAD LAP.

3. MAX PAPIS: WHEN YOU ARE RUNNING 32nd GET OUT OF THE WAY WHEN THE LEAD CARS OVER TAKE YOU AND PASS YOU LIKE YOU ARE SITTING UP ON JACKSTANDS, I MEAN EVEN THE TIN MAN KNOWS THAT, YOUR ACTIONS MAY HAVE BEEN THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN BIFFLE FINISHING 1st RATHER THEN 3rd.

4. NASCAR OFFICIALS: IF YOU INSIST ON RUNNING YOUR CHAMPIONSHIP WITH 43 CARS ON THE TRACK THEN YOU NEED TO SHUT UP AND LET THE CHIPS FALL WHERE THEY WILL. YOU SHOULD NEVER PULL A DRIVER DOWN OR WARN HIM JUST BECAUSE HE IS RUNNING TO WIN AND HAPPENS TO NOT BE ONE OF THE CHASE GOLDEN BOYS. KESELOWSKI WAS NOT BEING RECKLESS OR UNSAFE, HE WAS TRYING TO IMPROVE POSITION AND TRYING TO WIN, I THINK THAT IS THE IDEA, AND HE HAS AS MUCH RIGHT TO SPACE ON THAT TRACK AND TO VIE FOR THE WIN AS THE CHASERS.

5. BRIAN VICKERS: I DO BELIEVE THAT THE WICKED WITCH OF THE WEST WAS RIDING SHOTGUN WITH BRIAN ALL DAY LONG. HE STARTED 12th AND SEEMED TO HAVE PROBLEMS RIGHT FROM THE GET GO, FINALLY THE CAR JUST GAVE UP AND ENDED BRIAN'S MISERY, HIS POOR RUNNING TODAY DROPPED HIM 2 SPOTS IN THE CHASE WHICH WILL PUT EVEN MORE PRESSURE ON THE RED BULL TEAM TO TRY TO COME UP WITH THE MAGIC TO RECLIMB THE CHASE LADDER.

HOT:

5. DENNY HAMLIN: WELL THE LITTLE MUNCHKINS WERE WORKING OVERTIME FOR DENNY THIS WEEK, AFTER A REALLY BAD WEEK LAST WEEK DENNY STARTED 22nd AND USED THAT MUNCHKIN MAGIC TO FINISH 5th TODAY. DENNY RETAINED HIS SPOT RIGHT SMACK DAB IN THE MIDDLE OF THE CHASE SO ALL IS GOOD FOR THE 11 CAR.

4. JUAN MONTOYA: JUAN STARTED 14th AND HAD TO DEAL WITH A FEW BUMPS ALONG THE YELLOW BRICK ROAD ON HIS WAY TO A 4th PLACE TODAY IN THE LAND OF OZ. BORROWNING THE COURAGE FROM THE LION, JUAN HELD HIS LINE AND IS FIRMLY ENTRENCHED IN THIRD PLACE IN THE CHASE AND EVEN MANAGED TO GAIN POINTS ON THE SECOND PLACE 48 CAR. COGRATS TO JUAN FOR BEING THE ONLY DRIVER TO FINISH IN THE TOP 5 OF THE FIRST THREE CHASE RACES FOR 2009.

3. GREG BIFFLE: GREG BIFFLE HAS TO BE THE GUY WHO GOT THE TIN MAN'S HEART FOR THE RACE THIS WEEK, HE STARTED THE RACE IN ABOUT WICHITA KANSAS AND IT WOULD HAVE BEEN SO EASY TO FLOAT THROUGH THE RACE WITH A "WHO CARES" ATTITUDE, BUT WITH THAT TIN MAN HEART OF HIS HE FOUGHT TOOTH AND NAIL AND ALONG THE WAY HE LED THE MOST LAPS AND PUT ON A HECK OF A SHOW FOR THE FANS. I THINK A MIS-CALL ON THE LAST PIT STOP MIGHT HAVE MADE THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN 1st AND THE 3rd PLACE FINISH THAT HE GOT.

2. JEFF GORDON: JEFF STARTED 9th AND HE AND THE CREW HAD TO TOIL ALL DAY TO GET THE CAR RIGHT. I THINK MAYBE GLENDA, THE GOOD WITCH OF THE SOUTH, MIGHT HAVE SPRINKLED A LITTLE OZ DUST IN THE TANK ON THE LAST PIT STOP TO GIVE JEFF THE 2nd PLACE FINISH AND MOVE HIM UP ONE SPOT IN THE CHASE.

1. TONY STEWART: FOLKS HAVE BEEN SAYING THAT TONY WAS OUT AND THAT HE PEAKED TO EARLY, OR THAT THEY WERE RESTING ON THEIR LAURELS, BUT TODAY TONY PROVED THEM WRONG. TONY HAD AN ANGEL RIDING SHOTGUN TODAY, AND AN ANGEL ALWAYS WINS OVER A GOOD WITCH, AND THEY WERE ABLE TO OUTLAST JEFF AFTER THE LAST RESTART FOR THE WIN, THUS ALL IS GOOD TONIGHT IN MUNCHKIN LAND.

FOLKS THAT IS HOW I SAW THE RACE AND I KNOW ALL THE JUNK FROM THE WIZARD OF OZ WAS UNCALLED FOR BUT IF YOU CAN'T HAVE A LITTLE FUN WITH THE WRITING WHAT IS THE USE OF DOING IT. NEXT WEEK IT IS OUT TO SUNNY CALFORNIA WHERE LISA AND KRIS HAVE A CHANCE FOR RINGSIDE SEATS, BUT I THINK I HEARD THAT KRIS HAS A BETTER DEAL IN THE WORKS.

THAT'S MY OPINION - WHAT'S YOURS

HOT OR NOT: CHASE INTRODUCTION IN NEW HAMPSHIRE

HOT OR NOT: CHASE INTRODUCTION IN NEW HAMPSHIRE
Sunday, September 20, 2009, 09:14 PM EST [NASCAR]

GREETINGS FORM SW OKLAHOMA:

FOLKS WITH THE START OF THE CHAMPIONSHIP CHASE THIS WEEK IN NEW HAMPSHIRE , I THOUGHT I MIGHT ATTEMPT TO LIMIT THIS ISSUE OF HOT OR NOT TO THE 12 CHASE DRIVERS. I HAVE TO ADMIT I DIDN'T SEE ALL OF THE RACE, TO SAY THAT IT WAS SORT OF HO-HMM IS MORE OR LESS AN UNDERSTATEMENT. THIS IS HOW I SAW THE RACE AND I HOPE THAT AT LEAST ONE OR TWO OF YOU SAW IT THE SAME WAY.

NOT:

1. KASEY KAHNE: KASEY STARTED IN THE 11th SLOT AND FINISHED 38th, A BLOWN ENGINE TOOK HIM OUT OF THE RACE VERY EARLY. I WILL NOT LAY THE BLAME ON KASEY OR THE ENGINE DEPT. FOR HIS POOR SHOWING, BUT AT THE FEET OF OWNERS WHO ARE CALLUS AND UNCARING AS TO TELL PEOPLE THEY WILL NOT HAVE A JOB IN 2 MONTHS OR TELL A DRIVER HE HAS TO DRIVE FOR NO SALARY OR HE AND HIS CREW CAN PACK IT IN.

2. CARL EDWARDS: CARL HAD A GOOD STARTING POSITION AT 5th , BUT WHEN THE FLAG DROPPED IT SEEMED THAT ALL HE COULD DO WAS DRIFT BACKWARDS, LIKE CARL I WON'T USE THE BROKEN FOOT AS AN EXCUSE, I THINK SOMETHING IS WRONG AT THE ROUSH RACING HOUSE THAT HAS TO BE FIXED OR THEY WILL BE IN EVEN WORSE SHAPE NEXT SEASON THEN THEY ARE NOW.

3. JEFF GORDON: JEFF STARTED 10th AND FINISHED 15th WHICH REALLY ISN'T ALL THAT BAD, BUT WHEN YOU CONSIDER THAT HE ALSO DROPPED FROM 6th IN THE CHASE TO 10th IN THE TOP 12 IT SURE LOOKS LIKE IT MIGHT BE A REAL DEEP HOLE TO CLIMB OUT OF. JEFF NEEDS TO BE UP ON THE WHEEL FROM THE GET-GO NEXT WEEK AND START CLIMBING TOWARD THAT BIG TROPHY.

4. TONY STEWART: I THINK ALMOST THE SAME THING CAN BE SAID ABOUT TONY THAT I SAID ABOUT JEFF. HE WAS THERE AND THERE AND THEN HE WASN'T. I'M SURE THAT A MESSED UP AXLE COVER DIDN'T HELP BUT THAT IS JUST ANOTHER EXAMPLE OF NOT QUITE PAYING ATTENTION TO DETAIL BEFORE A BIG RACE.

5. BRIAN VICKERS: BRIAN HAD A GOOD RACE, BUT HE HAD NO UPWARD MOVEMENT IN THE CHASE STANDINGS, IN SUCH A SHORT SEASON IF YOU ARE NOT MOVING UP OR ARE JUST STANDING STILL THEN YOU MIGHT AS WELL BE MOVING BACKWARDS. I THINK BRIAN WILL FINISH THE SEASON WELL BUT HE IS GONNA HAVE TO HUSSLE STARTING WITH THE RACE AT DOVER NEXT WEEK.

6. GREG BIFFLE: GREG DIDN'T HAVE A GOOD CAR ALL DAY SO THE FACT THAT HE FINISHED 9th MAY SAY MORE ABOUT WHAT OTHERS DIDN'T DO THEN WHAT GREG DID DO. GREG'S CAR PROBLEMS ARE JUST ONE MORE EXAMPLE OF THE UNDERLYING PROBLEM AT ROUSH RACING THAT HAS EFFECTED ALL OF THE CARS IN THAT STABLE THIS SEASON.

HOT:

1. MARK MARTIN: I DO BELIEVE THAT IT WS LAST WEEK THAT I SAID " OLD AGE AND TALENT WOULD OVERCOME YOUTH AND SPEED". MARK STARTED 14th AND WON AGAIN, OUT LASTING THE BIRTHDAY BOY ON THE FINAL RESTART. MARK IS THE PERFECT EXAMPLE THAT LOYALTY TO A TIGHT KNIT GROUP USUALLY PAYS OFF IN THE END, ALL THE CREDIT GOES FROM HIM STRAIGHT TO HIS CREW AND CREW CHIEF.

2. JUAN MONTOYA: JUAN STARTED ON THE POLE AND STAYED THERE A GOOD PART OF THE DAY BUT ON THE LAST RESTART HE GOT OUT-TALENTED AND HAD TO SETTLE FOR SECOND. THIS IS NOT A BAD FINISH FOR HIS FIRST CHASE RACE IN ONLY HIS 3rd YEAR IN NASCAR. WATCH HIM FOLKS HE IS COMING HARD AND WILL BE CLOSE AT THE END.

3. DENNY HAMLIN: DENNY STARTED 4th AND FINISHED 3rd WHICH LOOKS LIKE HE JUST RODE AROUND AND THEN MOVED UP ONE SPOT, BUT THIS IS NOT THE CASE AT ALL, THE FED-EX TEAM SHOWED GREAT TALENT AND COOPERATION THRU OUT THE RACE TO SHOW THAT DENNY WAS RIGHT WHEN HE SAID THE #11 WAS THE CAR AND TEAM TO LOOK OUT FOR. FOLKS DON'T BE SURPRISED IF THIS TEAM DOESN'T TAKE IT ALL.

4. JIMMIE JOHNSON: JIMMIE STARTED 16th AND FINISHED 4th, NOT AS GOOD AS WHAT WE NORMALLY SEE FROM THE 48 TEAM, BUT NOTHING SURPRISING AT ALL. I HAVE COME TO THINK THAT YOU COULD START THE 48 3 LAPS DOWN AND DEAD LAST AND HE WILL STILL BE IN THE TOP 3 WHEN THE RACE IS OVER. THE JIMMIE AND CHAD HORSE AND PONY SHOW HAS NOT YET BEGUN TO SHINE AND THAT 4th CAHMPIONSHIP IS NOT OUT OF SIGHT EITHER.

5. KURT BUSCH: IT HAS BEEN SAID " WHAT DOESN'T BREAK YOU ONLY MAKES YOU STRONGER" OR WORDS TO THAT EFFECT. KURT AND THE BREW CREW ARE PERFECT EXAMPLES OF THIS , THE HOOPLA ABOUT TRYSON COULD HAVE DONE THIS TEAM IN, AND MAY BEFORE THE SEASON IS OVER, BUT TODAY THEY WORKED WELL AND GOT A 5th PLACE FINISH AND MOVED UP 2 SPOTS IN THE CHASE TO 5th.

6. RYAN NEWMAN: THIS MIGHT NOT BE THE BEST TIME TO OUTSHINE YOUR BOSS, BUT RYAN CERTAINLY DID A GOOD JOB OF IT TODAY. HE STARTED 18th AND DROVE SAFE AND SOUND TO A 7th PLACE FINISH. RYAN MOVED UP 3 SPACES IN THE CHASE AND NOW HIS BOSS CAN CHASE HIM FOR AWHILE. I DON'T THINK WE WILL SEE THE SLOGAN OF THE FIRST INFANTRY DIVISION, "FOLLOW ME" ON THE BACK OF RYAN'S CAR ANYTIME SOON, BUT WOULDN'T IT BE A HOOT IF WE DID.

FOLKS THIS IS HOW I SAW THE CHASE RACERS DOING IT TODAY, I HOPE AT LEAST A FEW OF YOU SAW SOME OF THE SAME THINGS I DID, IF NOT MAYBE WE WILL SEE THINGS CLOSER NEXT WEEK AT DOVER, HAVE A GOOD WEEK AND BE SAFE.

HOT OR NOT: DEEP IN THE HEART OF DIXIE

HOT OR NOT: DEEP IN THE HEART OF DIXIE
Sunday, September 13, 2009, 01:16 PM EST [NASCAR]

GREETINGS FROM SW OKLAHOMA:

DIXIE, THE LAST TRUE FORTRESS OF THE TRUE AMERICAN WAY OF LIFE, SERVED AS A VERY FITTING PLACE FOR THE END OF THE REGULAR NASCAR SEASON. THE WEATHER WAS EXCELLENT, THE RACING WAS EVEN BETTER, THE FANS WERE TRULY SOUTHERN CORDIAL, AND THE HOMETOWN BOY FINALLY OVER CAME THE HURDLES AND JINX TO CROSS THE FINISH LINE FIRST FOR THE WIN AND SECURE A 4th PLACE START IN THE CHASE. HERE IS THE WAY I SAW THE RACE AND I HOPE YOU DID TO, WELL AT LEAST IN A FEW WAYS.

NOT:

1. SCOTT SPEED: IN THE WALL AGAIN IN ABOUT THE FIRST 6 LAPS, HE STARTED 20th AND FINISHED 36th, I GUESS THAT IS ABOUT HIS NORMAL NUMBER OF PLACES TO MOVE AND IN THE SAME DIRECTION, I HAVE NO IDEA WHY I AM SURPRISED. HE HAS TO BE THE WORST ROOKIE CANDIDATE TO COME DOWN THE PIKE IN A LONG WHILE.

2. MATT KENSETH: MATT JUST DIDN'T SEEM TO BE ABLE TO DO ONE THING RIGHT LAST NIGHT, HE PITTED WHEN HE WASN'T EXPECTED THEN WENT IN TO THE WRONG BOX, BUT I THINK THAT MIGHT HAVE BEEN ON PURPOSE. FOR THE FIRST TIME SINCE THE START MATT WON'T MAKE THE CHASE, LIKE THE "MIGHTY CASEY" MATT HAS STRUCK OUT AND THERE IS SADNESS IN MUDVILLE TONIGHT.

3. TONY STEWART: JUST WORKING TO HARD AND OVER DRIVNG, PIT PROBLEMS. THINGS ARE NOT LOOKING GOOD FOR THE OLD SPICE GUY RIGHT NOW. IT IS REALLY LOOKING MORE AND MORE LIKE A CASE OF PITTING TO EARLY.

4. PENSKE RACING: THIS WAS THE WORST TIME TO ANNOUNCE THAT PAT TRYSON IS LEAVING, JUST ONE MORE THING TO DISTRACT KURT AND THE CREW TO DEAL WITH. IF KURT HAS PROBLEMS DURING THE CHASE THEN THEY MAY BE BECAUSE OF A CREW CHIEF WHO IS DISTRACTED OR MAYBE NOT, EITHER WAY THAT IS WHERE THE BLAME WILL GO. WHEN THEY FOUND OUT HE WAS LEAVING, THE NEXT WORDS SHOULD HAVE BEEN "SO LONG" AND STARTED FROM SCRATCH RIGHT THEN. IF YOUR GONNA MAKE A CHANGE DO IT AND DO IT NOW AND GET ON WITH IT.

5. MARTIN TRUEX JR.: MARTIN STARTED 2nd TONIGHT AND ALL HE DID WAS GO BACKWARDS ALL NIGHT LONG. I'M NOT SURE IF IT WAS THE CAR OR IF THEY HAVE JUST SAID
HE'S LEAVING, SO JUST LET HIM SINK". I THINK THAT MIGHT REALLY BE THE CASE CAUSE HE IS REALLY A PRETTY GOOD DRIVER.

HOT:

1. DENNY HAMLIN: DENNY FINALLY BEAT THE JINX AND TURNED IN A TOTAL SHOW TONIGHT, HE STARTED GOOD, LEAD THE MOST LAPS, AND THIS TIME HE CROSSED THE FINISHLINE THE WINNER. IT WAS REALLY GOOD TO SEE DENNY PUT IT ALL TOGETHER IN HIS MORE OR LESS HOMETOWN.

2. KURT BUSCH: KURT STARTED THE RACE IN 13th AND BETWEEN THE GREAT WORK OF HIS TEAM IN THE PITS AND HIS EXCELLENT DRIVING HE FINISHED SECOND AND SECURED A GOOD SPOT IN THE CHASE. THE ANNOUCEMENT OF THE CREW CHIEF LEAVING DOESN'T SEEM TO HAVE HAD AN EFFECT AND WE CAN ONLY HOPE THAT IT CONTINUES.

3. JEFF GORDON: JEFF RAN A REALLY GOOD RACE, WHEN HE GOT BANGED AROUND A LITTLE HE HELD HIMSELF IN CHECK AND PAID ATTENTION TO THE IMPORTANT STUFF, LIKE FINISHING WELL AT RICHMOND AND SECURING A HALF WAY GOOD SPOT IN THE CHASE. HE STARTS 6th BUT THAT ISN'T NEARLY FAR ENOUGH BACK TO HAMPER HIS ABILITY TO WIN THE CHASE.

4. MARK MARTIN: I HAVE SAID ALL SEASON THAT "OLD AGE AND TALENT WILL OVERCOME YOUTH AND SPEED EVERYTIME" MARK DROVE HIMSELF A PERFECT RACE AND FINISHED 4th MOVING HIMSELF RIGHT INTO THE LEAD AS THE CHASE STARTS NEXT WEEK.

5. BRIAN VICKERS: THE RACE TONIGHT HAS GIVEN US A NEW FACE IN THE CHASE THIS YEAR. IN YEARS PAST BRIAN HAS BEEN NO MORE THEN A PAIN IN THE SIDE OF OTHER DRIVERS, BUT THIS YEAR HE HAS PROVEN TO BE A VERY GOOD DRIVER AND A A VERY DETERMINED DRIVER, CONGRATS TO BRIAN VICKERS.

COWBOY AWARD:

I WAS SO WAITING FOR "THORN" BUSCH TO EITHER THROW HIS LITTLE TEMPER TANTRUM OR STALK AWAY FROM THE MEDIA, IN HIS NORMAL FASHION, SO I COULD PUT HIM ON THE NOT LIST ONE MORE TIME, BUT ALAS KYLE WAS REALLY VERY GRACIOUS WORKING WITH THE MEDIA, GIVING ANSWERS TO QUESTIONS AND GIVING CREDIT WHERE CREDIT WAS DESERVED. HE TOOK AS MUCH BLAME AS HE HANDED OUT FOR THE OFF AND ON SEASON. THIS KID IS BECOMING A MAN, I THINK, AND FOR THAT I SALUTE HIM.

THAT'S HOW I SAW THE RACE AND I SORT OF HOPE YOU DID ALSO, NEXT WEEK WE START ALL OVER AND OF COURSE THE "OLD MAN" WILL BE LEADING THE WAY.

HOT OR NOT : THE NIGHT IS RIGHT
Monday, September 7, 2009, 02:28 PM EST [NASCAR]

GREETINGS FROM SW OKLAHOMA:

WELL FOLKS I PICKED THE TITLE BEFORE I WATCHED THE RACE, CAN'T SAY IT WAS BORING, BUT TO ME IT REALLY DIDN'T LIVE UP TO THE HOOPLA BEFORE HAND.

I AM NOT SURE WHAT I WAS EXPECTING BUT THERE REALLY DIDN'T SEEM TO BE THE EXCITEMENT THAT IS SO NORMAL AT ATLANTA AND AT A NIGHT RACE. YOU WOULD THINK IF YOU COMBINED THE TWO IT WOULD HAVE BEEN A WHIZ-BANG THING AND MAYBE TO ALL OF YOU IT WAS, BUT FOR ME THE WATKINS GLENN RACE WAS A BETTER RACE AND YOU KNOW HOW I FEEL ABOUT ROAD-RACES.

ANYWAY THIS IS HOW I SAW THE RACE AND I REALLY HOPE THAT A FEW OF YOU AGREE.

NOT:

1. NASCAR ORGANIZATION: THEY SCHEDULE A RACE AT NIGHT, WHERE THERE HASN'T BEEN A FULL NIGHT RACE BEFORE AND THEN DO NOT ALLOW ANY PRACTICE TIME AT NIGHT FOR PRACTICE, LOOKS LIKE THEY COULD HAVE BEEN ASKING FOR A TON OF PROBLEMS, BUT MAYBE NOT

2. DAVID STREMME: I THOUGHT DAVID WAS GOING TO MAKE IT ALL THE WAY THROUGH A RACE WITHOUT HITTING SOMETHING OR SOMEONE, BUT HE JUST COULDN'T DO IT. HE SMACKED BOBBY LABONTE WITH ABOUT 30 LAPS TO GO, JUST SO HE COULD KEEP HIS STRING IN TACT. HE HAS ALREADY LOST HIS RIDE FOR NEXT YEAR SO I SUPPOSE HE FIGURES IT REALLY DOESN'T MAKE ANY SENSE TO TRY TO IMPROVE NOW.

3. RICHARD CHILDRESS RACING: THIS ORGANIZATION HAS TOTALLY " FALLEN FROM GRACE" AND I REALLY DON'T KNOW WHY. THE LAST 2 OR 3 YEARS AT LEAST 3 OF THE GUYS FROM RCR HAVE MADE THE CHASE BUT THIS YEAR THERE WILL NOT BE A ONE. BOWYER WAS THEIR BEST SHOT AND HARVICK TOOK CARE OF THAT LAST WEEK. BETTER LUCK NEXT YEAR.

4. #14 TEAM : THE STEWART - HASS BOYS SEEM TO HAVE TAKEN A VACATION FOR THE LAST FEW WEEKS. IT IS RALLY A GOOD THING THEY HAVE SUCH A COMMANDING LEAD, THIS IS THE 3rd RACE IN A ROW WHERE A SMALL LAPSE HAS COST THEM, A DROPPED LUG NUT TOOK TONY OUT OF THE TOP 5 AND ENDED UP GIVING HIM AN 11th PLACE FINISH. THIS IS NOT SHABBY BUT WHEN FANS GET USED TO SEEING TOP 5's EVERY WEEK 11th AIN'T SO COOL.

5. CARL EDWARDS: A RUPTURED OIL COOLER EARLY IN THE RACE PLACED CARL IN THE CATCH-UP ROLE ALL NIGHT. THE ONLY THING THAT WAS TRAILING CARL WAS A STREAM OF OIL AS HE HEADED TO THE GARAGE, HE CAME BACK DOWN 23 LAPS AND FINISHED 37TH. THIS WAS NOT THE NIGHT TO BE RACING FOR THE AFLAC CANCER CENTER.

HOT:

1. MARK MARTIN: THE ELDER STATESMAN OF NASCAR JUST KEEPS ON KEEPING ON. MARK STARTED 7th AND BOBBED AND WEAVED HIS WAY THROUGH THE SLIPPIN AND SLIDIN' TO A 5th PLACE FINISH. HE IS STILL RIDING IN THE 10th PLACE SLOT IN THE CHASE AND I HAVE NO DOUBT THAT HE WILL STAY THERE OR MOVE UP BY THE END OF NEXT WEEKS RACE.

2. DAVID REUTIMANN: I GUESS DAVID HAS DECIDED TO NOT LISTEN TO TO THE FOLKS WHO KEEP SAYING HE SHOULD JUST LAY DOWN AND BE QUITE. DAVID PROVED ONCE AGAIN THIS WEEK THAT WHILE MWR MIGHT BE DOWN, THAT HE IS NOT DOWN AND NOT ABOUT TO "GO QUIETLY INTO THE NIGHT". DAVID WILL BE UP ON THE WHEEL, GOING FOR BROKE RIGHT UP TO THE FINAL CHECKERED FLAG AT HOMESTEAD.

3. JUAN PABLO MONTOYA: I REALLY DON'T LIKE THIS GUY, BUT HE IS DOING SO WELL AND BECOMING MORE AND MORE OF A THREAT EVERY WEEK. WHEN THE CHASE STARTS I EXPECT TO SEE JUAN RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE OF IT AND MAYBE AS HIGH AS THIRD OR FOURTH WHEN THE SMOKE CLEARS.

4. KEVIN HARVICK: IT IS SO GOOD TO BE ABLE TO PUT KEVIN ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THIS LIST FOR A CHANGE. HE DIDN'T HAVE CAR PROBLEMS TO CONTENT WITH , OR MAYBE THE "COME TO JESUS" MEETING THAT WAS HELD AT RCR THIS WEEK DID SOME GOOD, I REALLY DON'T KNOW BUT IT WAS REALLY COOL TO SEE KEVIN ROLLIN' LIKE AS IN DAYS OF OLD.

5. KASEY KAHNE: IT LOOKED LIKE MR. KAHNE WAS MORE THEN ABLE TO READ HIS CAR AND IT'S ABLILTIES LIKE A BOOK LAST NIGHT. HE KNEW THAT TO WIN HE HAD TO BE AT LEAST IN SECOND AND PRAY FOR A LATE RACE, SHORT DISTANCE CAUTION, AND I GUESS HIS PRAYERS WERE ANSWERED. WITH LESS THEN 15 LAPS LEFT HE PASSED KEVIN HARVICK LIKE MOSES CROSSED THE RED SEA AND TOOK THE CHECKERS. CONGRATS TO KASEY AND THE BUD CREW, ON A WELL RUN SMART RACE.

WELL FOLKS THAT IS HOW I SAW THE WINNERS AND LOSERS IN LAST NIGHTS RACE. NEXT WEEK IT IS ON TO RICHMOND AND MAY THE BEST GUYS WIN, AND THE REST BE SAFE. I HOPE SOME OF YOU SAW THE RACE THE WAY I DID, BUT EITHER WAY

THAT IS MY OPINION - WHAT'S YOURS

HOT OR NOT - THUNDER VALLEY- THUNDER ROAD
Sunday, August 23, 2009, 01:57 PM EST [NASCAR]

GREETINGS FROM SW OKLAHOMA:

THE RACE THIS WEEK WAS NOT BAD, BUT THE RACES OF OLD , WITH ALL THE BEATING AND BANGING, ARE GONE FOREVER, I AM AFRAID. YES, THERE WAS A PRETTY BIG ONE THANKS TO THE 29 CAR, BUT IN THE OLD DAYS WE WOULD HAVE SEEN 3 OR 4 LIKE THAT.

IT WASN'T A GREAT WEEK FOR THE TOP 12 CONTENDERS, 5 OF THEM: STEWART, GORDON, EDWARDS, MONTOYA, AND KAHNE ALL FINISHED OUTSIDE THE TOP 15. IF THEY KEEP THIS UP MONTOYA AND KAHNE MAY FIND THEMSELVES ON THE OUTSIDE LOOKING IN. HERE IS HOW I SAW THE RACE THIS WEEK.

NOT:

1. #14 TEAM: DURING THE LAST 2 WEEKS IT HAS SORT OF APPEARED THAT THEY HAVE BEEN RESTING ON THEIR LAURELS, EITHER THAT OR TONY PEAKED WAY TO EARLY AND IT IS GOING TO BE A LONG END OF THE SEASON.

2. #24 TEAM: THE CAR WAS LOUSY ALL NIGHT LONG, IT LOOKED LIKE THE TEAM JUST TOOK THE WEEK OFF AND WAS DEPENDING ON FAITH AND JEFF TO KEEP THEM UP AND RUNNING IN CONTENTION. GUESS WHAT, IT DIDN'T WORK. FELLA'S IT AINT OVER TILL IT'S OVER AS YOGI SAID ONE TIME.

3. KASEY KAHNE: 2 LAPS DOWN AND RACING AND BLOCKING THE RACE LEADER, MARK MARTIN IS SO MUCH KINDER THEN I AM. I THINK KASEY'S ANTICS MAY WELL HAVE COST MARK THE RACE. I DO BELIEVE THAT IF I WAS MARK MARTIN I WOULD HAVE A LITTLE " COME TO JESUS" MEETING WITH MR. KAHNE, AND TELL HIM IF YOU EVER PULL THAT ON ME AGAIN, I WILL PUT YOU IN THE NICKEL SEATS.

4. KEVIN HARVICK: JUST BECAUSE YOU ARE HAVING A BAD RACE AND SEASON, DON'T TAKE IT OUT ON YOUR TEAMMATE, THAT WRECK DAMAGED BOWYER'S CAR ALONG WITH SEVERAL OTHERS AND STARTED WHAT WAS TO BECOME A HORRIBLE NIGHT FOR THE 33 CAR, AND SORRY I DON'T BUY YOUR INTERVIEW EXPLANATION FOR ONE SECOND.

5. MICHAEL WALTRIP: STUPID MOVE NOT PITTING WITH THE REST OF THE CARS, THAT 5 POINTS WAS NOT GOING TO HELP YOU A BIT AND YOU VERY WELL MAY HAVE FINISHED WHAT HARVICK STARTED, " DRIVING THE LAST NAIL IN BOWYER'S COFFIN. I WONDER WHAT THE CHANCES ARE OF GETTING TRUEX IN YOUR CAR BEFORE THE NEXT RACE.

HOT

1. KYLE BUSCH: "THORN" STARTED 18th AND HAD A FEW PROBLEMS EARLY, BUT RATHER THEN WHINING AND THROWING A FIT, HE GAVE GOOD INFORMATION TO THE PIT CREW AND GOT BETTER ALL NIGHT LONG, I DO BELIEVE THAT HIS TALK WITH MR. ADDINGTON LAST WEEK PAID REWARDS, WE WILL JUST HAVE TO WAIT AND SEE IF THEY STAY IN PLACE. WITH A LITTLE LUCK AND 2 MORE GOOD FINISHES KYLE WILL MAKE THE CHASE AND THEN MORE OR LESS GET TO START ALL OVER AGAIN.

2. MARK MARTIN: I DO BELIEVE THAT MARK HAD "TONY THE TIGER" IN HIS TANK NOT JUST ON THE CAR. MARK RAN SUCH A GOOD RACE AND WAS MUCH KINDER TO KASEY KAHNE THE I WOULD HAVE BEEN. WITH HIS SECOND PLACE FINISH MARK MOVED UP 2 PLACES IN THE POINTS. SUPER RACE.

3. MARCUS AMBROSE: THIS CAT IS SO COOL, AND HUMBLE AT THE SAME TIME THAT IT IS HARD TO BELIEVE. STANDING THERE AFTER A 3rd PLACE FINISH AND SAYING HE DIDN'T FEEL HE DESERVED TO BE RACING WITH THOSE OTHER GUYS, MARCUS RAN AN ALMOST PERFECT RACE, CONTINUING TO PROVE THAT HE DESERVES TO BE IN NASCAR AND THAT HE WILL BE A FORCE TO RECKON WITH.

4. GREG BIFFLE: GREG HAD ANOTHER GOOD RACE, BUT HE JUST DOESN'T SEEM TO BE ABLE TO PUT EVERYTHING TOGETHER AT ONE TIME. GREG SORT OF REMINDS ME OF CHESTER ON THE OLD "GUNSMOKE" SERIES, HE IS ALWAYS RIGHT THERE BUT JUST A LITTLE LATE AND ONLY IN A SUPPORT ROLE. HE WILL MAKE THE CHASE, BUT I THINK HE WILL BE JUST AN "ALSO RAN" AGAIN.

5. DENNY HAMLIN: DENNY HAD A HECK OF A RACE, HE STARTED 41st AND FINISHED 5th, MOVING UP ONE SPOT FOR THE CHASE. THE YOUNG MAN HAS WHAT IT TAKES TO DO BIG THINGS AND I DO BELIEVE WE MAY SEE ANOTHER WIN OR TWO BEFORE THE END OF THE SEASON.

WELL FOLKS THAT IS HOW I SAW THE RUNNING OF THE RACE THIS WEEK, ALL OF THE TOP 10 GUYS SHOULD HAVE BEEN INCLUDED BUT JUST NOT ENOUGH ROOM FOR THAT , SO WILL JUST SAY THAT JOHNSON AND KURT BUSCH OVERCAME GIANT PROBLEMS TO FINISH WELL ALONG WITH KENSETH, AND NEWMAN AND EARNHARDT HAD EXTREMELY GOOD RUNS, I REALLY HOPE THE LAST 2 WEEKS ARE JUST A PEEK OF WHAT WE CAN EXPECT FROM JR. IN THE FUTURE THIS YEAR.

PLEASE TELL ME WHAT YOU SAW AND WHAT YOU THINK, GOOD BAD OR OTHERWISE I WANT YOUR VIEW.

THAT'S MY OPINION - WHAT'S YOURS

HOT & NOT - GEEZ, RAIN AND FUEL MILEAGE AGAIN
Sunday, August 16, 2009, 09:05 PM EST [NASCAR]

GREETINGS FROM SW OKLAHOMA:

WELL, EXCEPT FOR GUESSING WHO MIGHT RUN OUT OF GAS TODAY, YOU CAN'T SAY IT WAS A REAL EXCITING RACE, IT WASN'T BAD BUT NOT ONE WHERE YOU HAD TO SIT ON THE EDGE OF YOUR SEAT FOR.

JR. FANS GOT SOMETHING TO CHEER ABOUT DURING THE RACE NOT JUST DURING THE DRIVER INTRODUCTIONS, AND JOEY LAGANO AND SAM HORNISH JR. SHOWED THAT THEY DID IN FACT DESERVE TO BE IN NASCAR.

ALSO IT PROVED THAT YOU SHOULD NEVER BELIEVE A THING THAT A WEATHER MAN SAYS. THIS FUEL MILEAGE THING IS GETTING OUT OF HAND, MAYBE NASCAR SHOULD START PUTTING IN A REQUIRED CAUTION WITH 10 OR 15 LAPS TO GO, THAT WOULD PUT AN END TO THIS FUEL MILEAGE JUNK AND WE WOULD SEE SOME GOOD OLD-FASHIONED DIRT TRACK SCRAMBLING AT THE END OF THE RACES.

THIS IS HOW I SAW THE RACE AND I HOPE THAT A FEW OF YOU SAW IT MORE OR LESS THE SAME WAY, IF NOT TELL US WHAT YOU SAW DIFFERENT, IT WON'T MEAN THAT I AM WRONG OR YOU ARE RIGHT JUST HOW DIFFERENT FOLKS SAW THE RACE.

NOT:

1. CHAD KNAUS: I GUESS TODAY PROVES THAT CHAD IS NOT INVINCIBLE, HIS MISCALL ON PITTING FOR FUEL CAUSED THE MOST DOMINANT CAR TO COAST IN FOR A 33 rd PLACE FINISH AND DROPPED JIMMIE JOHNSON TO THIRD IN THE CHASE. THIS MISTAKE DID NOT COST JIMMIE A LOT BUT CHAD KNOWS JIMMIE IS UNEASY WITH THIS TYPE OF THING AND IN THIS CASE HE NEEDS TO LISTEN TO THE DRIVER.

2. ALAN GUSTAFSON: JUST LIKE HIS HMS FELLOW CREWCHIEF, ALAN MADE THE CALL OR DIDN'T MAKE THE CALL, EITHER WAY IT COST MARK MARTIN BIG TIME. MARK RAN THE BIGGEST PART OF THE RACE IN THE TOP 3 TO 5 SPOTS ONLY TO FINISH 31st BECAUSE HE RAN OUT OF GAS. THIS MISTAKEALSO DROPPED HIM 1 SPOT IN THE CHASE TO 12th , AND NOW I HAVE TO THINK THAT RATHER THEN STANDING ON THE BUBBLE HE IS JUST HANGING ON TO THE EDGE OF IT WITH BOTH HANDS.

3. ROBBY GORDON: HIT THE WALL BLEW A TIRE AND THE REST OF HIS DAY ALL IN ONE FELL SWOOP. HE STARTED 24th AND FINISHED 37th, SOME FOLKS WOULD SAY HE IS SPENDING TO MUCH TIME ON QUALIFING.

4. PAUL MENARD: PAUL GOT THE LEAD ON A CAUTION AND LOST IT BEFORE HE WAS COMPLETELY ACROSS THE START-FINISH LINE ON THE RESTART. HE IS THE POSTERBOY FOR THE FACT THAT WHILE "DADDY'S MONEY" CAN BUY YOU ARIDE IT CAN NOT BUY TALENT OR ABILITY.

5. KURT BUSCH: KURT SEEMED TO BE RUNNING A LITTLE TO MUCH ON THE CAUTIOUS SIDE FROM THE START OF THE RACE, THEN HE CLIPPED DAVID REGAN AND THEY BOTH WENT SPINNING, BUT KURT TOOK THE BRUNT OF THE DAMAGE AND SPENT A BUNCH OF LAPS IN THE GARAGE. THIS MISTAKE COST KURT 2 POSITIONS IN THE CHASE. HE IS STILL SITTING RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE BUT DOES NOT NEED ANY MORE RACES LIKE TODAY.

6. KEVIN HARVICK: FOR THE SECOND WEEK IN A ROW KEVIN'S MOUTH HAS GOTTEN HIM ON THE DOWN SIDE OF THE HOT OR NOT. HAVING PROBLEMS IS BAD ENOUGH AND CAUSES ENOUGH STRESS ON THE TEAM, BUT TO THEN HAVE THE DRIVER SAY THAT IT IS NO MORE THEN WE DESERVE, IS JUST TOTALLY UNCALLED FOR. I THINK KEVIN MAY BE TRYING TO GET MR. CHILDRESS TO FIRE HIM SO HE DOES NOT HAVE TO HONOR THE LAST YEAR OF HIS CONTRACT AND CAN TRY TO GET ON WITH STEWART-HASS RACING.

HOT:

1. BRIAN VICKERS: FINALLY BRIAN WAS ABLE TO PUT ALL THE GOOD STUFF TOGETHER AT ONE TIME AND WIN A RACE, BRIAN'S LAST WIN WAS IN 2006 (I THINK) AND HE IS MORE REMEMBERED FOR TAKING OUT JIMMIE JOHNSON AND DALE EARNHARDT TO WIN THE RACE THEN ANYTHING ELSE. CONGRATS TO BRIAN A WELL DESERVED WIN.

2. JEFF GORDON: JEFF SHOWED THE STYLE AND ABILITIES TODAY THAT HAVE BROUGHT HIM ALL OF HIS CHAMPIONSHIPS. HE DROVE HARD ENOUGH TO STAY WELL WITHIN STRIKING DISTANCE, BUT SMART ENOUGH TO KEEP THE CAR ALL IN ONE PIECE AND ENOUGH FUEL IN THE CAR TO CROSS THE FINISH LINE WITH THE MOTOR STILL RUNNING.

3. #88 RACING TEAM: THERE IS NO WAY TO SAY JR. DID THIS, OR McGREW DID THIS OR THE PIT GUYS DID THIS, IT WAS A TOTAL TEAM THING START TO FINISH. McGREW BUILT THE CAR AND MADE THE RIGHT CALL, EVEN IF JR. WSN'T SURE IT WAS RIGHT, THE PIT CREW MADE NO MISTAKES IN THE PITS AND JR. KEPT THE CAR OFF THE WALL AND DROVE THE WHEELS OFF OF IT.

4. CARL EDWARDS: "THE DUCK" KEPT HIS DRIVER IN THE GROOVE ALL DAY TODAY AND OUT OF TROUBLE. CARL DODGED A COUPLE OF CLOSE ONES THEN PUSHED HARD AT JUST THE RIGHT TIME. THIS AND KURT BUSCH'S BAD LUCK MOVED CARL UP 2 SLOTS IN THE CHASE. COULD A DRIVER WITH NO WINS REALLY WIN THE CHAMPIONSHIP?

5. SAM HORNISH JR.: WITH A 4th AND A 5th IN 2 OF THE LAST 3 RACES, SAM IS PROVING THAT HE BELONGS IN NASCAR. ALSO THE ABILITY TO REBOUND AFTER THE CRASH LAST WEEK SPEAKS VOLUMES ABOUT SAM'S WANT TO MAKE IT IN NASCAR. HE IS STILL A LONG WAY FROM THE CHASE BUT SAM MOVED UP 2 PLACES IN THE STANDINGS, AND THIS IS A GOOD SIGN FOR THE FUTURE.

6. JOEY LAGANO : THIS KID IS MAKING IMPROVMENTS EVERY WEEK AND GETTING BETTER AND BETTER, WHILE STILL APPEARING TO BE HUMBLED BY THE WHOLE EXPERIENCE. I AM STILL NOT SURE THAT " HE IS THE GREATEST THING SINCE SLICED BREAD" BUT FOLKS HE AIN'T BAD AND IS GETTING BETTER ALL THE TIME.

GUYS AND GALS THIS IS HOW I SAW THE RACE TODAY, IF I MISSED ANYTHING TELL ME, AND IF I SAW SOMETHING THAT YOU DIDN'T TELL ME THAT ALSO. IF THE LORD IS WILLING AND THE CREEK DON'T RISE, I'LL SEE YA NEXT WEEK RIGHT HERE ABOUT 7:05.

HOT OR NOT - SMOKE 'N THE GLEN
Monday, August 10, 2009, 08:12 PM EST [NASCAR]

GREETINGS FROM SW OKLAHOMA:

WELL FOLKS, WE HAVE TO ALL SAY A LITTLE PRAYER TO THE RACING GODS FOR NO MORE MONDAY RACES, IS JUST SEEMS THAT THE MOOD NEVER GETS QUITE RIGHT.

WE SAW QUITE A CROSS - SECTION OF DRIVING THIS WEEK, OF COURSE WE HAD OUR REGULAR WRECK OF THE WEEK BY MR. STREMME AND THE SUPER DUPER FEATURE, WITH KASEY KAHNE, SAM HORNISH JR., JEFF GORDON AND JEFF BURTON. WE ALSO SAW EXCELLENT DRIVING AND PIT WORK FROM BOTH MARCUS AMBROSE, TONY STEWART AND THEIR TEAMS.

THIS MY FRIENDS IS HOW I SAW THE RACE, I HOPE WE WERE WATCING MORE OR LESS THE SAME ONE.

NOT:

1. DAVID STREMME: ANOTHER WEEK AND ANOTHER WRECK AND 2 MORE GOOD CARS READY FOR THE JUNK PILE, STREMME MORE OR LESS TOOK OUT KEVIN HARVICK AND PUT QUITE A DAMPER ON JEFF GORDON'S DAY EARLY. I WOULD HAVE TO GO BACK AND CHECK CLOSE BUT HAS THERE BEEN A WEEK WHEN DAVID DIDN'T WRECK EITHER HIMSELF OR ANOTHER DRIVER.

2. RYAN NEWMAN: RYAN SHOULD HAVE HAD A PRETTY GOOD DAY BUT A EARLY TRIP TO THE PITS FOR A BATTERY CHANGE SORT OF BROUGHT HIS GOOD DAY TO A STOP REALLY QUICK. HE ENDED UP 21st , BUT HE DID MANAGE TO HANG ON TO HIS 9th PLACE SLOT IN THE STANDINGS.

3. KEVIN HARVICK: I KNOW THAT KEVIN HAS HAD A TOUGH YEAR AND WHAT HAPPENED TODAY WITH STREMME JUST ADDED FUEL TO THE FIRE, BUT KEVIN'S DISPLAY OF ATTITUDE JUST DID NOT GO OVER REAL WELL WITH ME. I CAN NOT BELIEVE THAT HE SAID THAT HE HOPED HIS CAR WOULD NOT BEABLE TO RETURN TO THE RACE. IF THAT IS HIS ATTITUDE THEN MAYBE MR. CHILDRESS MIGHT WANT TO THINK ABOUT SITTING HIM ON THE PIT BOX NEXT WEEK.

4. DALE EARNHARDT JR.: JR. HAS TO BE WISHING THAT HE COULD TURN THE 88 CAR INTO A TIME MACHINE AND PROPEL FORWARD TO THE DAYTONA 500 2010. DALE HAS HAD SO MUCH BAD LUCK THIS YEAR, MUCH OF IT HIS OWN MAKING, BUT ALSO A LOT OF IT DUE TO CAR PROBLEMS AND MISHAPS IN THE PITS, HERE'S HOPING FOR BETTER LUCK AND BETTER RUNS IN THE FUTURE AND IN 2010.

5. KASEY KAHNE: KASEY HAD A SHORT LAPSE IN DRIVER ABILITY TODAY, AND CAUSED THE SUPER DUPER FEATURE FOR WATKINS GLEN, HE DROVE SAM HORNISH JR. INTO THE TIRE WALL WHICH WAS BAD ENOUGH, THEN SAM SLINGSHOTTED BACK ACROSS THE TRACK COLLECTING JEFF GORDON AND JEFF BURTON IN THE TRIP. IT IS TRULY A MIRACLE THAT THOSE 3 DRIVERS WALKED AWAY IN ONE PIECE. KASEY A LITTLE LESS SPEED OR A LITTLE MORE PRACTICE ON THE ROAD COURSES.

HOT:

1. TONY STEWART: TONY PROVED TODAY THAT WATKINS GLEN IS HIS HOUSE MUCH THE SAME WAY LOWE'S MOTOR SPEEDWAY IS JIMMY JOHNSON'S. TONY WORE BOTH THE DRIVER HAT AND THE CREW CHIEF HAT TODAY AND IT PAID OFF IN SPADES. HE STARTED 13th AND WON WHAT TURNED OUT TO BE ANOTHER FUEL RACE. HE CONTINUES TO LEAD THE CHASE AND IS REALLY BEGINNING TO LOOK LIKE HE WILL GO INTO THE CHASE AS THE MAN IN THE NUMBER ONE SPOT.

2. MARCUS AMBROSE: LOOKING AT THE STARTING POSITION (4th) AND THE FINISH POSITION (2nd), IT APPEARS THAT MARCUS DROVE AROUND FOR 90 LAPS AND SOMEWHERE IN THERE PICKED UP 2 PLACES, BUT THIS IS NOT THE CASE AT ALL, MARCUS DROVE AN EXCELLENT RACE, DISPLAYING AN ABILITY TO MOVE AROUND WITHIN THE PACK AND TO KEEP HIS CAR ALL IN ONE PIECE, USING WHAT APPEARED TO BE A VERY STRANGE PIT STRATEGY MARCUS COMPLETED HIS BEST FINISH IN CUP RACING AND WAS ABLE TO MOVE UP TO 17th IN THE POINTS STANDINGS.

3. CARL EDWARDS: THE "LUCK OF THE DUCK" STRIKES AGAIN. CARL STARTED THE RACE AT ABOUT THE CORNINGWARE FACTORY AND RAN AN EXCELLENT RACE, HE WAS ABLE TO MAKE UP SLOTS ALL DURING THE RACE ON RESTARTS AND THE FACT THAT HE WAS ABLE TO MISS THE BIG ONES AND THE LITTLE FENDER BENDERS ALLOWED HIM TO FINISH 3rd FOR ONE OF HIS BETTER FINISHES ON A ROAD COURSE.

4. GREG BIFFLE: MUCH LIKE AMBROSE, IF YOU ONLY LOOK AT GREG'S START POSITION AND FINISH POITION IT LOOKS LIKE HE CRUISED AROUND FOR A WHILE AND THE RACE WAS OVER, BUT THAT IS FAR FROM THE TRUTH, GREG WAS RIGHT SMACK IN THE MIDDLE OF THE FRAY ALL DAY LONG, HE KEPT ALL OF THE CAR PARTS IN THEIR CORRECT PLACE AND DODGED THE PILE-UPS THUS ALLOWING GREG TO GET A GOOD TOP 10 FINISH AND MOVE UP 2 PLACES TO 10th IN THE STANDINGS.

5. JUAN PABLO MONTOYA: JUAN STARTED 10th AND FINISHED 6th, THUS MOVING HIM UP 1 SPOT IN THE STANDINGS FOR THE CHASE. HE IS GETTING BETTER AND BETTER AND MORE COMFORTABLE IN THE CAR EVERY WEEK. ONE THING THAT I THINK IS HELPING HIM ALOT IS THAT HE APPEARS TO HAVE DECIDED TO LET HIS FINISHES PROVE THAT HE HAS EARNED A PLACE IN NASCAR.

FOLKS THIS WAS A GOOD RACE, AND COMING FROM ME, THAT SAYS ALOT, I DON'T LIKE ROAD RACING AND MAYBE IT IS BECAUSE I UNDERSTAND LESS ABOUT IT THEN I DO REGULAR TRACK RACING, AND I STILL HAVE SO SO MUCH TO LEARN ABOUT THAT. I HOPE A FEW OF YOU AGREE WITH WHAT I SAW, AND WILL SEE YOU NEXT WEEK IF THE LORD IS WILLING AND THE CREEK DON'T RISE.

GREETINGS FROM SW OKLAHOMA:

WELL TO SAY THE LEAST, IT IS AN EXCITING RACE AND I SUPPOSE THE BEST DRIVER WON. THE RACE BEING RAINED OUT YESTERDAY REALLY DID CAUSE A PROBLEM FOR ME SINCE I DID HAVE TO WORK TODAY, BUT FRIENDS AND FAMILY COVERED THE EARLY PART AND I BROUGHT UP THE REAR, AS NORMAL

I WOULD LIKE TO TAKE JUST A SECOND TO SAY TO THE FAMILY OF DENNY HAMLIN, THAT THE THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS OF MY FAMILY GOES OUT TO THEM IN THIS TIME OF SORROW, AND WHILE THE WIN TODAY WILL NOT EASE THE PAIN, IT IS A COMFORTING THOUGHT TO KNOW THAT YOUR GRANDMOTHER WAS RIGHT THERE WITH YOU AND SHE COULD NOT BE ANY HAPPIER.

NOW ON TO HOW I AND MY BACKUP CREW SAW THE RACE, I HOPE AT LEAST A COUPLE OF YOU AGREE WITH WHAT I SAW, AND IF YOU DON'T PLEASE CHIME IN WITH HOW YOU SAW IT.

NOT:

1. KYLE BUSCH: "THORN" CONTINUES TO HAVE PROBLEMS, HE STARTED 14TH DUE TO THE RAIN LINEUP AND FINISHED 16th, BUT IN BETWEEN HE RAN ALL OVER THE BACK OF THE PACK , AND FROM LOOKING AT HIS CAR I WOULD SAY HE RAN ALL OF THE WALL AS WELL.

2. DAVID REGAN: NOT PAYING ATTENTION, THIS CLOWN WIPED OUT BOBBY LABONTE, AND THE RESULTING WRECK TOOK OUT A BUNCH OF OTHERS INCLUDING MIKE WALTRIP AND JOEY LAGANO. DAVID YOU HAVE TO WATCH WHAT IS GOING ON AROUND YOU, MAYBE YOU NEED TO RIDE SHOTGUN WITH LABONTE FOR A RACE OR TWO AT LEAST HE CAN SHOW YOU WHAT TO LOOK FOR. I REALLY WONDER IF UPS IS HOPING THAT DALE JARRETT WILL COME OUT OF RETIREMENT.

3. CARL EDWARDS: "THE DUCK" DID NOT FAIR SO WELL TODAY, CARL STARTED IN THE 5th POSITION AND FINISHED A VERY BORING 18th, BY HIS OWN ADMISSION HIS LESS THEN STELLAR PERFORMANCE WAS MUCH MORE HIS FAULT RATHER THEN CAR PROBLEMS OR OTHER DRIVERS. POOR CHOICES LEFT HIM IN BAD TRACK POSITION A GOOD PART OF THE RACE.

4. DALE EARNHARDT JR: JR. STARTED 22nd AND WORKED HIS WAY UP TO 10th AND WAS RUNNING WELL, THEN THE NEXT TIME I LOOKED JR. WAS DROPPING THRU THE FIELD LIKE A ROCK AND ENDED UP 28th.I AM NOT SURE WHAT BROUGHT ABOUT THE SUDDEN REVERSE, BUT IT SORT OF LOOKED LIKE THE JR. OF OLD, START FAST, RUN GOOD, THE TUBE OUT AT THE END.

5. DAVID STREMME: I HAVE SAID IT BEFORE AND WILL SAY IT AGAIN, THIS GUY NEEDS TO BE TAKEN OUT OF THE CAR AND PUT IN THE CHEAP SEATS TO JUST WATCH THE RACE. IF THEY ALLOW HIM TO STAY IN THE CAR HE WILL EVENTUALLY GET SOMEONE KILLED.

6. ROBBY GORDON: WHEN YOU LET YOUR MOTORBOAT MOUTH OVER LOAD YOUR STEAMBOAT FANNY, YOUR GONNA GET IN TROUBLE, TELLING EVERYONE IN THE FREE WORLD YOU WERE GONNA WRECK STREMME WAS NOT VERY SMART, BESIDES HAVEN'T YOU LEARNED BY NOW THAT THE GUY WHO HITS SECOND IS ALWAYS THE ONE WHO GETS CAUGHT AND IN TROUBLE.

7. DAVID REUTIMANN: SOMETIMES I THINK SOMETHING WOULD HAPPEN TO PREVENT DAVID FROM HAVING A GOOD RACE IF HE WAS THE ONLY CAR IN THE RACE. DAVID HAD A GOOD RUN GOING THEN GOT PLOWED BY DENNY HAMLIN AND FINISHED 29th, DROPPING HIM TO 16th IN THE CHASE AND JUST THAT MUCH FURTHER BACK FROM THE REALLY BIG SHOW.

HOT:

1. DENNY HAMLIN: WELL FINALLY DENNY DID BETTER THEN ALMOST, HE DROVE A VERY AGGRESSIVE RACE WHICH ENDED UP WIPING OUT REUTIMANN AND AMBROSE, BUT I GUESS THE END JUSTIFIES THE MEANS.

2. JUAN PABLO MONTOYA: JUAN STARTED 10th AND RAN A VERY GOOD RACE, FINISHING SECOND MOVED HIM UP 2 PLACES IN THE CHASE TO 8th, I HAVE AN IDEA THAT IF HE CONTINUES TO IMPROVE THAT HE CAN BE A REAL THREAT IN THE FINAL 12, AND THEN MAYBE FOLKS LIKE ME WILL START TO FORGET THAT HE RAN OPEN WHEEL FIRST.

3. CLINT BOWYER: CLINT STARTED 16th AND HE RAN A HECK OF A RACE, HE LED A BUNCH OF LAPS, AND HAD IT NOT BEEN FOR MESSED UP FENDERS FROM AN EARLIER RUN-IN HE MIGHT WELL HAVE HELD OFF HAMLIN AND HAVE GOTTEN THE WIN. CLINT NEEDS TO MAKE UP 115 POINTS TO GET TO THE CHASE AND I THINK HE MIGHT JUST DO IT. NOT BAD FOR A GUY WHO STARTED THE SEASON WITH BRAND NEW EVERYTHING.

4. SAM HORNISH JR.: WOW, WHERE DID THIS GUY COME FROM. SAM HAD A SUPER RUN TODAY, HE STARTED 29th AND I HAVE TO SAY " ALL THE BREAKS CAME HIS WAY." THIS WAS SAM'S BEST RUN TO DATE IN NASCAR AND HERE IS HOPING IT IS JUST A GLIMPSE OF GOOD THINGS TO COME.

5. KASEY KAHNE: THE "BUD MAN" IS COMING TO LIFE IN THE LATE STAGES OF THE 2009 RUN. I THINK HIS SPEAKING HIS PIECE IN THE GARAGE AND TO THE MEDIA SHOWS THAT HE IS MATURING AND BECOMING THE LEADER THE BUD TEAM NEEDED, LOOK FOR ANOTHER WIN OR TWO BEFORE THE END AND KASEY WILL BE IN THE MIDDLE OF IT BEFORE IT IS OVER.

6. JIMMIE JOHNSON: WHAT HAS TO HAPPEN FOR THIS GUY TO HAVE A BAD RACE, HE WAS 3 LAPS DOWN, HAD TO CHANGE HALF THE JUNK IN THE MOTOR AND WAS, FOR ALL PRACTICIAL PURPOSES OUT OF THE RACE, AND ENDS UP IN 13th PLACE. I THINK THAT IF THERE HAD BEEN 10 MORE LAPS THAT DENNY WOULD HAVE HAD ANOTHER "ALMOST" AND JOHNSON WOULD HAVE HAD HIS 4th WIN OF THE SEASON.

7. TONY STEWART: TONY STARTED 43rd AND HAD WHAT COULD BEST BE DESCRIBED AS " A TANK" DURING THE FIRST HALF OF THE RACE. SO ONCE AGAIN GOOD DRIVING AND EXTRA HARD WORK IN THE PITS, AND MOST LIKELY A LITTLE LUCK, ALLOWED TONY TO FINISH 10th AND RETAIN THE LEAD IN THE CHASE. JUST LIKE I SAID WITH J.J., HAD THERE BEEN ANOTHER 10 LAPS, I AM PRETTY SURE TONY WOULD HAVE ENDED UP WITH AT LEAST A TOP 5 AND MAYBE JUST MAYBE A REPEAT OF THE GET THE POLE, CRASH YOUR CAR, START FROM THE BACK, WIN THE RACE DEAL THAT HE HAD A COUPLE OF WEEKS AGO.

WELL FOLKS THAT IS HOW I SAW THE RACE, JUST WISH I COULD HAVE SEEN IT ON SUNDAY, MONDAY IS SUCH A NON-RACE DAY. HOPE YOU ENJOYED MY VIEW OF THE RACE AND IF NOT CHIME IN A LITTLE AND LET US KNOW WHAT YOU THOUGHT.

THAT'S MY OPINION - WHAT'S YOURS
