TSFAN, HOW'S THIS FOR A DIFFERENT FORMAT

GREETINGS FROM SW OKLAHOMA:

FOLKS ALL OF US HAVE BEEN HOLLARING ABOUT THE CHASE FROM THE GET GO, BUT NOW THAT IT APPEARS THE THE 48 IS GOING TO SEAL NUMBER 4 WE ARE SORT OF ALL YELLING AT THE SAME TIME.

TSFAN IS THE FIRST TO OFFER A SOLUTION TO THE CHASE, WATCH THE FIRST 26 RACES, DECLARE YOUR OWN CHAMPION, THEN FIND SOMETHING ELSE TO DO FOR THE LAST 10 RACES. BUT I FOR ONE DON'T WANT TO LOSE HER FOR THE LAST 10 RACES, I CAME UP WITH AN ALTERNATE TO THE CURRENT CHASE.

NASCAR RUNS THE SEASON MORE OR LESS THE WAY IT IS RUN NOW, AFTER THEY GET THEIR TOP 12 IS WHEN THE CHANGE TAKES PLACE. THERE ARE 12 CHASERS AND 10 RACES, SO AFTER THE FIRST RACE THE 2 DRIVERS WITH THE WORST FINISHES ARE CUT FROM THE CHASE AND BECOME THE 12th AND 11th PLACE DRIVERS FOR THE SEASON. FROM THEN ON TILL THE END OF THE SEASON THE DRIVER IN THE CHASE WITH THE WORST FINISH FOR THAT RACE IS CUT FROM THE CHASE AND TAKES THE NEXT SPOT UP THE CHAIN TILL YOU GET TO THE LAST RACE AT HOMESTEAD AND WE HAVE 2 DRIVERS LEFT, THE WORST FINISH AT HOMESTEAD BETWEEN THE TWO REMAINING CHASERS IS SECOND AND THE BETTER FINISH IS THE CHAMPION.

WE HAVE BEEN TOLD FOR YEARS THAT NASCAR STRESSES THE CONSISTENCY RAHTER THEN WINS TO DETERMINE THE CHAMPION AND THIS WOULD CERTAINLY DO THAT. FIRST OFF HE WOULD HAVE HAD TO BE AT LEAST ONE OF THE TOP 12 MOST CONSISTENT DURING THE 26 RACES OF THE REGULAR SEASON AND WOULD CERTAINLY HAVE BEEN THE MOST CONSISTENT DURING THE CHASE.

I AM GOING TO BACK TRACK TO RACE ONE OF THE CHASE THIS YEAR AND FOLLOW IT TO THE END OF THE SEASON JUST TO SEE HOW IT WORKS OUT.

I KNOW ALL OF US HAVE IDEAS OF HOW THIS SHOULD BE CHANGED SO WHY NOT GET A BUCH OF THEM TOGETHER AND THEN JSUT FOR THE HELL OF IT SEND THEM TO NASCAR IN BOOK FORM?

THAT'S MY OPINION - WHAT'S YOURS

  1. So you were paying attention to my little rant! lol
First let me say, as much as I might threaten to stop awatching after the first 26 races, my curiosity just want let me. I might turn off a race or two, but I guarantee you, I will at least start watching.

I like your idea. Sounds like it might be alot more interesting than the current format.

I will make a suggestion to the Chase format, it is an idea that has been talked about not only among the fans but the drivers.

Giving the drivers of the Chase their own point system. This way the worst a driver could finish in the points would be a 12th place finish, instead of a possible 43rd.

This certainly would keep more of the 12 drivers in the championship hunt and very possible make the chase alot more interesting not only for the fans but the teams and drivers.

  2. TSFAN,

GOOD IDEA, THE THING THAT REALLY BOTHERS ME MORE THEN ANYTHING ELSE IS THAT YOU HAVE 31 OTHER PEOPLE OUT THERE THAT ARE INFLUENCING THE OUTCOME.

  3. TSFAN,

JUST FINISHED GOING BACK THRU THE FIRST 5 RACES AND CUTTING DRIVERS AS IF THEY WERE USING MY SUGGESTION, IT IS GETTING INTERESTING QUICK. HERE IS HOW IT WOULD LOOK GOING INTO MARTINSVILLE.

    12. KASEY KAHNE
    11. CARL EDWARDS
    10. DENNY HAMLIN
    9. BRIAN VICKERS
    8. GREG BIFFLE
    7. JUAN MONTOYA

THE DRIVERS WHO WOULD STILL BE IN THE HUNT FOR THE CHAMPIONSHIP:

    MARTIN
    JOHNSON
    BUSCH
    NEWMAN
    STEWART
    GORDON

  4. Hey you are right on target with five of the six. Newman being the lone man out.

Going to be interesting to see who is last man standing. Especially if it is Jimmie Johnson.
