HOT OR NOT - THE VALLY OF THE SUN (HOO HUMM)

GREETINGS FROM SW OKLAHOMA:
FOLKS I AM NOT SURE IF IT WAS JUST ME OR IF THE ENTIRE RACING COMMUNITY JUST SORT OF WENT ON CRUISE-CONTROL TODAY, WITH THE EXCEPTION OF A COUPLE OF DRIVERS EVERYONE SEEMED TO BE DRIVING AROUND KILLING TIME. I WONDER IF MOST OF THEM HAVE ALREADY GIVEN THE 09 CHAMPIONSHIP TO JIMMIE JOHNSON AND ARE PASSING TIME TILL NEXT SEASON. THIS IS HOW I SAW THE RACE TODAY AND I TRULY HOPE AT LEAST A FEW OF YOU SAW IT DIFFERENT THEN I DID.

NOT:

TONY STEWART: TONY DREW THE NUMBER 8 STARTING SPOT BUT DUE TO AN ILL HANDLING CAR AFTER WRECK DAMAGE HE DROPPED LIKE A ROCK TO FINISH IN 25th. TONY HELD HIS POSITION IN THE CHASE, BUT HE HAS GONE BACKWARDS RHATER THEN FORWARD SINCE THE START OF THE CHASE.

BRIAN VICKERS: BRIAN STARTED 19th AND DOUBLED HIS POSITION BY THE END OF THE RACE, THE PROBLEM IS HE DID IT IN REVERSE, FINISHING 38th AND ONE MORE TIME MAKING FOLKS WONDER IF HE SHOULD HAVE BEEN THERE TO START WITH.

CARL EDWARDS: CARL STARTED 25th AND MOVED TO A FAIRLY DECENT FINISH OF 16th, BUT THIS HAS NOT BEEN THE CARL WE HAVE GROWN USE TO SEEING THE LAST COUPLE OF YEARS. TAKING CARL'S RUNS THIS YEAR ALONG WITH THE REST OF THE ROUSH TEAMS I HAVE TO THINK IT IS REALLY MORE OF A COMPANY PROBLEM RAHTER THEN A TEAM OR DRIVER PROBLEM.

KASEY KAHNE: ONCE AGAIN A GOOD STARTING POSITION DID KASEY NO GOOD WHAT SO EVER, THE PROBLEMS AT THE COMPANY LEVEL HAVE PUT KASEY IN A POSITION THAT HE DOESN'T KNOW IF HE IS HORSEBACK OR AFOOT, HOPEFULLY HE CAN MAKE IT THROUGH NEXT WEEK AND THAT THEY WILL GET THINGS SETTLED OUT BEFORE NEXT YEAR.

GREG BIFFLE: GREG STARTED 6th AND FINISHED 14th, THIS REVERSE MOVEMENT HAS BEEN VERY COMMON FOR THE ROUSCH DRIVERS THIS SEASON, THE WHOLE COMPANY NEEDS TO BE REVAMPED BECAUSE THEIR PERFORMANCE HAS MORE OR LESS BEEN SUB-PAR ALL SEASON LONG.

HOT:
MARTIN TRUEX JR.: MARTIN IS DOING HIS BEST TO MAKE DEI LOOK LIKE THE COMPANY THAT DALE SR. BUILT. HE IS WORKING HARD TO SET HIMSELF UP FOR HIS MOVE TO MWR AND I THINK HE WILL BE VERY SUCCESSFUL.

JEFF BURTON: JEFF CONTINUES TO PROVE WHAT I HAVE BEEN SAYING ABOUT THE OLDER DRIVERS IN NASCAR, GIVE THEM SOMETHING CLOSE TO GOOD EQUIPMENT AND THEY WILL TAKE IT TO THE FRONT AND MAKE THE COMPANY PROUD.

DENNY HAMLIN: WITH THE ATTITUDE AND DRIVE THIS YOUNG MAN HAS, IN 15 YEARS I CAN SEE HIM BEING CALLED THE SECOND COMING OF MARK MARTIN. WITH 3 DNF'S IN THE LAST 9 RACES IT WOULD HAVE BEEN SO EASY FOR DENNY TO SAY "TO HELL WITH THIS SEASON" BUT HIS PRIDE AND DERTERMINATION WOULDN'T LET HIM DO IT. DENNY WILL CONTINUE TO IMPROVE AND IN THE NEAR FUTURE WILL HAVE A CHAMPIONSHIP OF HIS OWN.

MARK MARTIN: ONE MORE TIME I THINK MARK IS GOING TO BE A GROOMSMAN AND NOT THE GROOM, BUT FOR A 3 TIME CHAMPION, SOON TO BE 4 , TO SAY THIS IS THE GUY I WORRY ABOUT THE MOST SPEAKS VOLUMES ABOUT MARK MARTIN. REGUARDLESS OF THE OUTCOME OF NEXT WEEKS RACE MARK MARTIN IS A CHAMPION IN EVERY SENSE OF THE WORD.

JIMMIE JOHNSON: FOLKS THERE IS NOT MUCH LEFT TO SAY ABOUT THIS GUY, HE GIVES CREDIT WHERE CREDIT IS DUE, HE ACCEPTS RESPONSIBILITY WHEN THINGS GO WRONG THEN SHAKES IT OFF AND GOES BACK TO GETTING IT DONE. JIMMIE IS AS GOOD A CHOICE FOR THE FIRST 4 TIME CONSECUTIVE CHAMPIONSHIP DRIVER AS COULD BE MADE WITH THE DRIVERS WHO ARE ON THE CIRCUIT TODAY.

WELL FOLKS THERE IS ONLY ONE LEFT TO GO AND IT IS NEXT WEEK AT HOMESTEAD, I REALLY HOPE IT IS A LITTLE MORE EXCITING THEN THIS WEEK, BUT EITHER WAY I WILL BE WATCHING AND TAKING NOTES. HAVE A GREAT WEEK AND I WILL SEE YOU NEXT WEEK IF THE LORD IS WILLIN' AND THE CREEK DON'T RISE.

THAT'S MY OPINION -- WHAT'S YOURS

  1. No Junior on Not GUNNY? Esp after he took out Smoke on Cindi's birthday! LOL Thought for sure he would be the first one listed...poor Junior! I hope he shakes this funk before Feb.

Throwing props to my #2 team - only one with a shot of breaking up the HMS 1-2-3 at the top and a strong run again on Sunday with a lame duck CC.

  2. I expected more from Vickers in the chase too. But remember the success they had leading up to the chase? That might have been all they had.
I have trouble feeling too sorry for Jack Roush, sorry no disrespect to Cat in the Hat fans. But I think Kenseth, Edwards, Biffle, and definetely Ragan deserve better. Mc Murray might be the lucky one. He's leaving.

  7. Hey, Gun, you do know that I was just kidding you don't you? I don't disagree with everything you said. I was just trying to joke around with you...maybe poorly.

  8. Well, since I only watched the pre-race show, the drop of the green, I caught the wreck caused by Jr., and I saw Jimmie take the checkers. Can't say I disagree with anything you said. lol

Don't know if the rest of the field is on cruise, but I know that I am. I am spending as much time outside, since I got over this sinus crap, that I can with the dogs, before the cold really sits in here. lol

Maybe Homestead will be a better race for you. I will be thinking about you as I am watching old rerun movies and playing with the dogs. I am already in the off season. lol

See ya in February. (Just kidding I will be back next week for your Hots/Nots.)

YOU WERE WITHIN 2 SECONDS OF A PHONE CALL TO FIND OUT WHAT IN THE WORLD I HAD DONE WRONG.

BUT YOU ARE SO RIGTH, IF YOU DISAGREE EVER LET ME KNOW AND WE WILL SEE WHAT I CAN SEE FROM YOUR SIDE. DON'T YOU EVER THINK YOU CAN'T SAY WHAT YOU WANT OR THINK.

  11. Too bad for Tony and he seemed to have such promise going into the chase.

Crikey! Looks like Johnson wins another title.

On a lighter note, the Cincinnati Bwngals won several games so far this year. This will be a record for them to win more than one game in a season.

  13. Gunny I think you are so right about this winter. We don't usually get alot of snow here. Maybe a few light flurries and a little dusting. But the last time El Nino showed its head, we got hit with one of the biggest snows around here. We got about 4 feet of snow. I know nothing compared to what you folks see out in Oklahoma. But it causes the people around here to act like they have never seen snow before. hahaha Wreck Galore, especially on the main drag just a 1/2 mile from my house.
