HOT OR NOT - COKE ZERO 400

GREETINGS FROM SW OKLAHOMA:

WOW, THEY SAY THAT IT IS BETTER TO BE LATE THEN NOT AT ALL, SO I HOPE YOU WILL EXCUSE ME FOR BEING LATE. THINGS OVER THE HOLIDAY WERE A LITTLE STIRRED AROUND SO AM RUNNING BEHIND. REALLY GOOD RACE LAST WEEKEND, AND TALK ABOUT A SURPRISE ENDING, I DON'T THINK UNCLE REMUS COULD HAVE COME UP WITH A BETTER ONE. HERE IS HOW I SAW THE RACE, WITH THE ENDING WE HAD I KNOW IT LOOKS A LITTLE DISJOINTED AND MAYBE EVEN A LITTLE OUT OF LINE.

NOT:

1. #16&#29 CREWCHIEFS: 2 TIRE CHANGE ON THE FIRST PIT STOP GOT THE LEAD FOR A SHORT WHILE , BUT THEN THEY LOST THIER BUTTS ABOUT AS FAST. HARVICK WENT FROM FIRST TO 13TH AND BIFFLE FROM 2ND TO 28TH IN JUST A MATTER OF A SHORT TIME. THIS WAS A BAD CHOICE AND I FIGURED THAT WAS THE END OF THE BOYS FOR THE NIGHT. OF COURSE KEVIN SURPRISED ALL OF US AND HIS ENDING WAS JUST A LITTLE BRIGHTER THEN BIFFLE'S.

2. JUAN MONTOYA: POOR CHOICE IN TIME TO FIGHT OVER 2" OF RACE TRACK. JUAN COULD HAVE BACKED OUT FOR A 1/10 OF A SECOND AND LET KYLE SLIDE BY. KYLE WAS LEADING THE RACE AND IF I AM NOT MISTAKEN JUAN WAS A LAP DOWN.

3. KYLE BUSCH: KYLE EVEN IF YOU HAVE THE LEAD, YOU GOT TO KNOW WHO YOUR PASSING, YOU KNOW JUAN WON'T GIVE YOU AN INCH. JUST NOT GOOD JUDGEMENT AND NOW YOUR CAR IS RECYCLE MATERIAL FOR THE THIRD WEEK IN A ROW.

4. DAVID REGAN: DAVID JUST HAD A HORRID WEEK START TO FINISH, WRECKED EALY IN THE WEEK THEN WRECKED HIMSELF DURING THE RACE AND TOOK OUT McMURRAY AND TRUEX TO BOOT, I THINK THAT MIGHT BE CALLED JUST ADDDING SALT TO THE WOUND.

5. NEMECHECK- PAPIS-BLANEY: BETWEEN THE 3 OF THEM THEY RAN LESS THE 1/3 OF THE RACE, AND WALKED AWAY WITH A WHEELBARREL FULL OF MONEY. NASCAR HAS GOT TO PUT A STOP TO THIS CRAP. BONNIE AND CLYDE DIDN'T STEAL AS MUCH MONEY AS THESE GUYS AND I FEEL THAT THE TIME HAS COME TO INSTITUTE A MINIMUN LAP REQUIREMENT BEFORE YOU CAN COLLECT FROM THE PURSE. THIS WOULD OF COURSE NOT INVOLVE DRIVERS OR CARS THAT ARE INVOLVED IN WRECKS CRASHES AND THINGS LIKE THIS, BUT I AM GUESSING THAT IT TOOK LESS THEN 2500.00 TO REPAIR ALL THREE CARS AND THEY TOOK HOME ABOUT 90,000.00 BETWEEN THE THREE.

HOT:

3. JEFF GORDON: JEFF RAN A GOOD RACE, STAYED CLEAN AND USED HIS HEAD TO STAY CLOSE, BUT OUT OF THE MIX, ALL IN ALL STILL RUNNING AND THINKING LIKE A CHAMP.

2. KASEY KAHNE: KASEY STARTED IN THE 20TH SLOT AND MORE OR LESS HID OUT ALL NIGHT AND STAYED OUT OF TROUBLE, HE MUST HAVE PLAYED A LOT OF DODGE BALL IN SCHOOL CAUSE HE CERTAINLY HAS THE KNACK OF BOB AND WEAVE
DOWN PAT TO STAY OUT OF TROUBLE AND NOT GET RUN OVER.

1. KEVIN HARVICK: AFTER A REAL MESS UP ON THE FIRST PIT STOP I THOUGHT KEVIN WAS THRU FOR THE NIGHT, BUT HE WORKED HARD AND SMART AND WITH THE HELP OF A GREAT ORGANIZATION HE PULLED OFF THE WIN. CONGRATES TO KEVIN AND THE WHOLE RCR ORGANIZATION, EXCELLENT EXAMPLE OF WORKING TOGETHER.

LUCKY:

2. DALE EARNHARDT JR.: JR. WAS HAVING AT BEST A HALF-ASS MEDIAN RACE, BUT WITH MORE LUCK THEN HE DESERVED HE SURVIVED THE "BIG ONE" AND MANAGED TO GRAB A 4TH PLACE FINISH. THIS MOVED HIM IN TO THE TOP 12, NOW LET'S SEE IF HE CAN STAY THERE.

1. JEFF BURTON: JEFF RAN WELL, BUT I HAVE TO SAY HE WAS MORE LUCKY THEN ANYTHING ELSE THIS PAST WEEKEND. HE IS REALLY LUCKY HE DIDN'T GET WIPED OUT BY THE BIG ONE , THAT HE DIRECTLY OR INDIRECTLY CAUSED, AND LUCKY THAT KURT DIDN'T CLIMB OUT OF HIS CAR AND POKE HIM IN THE NOSE FOR RUNNING HIM OFF THE TRACK.

THAT IS HOW I SAW THE RACE, HOPE SOME OF YOU AGREE AND IF YOU DON'T YOU KNOW WHAT TO DO AT THE BOTTOM OF THE PAGE.

GOOD CALLS - BAD CALLS & I'M SORRYS

GREETINGS FROM SW OKLAHOMA:

OVER THE LAST COUPLE OF WEEKS WE HAVE SEEN TONS OF CALLS ON BOTH THE BALL DIAMONDS AND THE SOCCER PITCH, THAT HAVE RANGED FROM HMMMM TO TOTALLY WRONG, BUT RIGHT OR WRONG "INSTANT REPLAY" IS THE WORST THING THAT EVER HAPPENED TO SPORTS. AERIAL VIEWS GIVE US A TOTALLY DIFFERENT VIEW OF THE ACTION THEN WHAT ANY OFFICIAL ON THE FIELD HAS. NOW WHEN THEY FIGURE OUT A WAY TO PUT A CAMERA ON THE PERSON OF EACH UMPIRE IT MIGHT BE A DIFFERENT STORY, ALTHOUGH I REALLY DOUBT IT.

NOW DON'T GET ME WRONG, IF AN OFFICIAL MISSES A CALL & REALIZES IT, THEN HE IS FREE TO CHANGE THAT CALL AND ALL IS GOOD, THEN HE JUST GETS BOOED FROM THE OTHER SIDE. IT IS ONE OF THOSE DAMN IF YOU DO AND DAMN IF YOU DON'T THINGS. RAISE CANE ALL YOU WANT IF HE MISS CALL ON A RULE, BUT TO QUESTION WHAT HE SAW IS A WHOLE DIFFERENT KETTLE OF FISH. I'LL TELL YOU FROM FIRST HAND EXPERIENCE, IF YOU HAVE NEVER HAD THE BLUE SHIRT ON, KEEP YOUR MOUTH SHUT.

NOW TO HAVE OFFICIALS WATCHING REPLAYS FROM A DIFFERENT ANGLE OR ONES SHOT FROM ABOVE AND THEN THEM SAYING " I'M SORRY" IS EVEN WORSE.

I WOULD LIKE TO SHARE A STORY THAT I FEEL GIVES THE RIGHT ANSWER TO THE QUESTION: "DID YOU MISS THAT CALL?"

IN 1982 THE CITY OF LAWTON, OKLAHOMA WAS HOSTING THE PONY BASEBALL COLT ZONE TOURNAMENT, THE WINNER WOULD ADVANCE TO THE WORLD SERIS.
WE HAD TEAMS FROM ROME, GEORGIA, MIAMI, FLORIDA, THE NATIONAL TEAM FROM OLD MEXICO, BARTLESVILLE, OKLAHOMA, DALLAS TEXAS, AND LAWTON WAS THE HOST TEAM. IN THE SEMI FINAL GAME, LAWTON WAS PLAYING ROME GEORGIA, IT WAS THE BOTTOM OF THE 9TH INNING, THE BASES WERE LOADED, AND THERE WERE 2 OUTS, AND LAWTON WAS BEHIND BY ONE RUN.

RANDY WEBB HIT A SHARP GROUNDER TO THE SECOND BASEMAN, HE BOBBLED THE CATCH JUST A LITTLE THEN MADE THE THROW TO FIRST. THE FIRST BASE UMPIRE CALLED THE RUNNER OUT AND THAT ENDED THE GAME, IT ALSO PUT LAWTON OUT OF THE TOURNAMENT.

IT JUST SO HAPPENED THAT A PHOTOGRAPHER FROM THE LOCAL NEWSPAPER WAS STANDING RIGHT AT FIRST AND GOT A PICTURE OF THE ACTION. THE NEXT MORNING IN THE LOCAL PAPER IS A 4 COLOUM PICTURE , WHERE WE SEE THE RUNNER'S FOOT ON THE BAG, THE FIRST BASEMAN'S FOOT ON THE BAG AND THE BALL , IN FLIGHT, ABOUT 6" AWAY FROM THE FIELDER'S GLOVE.

I COULD NOT WAIT FOR THAT UMPIRE TO GET TO THE FIELD THAT NIGHT. WHEN HE ARRIVED I WALKED OVER TO HIS CAR AND SAID " HEY BUGGS, DID YA SEE THE PAPER TODAY?" HE SAID "YEP" THEN I ASK "DID YA SEE THE PICTURE?" AND HE SAID "YEP" THEN I ASK "WHAT DO YOU THINK?" HE STOOD THERE FOR JUST A SECOND THEN ASK" WHAT DOES IT SAY IN THE SCOREBOOK?" I REPLIED "IT SAYS HE WAS OUT." HE REPLIED "THERE YOU GO" THEN SMILED AND WALKED AWAY.

BUGGS BOYDEN HAD 20 YEARS EXPERIENCE AND WAS THE BEST UMPIRE I HAVE EVER WORKED WITH, AND I DIDN'T THINK THERE WAS ANYTHING HE COULD DO TO MAKE ME RESPECT HIM MORE, BUT WITH THAT SIMPLE REPLY, MY RESPECT DOUBLED FOR THE MAN, HE KNEW HE HAD MISSED THE CALL, BUT HE WAS NOT GOING TO BELITTLE THE WORK OF THOUSANDS OF UMPIRES IN AMERICA BY SAYING "OH, I MISSED THAT CALL AND I AM SO SORRY."

HOT OR NOT - LOUD AT LOUDEN

GREETINGS FROM SW OKLAHOMA:

WELL WELL, ANOTHER GREAT RACE WITH QUITE A BIT OF EXCITEMENT AND EVEN A FEW GREAT EXAMPLES OF GOOD, CLEAN, HARD RACING. OF COURSE WE DID HAVE A FEW EXAMPLES OF DUMMYNESS ALSO BUT I GUESS THAT IS TO BE EXPECTED. HERE IS HOW I SAW THE RACE AND I HOPE THAT YOU MORE OR LESS SAW IT THE SAME WAY.

NOT:

1. ROUSCH-FENWAY RACING: HOW DO THEY EXPECT ANY OF THEIR TEAMS OR DRIVERS ARE GONNA BE A WINNER IF THEY KEEP PLAYING MUSICAL CREW CHIEFS? I GUESS I COULD BE WRONG BUT I CAN'T BELIEVE THAT THE DRIVERS ARE OK WITH ALL THAT CRAP, BUT I GUESS THERE ISN'T MUCH THEY CAN DO ABOUT IT.

2. START & PARK THIEVES: 7 CARS OUT BEFORE HALF WAY IN THE RACE, AND I DON'T REMEMBER A WRECK. I REALIZE THEY ONLY DRIVE THE CARS, BUT I WOULD HATE TO SHOW MY FACE IN THE GARAGE, WITH WHAT THEY ARE PULLING. I HAVE TO FEEL THAT AT SOME POINT PRIDE HAS TO COME INTO PLAY, BUT I AM NOT SURE WHEN THAT IS GOING TO BE.

3. KASEY KAHNE: TALK ABOUT START AND STOP, OR MAYBE I SHOULD JUST CALL IT UP & DOWN. THIS KID REALLY DESERVES BETTER THEN WHAT HE IS GETTING. IT'S KIND OF LIKE BUILDING UP A LITTLE KID'S HOPES THEN DASHING THEM RIGHT AT THE HIGHEST POINT. I KNOW KASEY HAS TO BE SO WISHING FOR THIS SEASON TO BE OVER WITH.

4. REED SORENSEN: DON'T THINK THERE WAS ANY CALL FOR THE PAYBACK, EVEN THOUGH IT TICKLED ME TO SEE JUAN SPINNING LIKE A TOP. REED NEEDS TO PRACTICE STAYING ON THE LEAD LAP THEN WORK ON THE PAYBACK THING.

5. CARL EDWARDS: THE DUCK CAN'T GET NO LUCK THIS SEASON, I DON'T KNOW IF IT IS THE DRIVER, THE TEAM, OR THE ORGANIZATION, BUT SOMETHING IS REALLY WRONG IN THAT CAMP AND UNTIL IT WORKS THRU, CARL IS JUST GONNA LOOK LIKE A COOKED GOOSE RATHER THEN A MIGHT DUCK.

HOT:

5. KEVIN HARVICK: KEVIN IS STILL MAKING PEOPLE SCRATCH THEIR HEADS ABOUT HOW HE IS STAYING IN THE LEAD, BUT I HAVE FIGURED IT OUT. HE HAS BEEN TAKING LESSONS FROM MARK MARTIN, AND THE TORTISE, FROM TORTISE AND THE HARE , SLOW AND STEADY IS THE KEY TO CONTINUED SUCCESS.

4. JEFF GORDON: JEFF MAY HAVE BEEN TAKING THE SAME LESSONS. I THINK HE HAS DECIDED THAT SOMETIMES PUSHING, PUSHING, PUSHING ISN'T THE BEST ANSWER. SOMETIMES TAKING WHAT YOU CAN GET WITH NO HASSLE IS THE BEST ANSWER AND HE SEEMS COMFORTABLE WITH THAT.

3. KURT BUSCH: I DO BELIEVE THAT THE ADDITION OF STEVE ADDINGTON TO THE 2 CAR'S CREW HAS BROUGHT MORE THEN ANYONE EXPECTED. I DO THINK IT HAS ADDED TO KURT'S GROWTH BOTH AS A MAN AND AS A DRIVER. KURT DROVE A GREAT REACE AND PUT ON A GREAT CLASS ON THE PROPER METHOD OF BUMP AND RUN. I STILL THINK KURT WILL BE ONE TO RECKON WITH BEFORE IT IS ALL OVER.

2. TONY STEWART: TONY SEEMED TO HAVE MORE LITTLE PROBLEMS YESTERDAY THEN CUSTER HAD INDIANS, BUT WHEN THE SMOKE CLEARED, TONY WAS SITTING PRETTY. TONY'S CREW IS MOST LIKELY THE SECOND BEST "FIX UP AND CATCH UP" CREW GOING RIGHT NOW, AND THAT FACT IS GONNA PAY BENNIES BEFORE THE SEASON IS OVER.

1. JIMMIE JOHNSON: THERE IS AN OLD SONG ABOUT DALE EARNHARDT, WHERE IT TALKS ABOUT HIM GETTING SENT TO THE BACK OF THE PACK FOR A ROUGH DRIVING CALL, HIS ANSWER IS " WE ARE DOWN, BUT WE'RE COMING BACK" THIS BEST DESCRIBES THE 48 TESM RIGHT NOW, JIMMIE AND MATES ARE THE PERFECT EXAMPLE OF THE "NEVER SAY DIE" ATTITUDE. I DIDN'T THINK THERE WAS MUCH CHANCE OF A FIVE'ER, BUT NOW I AM STARTING TO CHANGE MY MIND.

A TIP OF MY HAT HAS TO GO OUT TO RYAN NEWMAN, CLINT BOWYER AND DALE JR. THE LAST 10 LAPS OF THE RACE BETWEEN THESE 3 WAS SOME OF THE BEST I HAVE SEEN IN A WHILE.

THIS IS HOW I SAW THE RACE AND I HOPE MOST OF YOU AGREE OR AT LEAST SEE WHERE I AM COMING FROM. IF NOT CHIME IN AND LET US KNOW.

HOT OR NOT - FUN IN THE IRISH HILLS

GREETINGS FROM SW OKLAHOMA:

WELL RUNNING A LITTLE LATE WITH THIS BUT STILL UP BY MONDAY NOON. I THOUGHT THE RACE WAS PRETTY COTTON PICKIN' GOOD, FOR ONE IN YANKEE LAND. I DID THINK THE TNT GUYS DID A MUCH BETTER JOB THIS PAST SUNDAY, BUT THEN I LOVE LISTENING TO KYLE PETTY, I JUST WISH THEY HAD DALE JARRETT TO GO WITH HIM. HERE IS HOW I SAW THE RACE, PLEASE FEEL FREE TO ADD WHATEVER I MISSED.

NOT

1. MARCUS AMBROSE: FOR SUCH A WHIZ-BANG ENDING TO LAST YEAR MARCUS IS SURE GETTING KILLED THIS SEASON. IT DOESN'T SEEM TO BE ANYTHING BIG JUST A TON OF LITTLE THINGS THAT KEEP FOULING HIM UP.

2. MAX PAPIS: THIS GUY IS SUCH A WASTE OF MONEY AND EQUIPMENT, HE BARELY GETS STARTED BEFOE HE HEADS FOR THE TRAILER. I REALIZE HE MAY NOT BE THE GUY MAKING THAT CALL, BUT HE IS THE ONE THAT THE PUBLIC SEES.

3. RED BULL RACING: GOOD GRIEF, IF YOU CAN'T OR WON'T RACE WITH EACH OTHER HOW IN THE WORLD ARE YOU GONNA RACE WITH THE REST OF THE GUYS. I UNDERSTAND THAT LAST WEEK RED BULL HAD A "COME TO JESUS" MEETING WITH THEIR F1 GUYS, SO MAYBE ONE WITH THE NASCAR GUYS IS DUE NOW.

4. A.J. ALMENDINGER: SON, YOU CAN'T EVEN KEEP YOUR CAR STRAIGHT ON THE TRACK AND YOUR TRYING TO BLOCK HORNISH, WHO IS GOING PAST YOU LIKE YOUR UP ON JACKS, I THINK IT IS TIME FOR YOU TO GET OUT OF NASCAR AND GO DO CROSS COUNTRY RACING IN THE PAINTED DESERT.

5. JAMIE McMURRY: JAMIE HAD A GREAT STARTING POSITION YESTERDAY, BUT LIKE MY FARMVILLE GAME, HE WAS JUST OUT OF SYNC, THE WHOLE DAY. JAMIE DIDN'T LOSE ANY POSITIONS IN THE STANDINGS SO I FIGURE ALL THAT GOT HURT WAS HIS FEELINGS AND THAT SHOULDN'T LAST TO LONG.

HOT

5. TONY STEWART: WELL, WE KNOW THAT IT IS THE MONTH OF JUNE, BUT THEN WE WOULD KNOW THAT EVEN WITHOUT THE HOT WEATHER OR A CALENDER, HOW? BECAUSE SMOKE IS PICKING UP THE PACE FOR HIS ANNUAL SUMMER RUN ON THE CHAMPIONSHIP. TONY STARTED TODAY ABOUT MIDPACK AND HAULED IT TO THE FRONT AND STAYED THERE PRETTY MUCH ALL DAY. THE BOYS BETTER GET READY TO START SEEING A BUNCH OF TONY'S REAR BUMPER IF THINGS GO AS THEY HAVE IN THE PAST.

4. JEFF GORDON: JEFF HAD ANOTHER OF WHAT I GUESS YOU COULD CALL A SO-SO DAY. HE STARTED 6th AND STAYED PRETTY MCUH CLOSE ALL DAY BUT LIKE SO MANY TIMES ALREADY THIS YEAR, HE WAS JUST 2 OR 3 SPOTS SHORT OF THE WIN.

3. KURT BUSCH: KURT STARTED ON THE POLE AND WAS NEVER TO FAR AWAY ALL DAY, I DON'T THINK HIS ABILITY HAS IMPROVED ANY BUT HIS ATTITUDE TOWARD OTHERS IS MAKING THE PEOPLE AROUND HIM LOOK UP TO HIM AND WANT TO DO BETTER FOR HIM, AND FOR ME THAT IS THE COOLEST PART OF THE WHOLE DEAL. I SO THINK BEFORE THIS IS OVER KURT IS GOING TO BE THE NUMBER 1 GUY AT THE END OF THE SEASON.

2. KASEY KAHNE: WELL, IT WASN'T A WIN BUT KASEY WORKED HARD FOR HIS GUYS, JUST AS THEY WORKED HARD FOR HIM. IT IS AN EXCELLENT EXAMPLE OF " DON'T WORRY ABOUT NEXT SEASON, GET IT FOR YOURSELVES TODAY".

1. DENNY HAMLIN: I'M REALLY GETTING TIRED OF WRITING NICE THINGS ABOUT THIS KID, BUT HE KEEPS DESERVING THEM SO I GUESS I WILL, DENNY GETS MORE IMPRESSIVE EVERY WEEK, AND NOT BECAUSE OF WINS OR TOP 5 FINISHES, BUT BECAUSE OF THE WAY HE ENCOURAGES AND PRAISES THE PEOPLE AROUND HIM. HIS ATTITUDE MAKES THE PEOPLE ATTEMPT THE IMPOSSIBLE JUST TO MAKE HIM LOOK GOOD.

LIKE I SAID THE RACE START TO FINISH WAS PRETTY GOOD, BUT THE BEST RACING DURING THE WHOLE DAY WAS THE LAST 10 LAPS FOR 7th PLACE, BETWEEN JR. AND JEFF BURTON. THAT WAS THE BEST EXAMPLE OF HARD, NOSE TO TAIL, CLEAN RACING I HAVE SEEN IN AWHILE. WHATEVER I MISSED PLEASE TAG IT AT THE BOTTOM IN THE COMMENT SECTION. TILL NEXT WEEK, SO LONG , BE SAFE, STAY FREE.

HOT OR NOT LONG DAY AT LONG POND

GREETINGS FROM SW OKLAHOMA:

THIS WOULD HAVE BEEN UP EARLIER BUT FOR SOME REASON BLOGGER WAS DOWN FOR 5 HOURS SO I JUST HAD TO WAIT. FOLKS, FOR SOME REASON I JUST COULD NOT GET INTO THE RACE YESTERDAY, PLUS DUE TO MY OWN STUBBORNNESS I MISSED THE END OF THE RACE, I HAD SAT A 6:00 TIME TO MEET ANN'S SISTER AND HUSBAND FOR DINNER, THEY WERE LATE GETTING THERE BECAUSE THEY WATCHED THE END OF THE RACE. TO MAKE A LONG STORY SHORT I HAVE NO CLUE EXACTLY WHAT WAS GOING ON DURING THE WHOLE RACE.

HAVING SAID ALL OF THAT I FEEL THAT MY BEST BET IS TO HAND OUT A LITTLE PRAISE AND LET IT GO AT THAT.

HOT:

5. KURT BUSCH: KURT SEEMED TO ME TO BE IN AND OUT ALL DAY, THIS MAY HAVE BEEN DUE TO HIS AND ADDINGTON'S CONCERN OVER THE FUEL SAVING THING, BUT IN THE END IT DIDN'T MATTER ALL THAT MUCH. BUT BETWEEN DODGING WRECKS AND STUFF LIKE THAT 6TH ISN'T A BAD DEAL AT ALL AND LET'S FACE IT HE IS STILL MOVING TO THE FRONT.

4. JIMMIE JOHNSON: JIMMIE JUST DIDN'T SEEM TO BEABLE TO GET IN GEAR SO HE USED THE OLD 1 CAR 2 CAR PASSING MODE TO WORK HIS WAY TO A GOOD FINISH. JIMMIE IS SORT OF LIKE A BAD PENNY, NO MATTER WHAT YOU DO WITH IT OR HIM, HE JUST KEEPS SHOWING UP AT THE END.

3. TONY STEWART: TONY MAY STILL NOT BE SITTING THE WOODS ON FIRE, BUT HE HAD A PRETTY GOOD CAMPFIRE GOING YESTERDAY. I FELT THAT HE PUT ON A EXCELLENT DEFENSIVE RACING CLASS YESTERDAY, SHOWING HOW TO FORCE OTHER CARS TO DRIVE HIS RACE RATHER THEN BEING ABLE TO DRIVE THEIR OWN. IF HARVICK DOESN'T TAKE OUT LAGANO, TONY HAS SECOND PLACE WRAPPED UP AND ON THE WAY TO THE HOUSE.

2. KYLE BUSCH: I JUST REALLY DON'T KNOW WHAT TO SAY ABOUT THIS KID, BUT HE JUST SHOWS A GROWING MATURITY EVER WEEK, LIKE HIM OR NOT YOU HAVE TO ADMIRE HIS " TAKE NO PRISONERS" ATTITUDE, HIS SINGLE VIEW OF RACING IS "WIN OR GO HOME" IS TOTALLY WHAT RACING IS ALL ABOUT. AND LET'S FACE IT NO ONE IN RACING TODAY IS GOING TO BEAT HIM ON A RESTART 9 TIMES OUT OF 10.

1. DENNY HAMLIN: ANTOHER SUPER RACE FOR HAMLIN, HIS "I WON'T QUIT, AND I WON'T LET DOWN" ATTITUDE HAS SEEMED TO EFFECT EVERYONE ON HIS TEAM. DENNY REALLY REMINDS ME OF THE "LITTLE ENGIN TAHT COULD": WITH ONE EXCEPTION, THE LITTLE ENGIN KEPT SAYING " I THINK I CAN , I THINK I CAN" AND DENNY SAYS "I KNOW I CAN I KNOW I CAN".

FOLKS I DIDN'T PUT HARVICK ON THEIS FOR 2 REASONS. FIRST I THINK HE TOOK LAGANO OUT ON PURPOSE, WHICH I KNOW IS DEBATABLE, BUT THAT IS MY VIEW AND SECOND BY BRINGING OUT THE CAUTION HE COST STEWART A SECOND PLACE FINISH AND BY FORCING THE GREEN WHITE CHECKER IT LEAD TO THE TEARING UP OF A WHOLE LOT OF CARS.

THIS IS HOW I SAW THE RAACE, OR MAYBE I SHOULD SAY DIDN'T SEE THE RACE, SO IF I MISSED SOMETHING LET US KNOW.

HOT OR NOT - THINGS STILL GO BETTER WITH COKE

GREETINGS FROM SW OKLAHOMA:

WELL I BET SOME OF YOU THOUGHT ME MISSING LAST WEEK WAS A SIGN OF THE DEATH OF HOT OR NOT, BUT NOT TRUE AT ALL, JUST HAD A TON OF THINGS GOING ON LIKE HOEING THEM WEEDS AND CLEANING SLIME OUT OF THE FISH TANKS, BUT THINGS ARE BACK ON SCHEDULE NOW AND WE ARE GOOD TO GO.

A SHORT NOTE BEFORE WE GET INTO THE RACE, WHEN TONY TAKES THE FLAG IN THE BURGER KING CAR IN JUNE I BELIEVE, ANN, MY WIFE, AND TSFAN WILL BE RIDING WITH HIM. THEY MADE THE HOOD SIGNING SPONSORED BY BK.COM.

I FELT WE ALL SAW A GOOD RACE THIS PAST WEEKEND, I MEAN SEEING JEFF BURTON LOSE HIS TEMPER WAS ENOUGH FOR ME TO HAVE ENJOYED THE RACE AND SEEING "THORN BUSCH" HOLD HIS TEMPER WAS WORTH ALMOST THE SAME AMOUNT.

NOT:

1. MONTOYA'S LUCK: I DON'T EVEN LIKE THIS GUY BUT HIS LUCK THIS SEASON HAS SUCKED BIG ROCKS. HE HAD A VERY GOOD CAR, THEN CUTS DOWN A TIRE AND THE REST OF THE RACE JUST GOES TO POT. I FIND MYSELF WISHING THAT HE COULD HAVE GOOD LUCK AT LEAST ONCE THIS SEASON.

2. #47 PIT MISTAKE: WITH THE TRACK AS HOT AND STICKY AS IT WAS AND THAT EARLY IN THE RACE, TAKING THE 2 TIRES WAS A TOTAL MISTAKE AND MARCUS PAID THE PRICE , LOSES A TIRE, WRECKS THE CAR, AND WAS SCRATCHING HIS HEAD WONDERING WHY DID WE DO THAT .

3. START AND PARKERS: MAYBE THIS SHOULD REALLY BE DIRECTED AT THE NASCAR BRASS, BUT FOR ABOUT 90% OF THE SEASON WE HAVE ONLY HAD 35 OR 36 REAL HONEST RACE CARS ON THE TRACK SO WHY THE HELL NOT DROP THE FIELD TO 36 OR SO AND HAVE THOSE GUYS EITHER PUT UP OR PACK UP. RIGHT NOW THEY ARE JUST STEALING MONEY FROM TEAMS THAT ARE REALLY OUT THERE MAKING A RUN AT THINGS.

4. JIMMIE JOHNSON: ANOTHER D&F FOR THE #48, MAKES YOU WONDER IF MAYBE THE PRESSURE IS STARTING TO CAUSE THE TITANIC OF NASCAR TO DEVELOP A FEW CRACKS.

5. DALE EARNHARDT JR.: I'M NOT SURE WHAT THE DEAL IS , BUT AS MUCH AS I AM A FAN OF DALE JR., I AM BEGINNING TO THINK MAYBE IT IS TIME FOR JR. TO FOLLOW MICHAEL WALTRIP INTO THE OWNERSHIP END OF NASCAR AND FORGET ABOUT THE DRIVING PART OF IT.

HOT:

5. DAVID REUTIMAN: DAVID STARTED 5TH THIS PAST WEEKEND AND DROVE LIKE A BAT OUT OF HELL ALL NIGHT LONG. DAVID MAY WELL END UP BEING THE DARK HORSE IN THE CHASE THIS SEASON. LOOK FOR DAVID TO PUSH AND SHOVE HIS WAY TO THE TOP USING WHATEVER TOOLS HE NEEDS TO GET THERE.

4. MARK MARTIN: MARK IS SUCH AN AMAZING MAN, HE MAKES DRIVING 180 MILES AN HOUR LOOK LIKE A HOLIDAY DRIVE THROUGH ELMER THOMAS PARK, MARK STARTED 11TH AND TOOLED ALONG FOR 600 MILES AND FINISHED 4TH, MOVING HIM UP 1 PLACE IN THE CHASE LINEUP.

3. KYLE BUSCH: KYLE DROVE A REALLY GREAT RACE, OVERCAME SOME PRETTY BIG PROBLEMS, TOOK A SEVERE TONGUE LASHING AFTER THE RACE FROM JEFF BURTON AND DIDN'T LOSE HIS TEMPER. ME THINKS THE BOY IS GROWING UP.

2. JAMIE McMURRAY: JAMIE WAS THE MIRCLE BOY OF THE NIGHT HE STARTED 27TH AND FINISHED 2ND, HE DROVE THE WHEELS OFF THE CAR AND TURNED IN A SUPER RACE. WITH THE WAY HE DROVE THAT RACE IT WOULD HAVE BEEN REALLY COOL IF HE COULD HAVE GOTTEN JUST A LITTLE BETTER JUMP ON THAT LAST RESTART AND WON THE RACE. WONDER IF HAVING CHIPPIE ON THE PIT BOX DISTRACTED HIM JUST ENOUGH TO GIVE KURT THE WIN.

1. KURT BUSCH: I DON'T KNOW ABOUT KURT, IT TOOK HIM 600 MILES TO ADVANCE HIS POSITION 1 SLOT, WHAT KIND OF DEAL IS THAT. ONLY KIDDING, KURT LEAD THE MOST LAPS AND TURNED IN A SUPER DUPER RACE, BETWEEN HIM AND STEVE ADDINGTON, WE MAYBE FIXING TO SEE MR. PENSKE BACK IN THE CHAMPIONSHIP CIRCLE.

WELL FOLKS THAT IS HOW I SAW THE RACE, IF I LEFT OUT OR MISSED ANYTHING LET US KNOW.

THAT'S MY OPINION - WHAT'S YOURS

HOT OR NOT - THIS LADY IN BLACK AIN'T NOBODY'S DARLIN'

GREETING FROM SW OKLAHOMA:

WELL FOLKS THERE SHOULD HAVE BEEN ENOUGH WRECKS AND BANGED UP CARS FOR EVERYONE LAST NIGHT. OF COURSE SOME OF US ENDED UP MORE BANGED UP THEN OTHERS. IT APPEARS THAT THE "DUCK WARS" MUST CONTINUE ANOTHER WEEK, KATIE'S VOODOO DUCK SEEMED TO DO ALL OF HER WORK BEFORE THE RACE EVEN STARTED, CAUSING CARL TO HAVE A HORRIBLE QUAL. TIME AND END UP IN THE REAR OF THE PACK BUT THEN PHIDEAUX STEPPED IN AND STARTED TO WORK HIS OWN KIND OF MAGIC. HIS PROTECTION ENABLED CARL TO SALVAGE A 15TH PLACE FINISH AND HOLD HIS POSITION IN THE CHASE. NOT A BAD NIGHTS WORK FOR A GUY WHO STARTED 41st. MAYBE NOT AS GOOD A MAGIC AS "THORN" BUSCH HAD MOVING FROM 43rd TO 7th , BUT STILL HE WAS ABLE TO FIGHT OFF THE VOODOO DUCK. BUT TO BE HONEST I HAVE TO CALL THE FIRST ROUND NO BETTER THEN A DRAW. AND THIS IS HOW I SAW THE REST OF THE RACE.

NOT:

4. RCR MAINTENANCE CREWS: FOR EITHER THE 2nd OR 3rd TIME THIS SEASON WE HAVE SEEN A RCR CAR WHICH WAS MAKING A GOOD RUN, SUDDENLY GO DOWN AND LOSE SEVERAL LAPS OR END UP OUT OF THE RACE DUE TO BRAKE PROBLEMS, TONIGHT IT WAS CLINT BOWYER AND A COUPLE OF WEEKS AGO KEVIN HARVICK, COME ON GUYS THESE DRIVERS ARE ALREADY WORKING AGAINST 43 OTHER DRIVERS THEY DON'T NEED YOU WORKING AGAINST THEM ALSO.

3. RICHARD PETTY MOTORSPORTS: THIS OPERATION CAN'T EVEN HOLD ON TO GOOD DRIVERS AND ACCORDING TO ALLMENDINGER, THEY DON'T KNOW HOW TO WORK ON THE BRAKING SYSTEM OF THE CARS EITHER. ACCORDING TO HIM THIS IS THE 3rd OR 4TH WEEK THAT HE HAS HAD TO BABY THE BRAKES DURING AN ENTIRE RACE. RICHARD SPARE YOURSELF ANYMORE EMBRASSMENT AND GET YORU NAME OFF THAT RACE TEAM. WE WOULD LIKE TO REMEMBER YOU FOR WHAT YOU DID NOT FOR WHAT A RACE TEAM WITH YOUR NAME ON IT DIDN'T DO.

2. TONY STEWART: THESE LAST 3 WEEKS HAVE BEEN A NIGHTMARE FOR TONY. IT LOOKS LIKE RIGHT NOW HE COULDN'T GET A GOOD FINISH IF HE WAS THE ONLY DRIVER IN THE RACE. I KNOW HE IS SO WISHING FOR HIS MIDDLE OF THE SEASON SURGE, AND IF IT DON'T GET HERE PRETTY QUICK WE MAY SEE A MISSING CAR IN THE CHASE THIS YEAR.

1. BOBBY LABONTE: I REALLY LIKE THIS TEXAS BOY, BUT THE LAST 3 OR 4 WEEKS HE HAS LOOKED LIKE EVERYTHING EXCEPT THE 2000 NASCAR CHAMPION. HATE TO SAY THIS BUT MAYBE IT IS TIME FOR BOBBY TO FOLLOW HIS BROTHER INTO RETIREMENT. THE TRUTH IS I THINK MAYBE HE HAS ALREADY DRIFTED INTO THE "HAS BEEN" BRACKET.

HOT:

5. JUAN MONTOYA: JUAN CONTINUES TO BE RIGHT IN THE FRAY AND HE KEEPS INCHING UP THE LADDER OF THE STANDINGS, BUT HE JUST CAN'T CLOSE THE DEAL. I FIND MYSELF WISHING HE WOULD WIN A RACE SO THE GUYS FROM FOX WOULD BACK OFF ABOUT HOW BAD HE NEEDS TO WIN A RACE.

4. JEFF GORDON: HOW IN THE WORLD DO YOU KEEP COMING UP SHORT AND STILL MOVE UP IN THE STANDINGS, JEFF JUST KEEPS COMING UP JUST A TINY BIT SHORT BUT IS STILL MOVING ONWARD AND UPWARD. I'M NOT QUITE SURE HOW MUCH LONGER HE CAN KEEP TAKING THE BLAME FOR NOT CLOSING THE DEAL, CAUSE SOONER OR LATER IT'S GONNA HAVE TO BE SOMEONE ELSE'S FAULT.

3. KURT BUSCH: I DO BELIEVE THAT LAST NIGHT KURT MAY HAVE GIVEN US THE VERY BEST EXAMPLE OF COMBINING LUCK, GOOD DRIVING, AND BEING IN THE RIGHT PLACE AT THE RIGHT TIME THAT WE WILL SEE ALL SEASON LONG. KURT HAD A LITTLE LUCK, MADE A LITTLE LUCK WITH HIS DRIVING, AND SEEMED TO BE JUST IN THE RIGHT SPOT ALL NIGHT LONG. BUT NO MATTER WHAT YOU USE TO GET IT A TOP 5 IS AWAYS A GOOD THING.

2. JAMIE McMURRAY: WELL FOR SURE JAMIE CAN'T USE THE SONG "I AIN'T GOT NO HOME" FOR HIS THEME MUSIC. SINCE HIS MOVE FROM ROUSH THIS CAT HAS COME TO LIFE, HE SITS IN 16th RIGHT NOW, BUT IF HE CONTINUES TO MOVE UP 3 SLOTS EVERY WEKK IT WON'T BE LONG TILL HE IS SITTING IN THE TOP 5 REAL SOON.

1. DENNY HAMLIN: THIS BOY IS ON A MISSION AND I DO BELIEVE THAT AS HE CONTINUES ON THAT MISSION HE IS GOING TO END UP IN THE CAT BIRD'S SEAT AND BEABLE TO SAY "MISSION ACCOMPLISHED". THE FACT THAT HE IS DOING SO WELL WITH THE BUMMED UP KNEE IS JUST BEYOND GREAT. DENNY DID A SUPER JOB AND WE MIGHT AS WELL GET USED TO SEEING THAT SAME GOOD JOB WEEK IN AND WEEK OUT FOR THE REST OF THE SEASON.

A TIP OF THE HAT HAS TO GO TO "THORN" BUSCH FOR HIS EXCELLENT SHOWING, FOR A FEW MINUTES I REALLY THOUGHT HE WAS GONNA STEAL ANOTHER ONE AND THE CHARLIE BROWN " GOOD GRIEF AWARD" HAS TO GO TO JEFF BURTON. THIS IS HOW I SAW THE RACE, CHIME IN WITH WHAT I MISSED.

HOT OR NOT - RICHMOND - TRIBUTE TO AN AMERICIAN HERO

GREETINGS FROM SW OKLAHOMA:

THANKS TO THE SPONSORS AND NASCAR FOR NAMING THIS RACE FOR THE YOUNG MAN WHO GAVE SO MUCH FOR HIS COUNTRY, DON'T SEEM TO SEE A LOT OF THAT ANYMORE. I THOUGHT ALL OF US SAW A PRETTY GOOD RACE, I DON'T THINK ANYONE CAN SAY WE DIDN'T HAVE A BIG TRUN AROUND OR SURPRISE AT THE END, BUT THAT IS WHAT MAKES RACING WHAT IT IS.

BEFORE WE GET TO HOW I SAW THE RACE, DID ANYONE ELSE HAPPEN TO SEE OR READ THE ARTICLE THIS WEEK ON JR. SUPPOSEDLY BREAKING UP THE MARRIAGE OF A COLLEGE COACH DOWN THERE. JUST WONDERING IF WE ARE FIXING TO HAVE OUR OWN VERSION OF TIGER WOODS. BUT IF NASCAR IS MAKING NATIONAL ENQUIRER THEY MUST BE DOING SOMETHING RIGHT. NOW ON TO HOW I SAW THE RACE.

NOT:

1. JIMMIE JOHNSON: FINISHING 10th IS NOTHING TO FEEL BAD ABOUT, GUESS I HAVE JUST GOTTEN SO USE TO HIM WINNING OR BEING SECOND IT LOOKED STRANGE. BUT FOR SOME REASON THE WHOLE TEAM SEEMED TO BE JUST A LITTLE, HOW DOES FARMVILLE PUT IT, OUT OF SNYC LAST NIGHT. JUST WONDER IF THE BOSS VERBALLY PADDLING HIS BOTTOM PUT JIMMIE AND THE WHOLE TEAM INTO A BIT OF A POUTY MOOD.

2. START & PARK CARS: I AM GETTING SO TIRED OF DAVE BLANEY AND FRONT ROW JOE GOING OUT, RUNNING 10 OR 12 LAPS, THEN GOING TO THE PAY WINDOW AND COLLECTING MORE MONEY THEN SOME FOLKS MAKE IN A YEAR. I UNDERSTAND THAT THEY WANT TO RACE AND THEY HAVE THE RIGHT TO RACE, BUT I THINK IT IS TIME FOR NASCAR TO PUT A MIN. NUMBER OF LAPS TO BE RUN BEFORE YOU COLLECT ANY MONEY.

3. #39 CREW CHIEF: 2 TIRE STOP, THAT WAS THE WORST CALL I HAVE SEEN IN AWHILE, YES IT GOT RYAN THE LEAD, WELL AT LEAST THE LEAD TO THE GREEN FLAG AND THAT IS JUST PRETTY MUCH WHERE IT ENDED. RYAN SPENT THE WHOLE REST OF THE NIGHT LOOKING SHEEPISH AND TRYING TO CATCH UP.

4. DALE EARNHARDT JR.: WELL WE HAVE ALL HEARD OF LITTLE THINGS ADDING UP TO SOMETHING GOOD, BUT THIS WAS NOT THE CASE FOR JR. ALL NIGHT LONG. ALL OF HIS LITTLE THINGS THIS WEEK WERE BAD AND MAYBE THE FIRST LITTLE BAD THING WAS UNLOADING THE CAR IN RICHMOND.

5. TONY STEWART: TONY JUST LIKE JR. HAD A LOUSY WEEKEND , DIDN'T SEEM TO BE ABLE TO DO ANY OF THE RIGHT THINGS, SEEMED THAT NONE OF THE PROBLEMS WERE REALLY BIG, JUST LITTLE THINGS KEPT PILING ON TOP OF EACH OTHER AND IT MADE FOR A HORRID WEEKEND.

HOT:

5. CARL EDWARDS: I'M NOT SURE WE CAN SAY CARL IS HOT JUST YET, BUT THE RACE HE TURNED IN LAST NIGHT WILL SURE FAN THE FLAMES. I'M THINKING THIS WAS THE TURN UP THE HEAT RACE FOR CARL.

4. JEFF BURTON: JEFF JUST KEEPS COMING, I REALLY LIKE HIS ATTITUDE ABOUT THE ALL-STAR RACE AND WANTING TO RACE HIS WAY IN, NOT JUST GET VOTED IN, JEFF IS AN OL' TIME RACER THAT DOESN'T WANT ANYTHING GIVEN TO HIM.

3. KEVIN HARVICK: WOW, THIS CAT IS TURNING IT AROUND BIG TIME, I MEAN HE HAS TO BE, HE EVEN HAS UNNAMED SOURCES PUTTING OUT STORIES AND REPORTS ON HIM NOW. ISN'T THAT WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU ARE DOING SOMETHING RIGHT?

2. JEFF GORDON: JEFF RAN ANOTHER GREAT RACE AND FROM ALL APPEARANCES HAD IT IN THE BAG, BUT AN EVER SO SLIGHT "CHOKE" ON THE LAST RESTART PROVED TO BE HIS UNDOING. BUT AS IT SHOULD BE THE VETERAN OF HENDRICK WAS THE LEADER OF THE ORGANIZATION LAST NIGHT.

1. KYLE "THORN" BUSCH: GOOD GRIEF, I WISH HE WOULD QUIT DOING THINGS LIKE THIS, IT MAKES IT SO HARD TO NOT LIKE HIM. HE LEADS THE FIRST HALF OF THE RACE, THEN DROPS TO NOWHERE, THEN CHARGES BACK TO WIN ON THE LAST LAP. THAT SORT OF SOUNDS LIKE SOME OLD STORIES I HAVE HEARD ABOUT "BIG E". EXCELLENT RACE "THORN" YOU DESERVED THE WIN.

WELL FOLKS THAT IS HOW I SAW THE RACE, AND I REALLY DID TRY TO BE FAIR AND GIVE CREDIT WHERE CREDIT IS DUE, BUT IF I MISSED ANYTHING CHIME IN AND LET US KNOW. ALL OF US ARE STILL LEARNING AND WE ALL LOOK AT DIFFERNET THINGS ON THE SCREEN, PUT IT OUT HERE SO WE ALL GET THE WHOLE PICTURE.

HOT OR NOT - TALLADEGA, THE TRACK THAT SPLIT A TEAM

GREETINGS FROM SW OKLAHOMA:

FOLKS TODAY WE SAW A BETTER THEN GREAT RACE, IT WAS WELL RUN, HAD AN EXCITING ENDING, AND A VERY WELL DESERVING WINNER.. BUT MORE IMPORTANT WE MAY WELL HAVE SEEN WATCHING AS THE MINUTE SPLIT AT HENDRICKS MOTORSPORT RIPPED TOTALLY WIDE OPEN. I THOUGHT JEFF HANDLED THE WHOLE THING VERY VERY WELL, HAD IT BEEN ME, I AM AFRAID I WOULD HAVE LOOKED UP THE 48 CAR AND SHOVED HIM PLUM INTO THE PORTA POTTYS. I REALLY DON'T SEE HOW YESTERDAYS ANTICS CAN KEEP FROM SPLITTING EVERYONE AT HENDICKS INTO ONE OF TWO CAMPS, THIS IS NOT GOOD FOR THE HENDRICKS CAMP BUT MAY WELL BE A GOD SENT TO THE REST OF NASCAR. ANYWAY ON TO THE RACE AND HOW I SAW IT.

NOT:

1. THE REAR WING: THIS IS SORT OF A THROWBACK, BUT AFTER WATCHING HAMLIN SPIN ALL OVER THE TRACK, AND SEEING THE CAR STAY ON THE GROUND AND THE FLAPS WORK JUST LIKE THEY WERE DESIGNED TO DO, I HAVE TO SAY SHAME SHAME ON THE WING AND THE DUMMIE WHO CAME UP WITH THE IDEA TO EVERY PUT IT ON THE RACE CAR.

2. JOHNNY SAUTER: FIRST CAR OOUT OF THE RACE, JUST REALLY A CASE OF BEING TO SLOW AND IN THE WRONG SPOT, AND OF COURSE THE WRONG SPOT IS ANYWHERE AROUND OR NEAR "THORN" BUSCH.

3. KYLE (THORN) BUSCH: TO PARAPHRASE MIKEY WALTRIP, WHEN A DRIVER PRAPORTS TO HAV ESUCH HIGH STANDARDS AND BE SUCH A GREAT DRIVER, RUNS UP THE BUTT OF A CAR WHO HE HAS HAD TO SEE FOR A 1/4 MILE, IT IS CLEAR THAT HIS STANDARDS AIN'TT AHT HIGH AND MAYBE HE AIN'T THAT GOOD A DRIVER EITHER.

4. JIMMIE JOHNSON: JOHNSON CAN SAY THERE ARE NO HARD FEELINGS AND ALL THAT OTHER CRAP, BUT HIS ACTIONS SCREAM MUCH LOUDER THAT THERE IS A BIG PROBLEM, AND THAT PROBLEM MAY WELL HAVE DESTROYED THE BEST RACING ORGANIZATION IN NASCAR TODAY. THE WAY HE CAME HALF WAY DOWN THE TRACK AND FORCED JEFF OUT OF BOUNDS AND TO THE REAR, HE COULDN'T HAVE BEEN MORE TO BLAME IF HE HAD WRECKED GORDON HIMSELF.

5. JOEY LAGANO: JOEY WAS HAVING A GOOD RACE BUT A ROOKIE MISTAKE CAUSED A GOOD RACE TO TURN INTO A VERY BAD RACE FOR SEVERAL DRIVERS. MAKE BUMING CONTACT BEFORE OR AFTER ENTERING A TURN NOT 3/4'S OF THE WAY OUT.

HOT:

5. MARK MARTIN: WHAT CAN I SAY OTHER THEN "OLD AGE AND CUNNING WILL ALWAYS OVER COME YOUTH AND SKILL" MARK IS THE DRIVER EVERYONE WANTS TO THINK THEY WILL BE 15 YEARS DOWN THE ROAD. SADLY I THINK MOST WILL NEVER MAKE THE GRADE.

4. DENNY HAMLIN: DENNY STARTED THE RACE IN 11th AND EALY ON LOST IT AND DANCED AND SPUN ALL OVER THE TRACK AND STILL FINISHED THE DAY 4th. HE REALLY SEEMS TO BE RUNNING BETTER WITHT THE BUMBED UP KNEE THEN HE WAS BEFORE. I DIDN'T AGREE WITH HIM STAYING IN THE CAR 2 WEEKS AGO, BUT I HAVE TO ADMIT IN DOING SO HE PRESENTED HIS TEAM AN EXAMPLE AND A CHALLENGE AND THEY ARE FOLLOWING THE EXAMPLE AND EXCEPTING THE CHALLENGE.

3. JUAN MONTOYA: JUAN JUST KEEPS COMING UP A LITTLE BIT SHORT, BUT HE WOULD HAVE MADE THE HOT LIST THIS WEEK ON THE GROUNDS OF ONE STATEMENT " I AIN'T COMING IN FOR FUEL, I'LL DRIVE IT OUT OF GAS FIRST". THAT IS SPUNK AND GRITS FROM OLDTIME DRIVING AND IT IS GOOD TO SEE FROM TIME TO TIME.

2. JAMIE MxMURRAY: SUPER RACE START TO FINISH, JAMIE STARTED 21st AND WORKED MAGIC ALL DAY LONG PRETTY MUCH GOING WHERE HE WANTED TO GO AND WHEN. IT ALSO APPEARS TAHT HE HAS BECOME " THE BEST FRIEND TO HAVE" AT THE SUPER SPEEDWAYS, ALONG WITH DALE JR. AND TONY STEWART.

1. KEVIN HARVICK: KEVIN MAY HAVE DRIVEN THE BEST RACE OF HIS CAREER TODAY, HE STARTED ON THE OUTSIDE OF THE SECOND ROW, SORT OF MOVED TO THE REAR AND THEN JUST SORT OF WORKED HERE AND THERE TO GET TO THE FRONT ARRIVING THERE AT JUST THE PERFECT TIME. THE VIDEO OF HIS FINAL MOVE ON JAMIE MAY BE USED FOR YEARS TO COME AS THE "THIS IS HOW YOU DO IT" TRAINING AID FOR NEW DRIVERS. I DO WONDER IF THE FOLKS AT SHELL WHEN "OOPS" AFTER THE RACE YESTERDAY, I SURE HOPE SO.

FOLK, LIKE I SAID WE WATCHED A GREAT RACE, BUT I FEAR WE ALSO WATCHED THE BREAKING UP OF THE TOP ORGANIZATION IN NASCAR BUT ONLY TIME WILL TELL. HOPE I GOT A FEW OF YOUR DRIVERS ON THE RIGHT SIDE TODAY, BUT IF I DIDN'T SHARE WITH ALL OF US HOW YOU SAW THE RACE.

HOT OR NOT - WET AND SOGGY IN TEXAS

GREETINGS FROM SW OKLAHOMA:

WELL I DON'T KNOW IF IT WAS THE WET SOGGY WEATHER HERE AND IN DALLAS, OR JUST THAT I WAS STARVED FOR RACING, BUT FOLKS I DIDN'T SEE A BUNCH OF GOOFS TODAY, AND SOME OF THE FEW I SAW TURNED INTO GOOD AFTER THE WRECK WITH 20 SOMETHING TO GO.

I HAVE LISTED ONLY 2 NOTS THIS WEEK AND REALLY I'M NOT SURE IT WASN'T JUST RACING GODS ACTING UP RATHER THEN THE DRIVERS FAULT OR MISTAKES ON THE PART OF THE TEAMS

NOT:

1. BRIAN VICKERS: BRIAN SEEMED TO HAVE PROBLEMS RIGHT OUT OF THE CHUTE TRYING TO KEEP THE CAR GOING IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION. I DON'T KNOW IF HE WAS TRYING TO GET TO MUCH TO SOON OR WHAT, BUT TO SAY THE LEAST THE RED BULL WAS NOT THE BULL TO BE RIDING TODAY. HE DID MOVE UP A FEW SPOTS FROM HIS STARTING POINT, BUT WHEN YOU START 43 WHERE ELSE IS THERE TO GO.

2. DAVID REUITMANN: DAVID STARTED OUT TODAY LIKE A HOUSE AFIRE AND WAS BURNING UP THE TRACK, THE NEXT THING HE KNEW THE MOTOR OF HIS CAR WAS TRYING TO BURN HIS CAR DOWN. NOW I AM NOT SAYING THAT DAVID DID ANYTHING WRONG, JUST SAYING THAT WAS WORSE THEN BAD LUCK AND DAVID NOR MWR NEED ANY OF THAT KIND.

HOT:

THE TOP FIVE DRIVERS: DENNY HAMLIN, JIMMIE JOHNSON, KYLE BUSCH, KURT BUSCH, AND KASEY KAHNE THESE GUYS ALL DESERVE PROPS FOR THEIR ABILITY AND ALSO BEING ABLE TO TURN A BAD DAY INTO SOMETHING VERY GOOD. DENNY SHOWED A TON OF BACKBONE WORKING THROUGH THE PAIN IN THE KNEE AND WENT TO WORK. THE OTHER 4 DID A PRETTY GOOD JOB OF PUTTING ON AN EXCELLENT DISPLAY OF DRIVER ABILITY AND COOL HEADNESS.

THE "BIG ONE" DRIVERS: FOR WHAT I SAW THIS WEEK THE "REAL HOT" HAS TO GO TO THE DRIVERS WHO WERE INVOLVED IN THE BIG WRECK. LEADING THE PACK WOULD HAVE TO BE TONY STEWART FOLLOWED CLOSELY BY JEFF GORDON. ANYONE OF THOSE DRIVERS COULD HAVE POINTED FINGERS AND STARTED RUNNING THEIR MOUTHS ABOUT THIS GUY OR THAT GUY WAS AT FAULT, AND THAT COULD HAVE STARTED WITH THE CONVERSATION BETWEEN TONY AND JEFF ON THE TRACK. BUT NO ONE AND I MEAN NO ONE POINTED A FINGER OR LAID BLAME UNTIL TONY STEWART. TONY TOOK THE ENTIRE BLAME AND STATED THAT HE WAS SORRY AND WOULD GO TO EACH TEAM AND TELL HOW SORRY HE WAS. TODAY I THINK I SAW NASCAR RACE DRIVERS AT THEIR FINEST.

IF I SAW THIS RACE WRONG, LET ME KNOW, BUT ANYWAY

HOT OR NOT - VALLEY OF THE SUN

GREETINGS FROM SW OKLAHOMA:

TALK ABOUT NOT BEING OVER TILL IT'S OVER, I'M GUESSING JEFF IS STILL SORT OF SCRATCHING HIS HEAD OVER THAT ONE. I THOUGHT IT WAS A GOOD RACE AND REALLY ENJOYED WATCHING GUYS LIKE MARK MARTIN WEAVE HIS MAGIC AND LULL FOLKS INTO THINKING HE WAS JUST PASSING TIME. I WAS SORRY FOR KURT AND KASEY. I FEEL THAT THAT WAS ONE OF THOSE THINGS THAT HAS TO BE DESCRIBED AS AN ACT OF THE "RACING GODS". ANYWAY THIS IS HOW I SAW THE RACE, AND WITH ANY LUCK I WON'T OFFEND TO MANY FOLKS.

NOT:

1. MARTIN TRUEX JR. : SON YOU GOTTA READ THE LIGHTS COMING TO PIT ROW, HITTING THERE WHEN THEY ARE CLOSED IS SUCH A ROOKIE MISTAKE AND WHEN YOUR SITTING 19TH HIT THE BRAKES A LITTLE NO NEED TO SPIN A GUY OUT, I THINK THAT IS CALLED DEFENSIVE DRIVING.

2. DENNY HAMLIN: IT HAS BEEN SAID THAT "PRIDE GOES BEFORE A FALL" AND TODAY DENNY HAD TO MUCH PRIDE TO USE HIS HEAD AND GET OUT OF THE CAR AND HE FELL LIKE A ROCK. HE WOULD HAVE BEEN BETTER OFF GETTING OUT AT THE FIRST CAUTION AND TURNING THE CAR OVER TO MEARS, MOST LIKELY WOULD NOT HAVE WON THE RACE BUT I DON'T FIGURE HE WOULD HAVE FAIRED TO MUCH WORSE THEN DENNY. I ALSO FAULT COACH GIBBS ON THIS ONE HE SHOULD HAVE STEPPED IN AND PULLED DENNY.

3. A.J. ALLMENDINGER: THIS LOOKED MORE LIKE HE WAS DRIVING A YOYO RATHER THEN A RACE CAR. FIRST SLOT (POLE) THEN TO 27TH THEN UP TO 15TH. I REALLY THINK THIS KID WOULD FINISH SECOND IN A ONE CAR RACE.

4. DAVE ROGERS: HISTORY CAN ONLY REPEAT ITSELF SO MANY TIMES AND TONIGHT WAS NOT ONE OF THEM. THORN'S NEW CREW CHIEF MADE A LARGE BAD GUESS TONIGHT AND THAT MAY SERVE AS THE STRAW THAT BROKE THE CAMEL'S BACK . IF THEY GET RID OF ADDINGTON WITH 8 OR 9 WINS WHAT ARE THEY GONNA DO WITH A GUY THAT MAKES THAT KIND OF BAD GUESS.

5. SCOTT SPEED: WEAR A TOGA, SHAVE YOUR HEAD, IT MAKES NO DIFFERENCE, YOU STILL NEED TO BE ANYWHERE EXCEPT IN NASCAR. DON'T KNOW IF THIS IS A RECORD OR NOT BUT YOU DID MANAGE TO LOSE ONE POSITION EVERY 19 LAPS DURING THE RACE.

HOT:

5. JUAN MONTOYA: JUAN RAN A REALLY GOOD RACE, BUT THEN HE CAME OUT ON THE SHORT END OF THE STICK AGAIN, I AM AFRAID HE IS GOING TO GET THE REP OF RUNNING WELL BUT NEVER ABLE TO CLOSE THE DEAL ON A NORMAL STOCK CAR TRACK. I WAS REAL PLEASED TO SEE THAT JUAN DID STAND STRAIGHT AND TALL DURING THE NATIONAL ATHEM, HE IS REALLY WORKING HIS BUTT OFF TO FIT IN.

4. MARK MARTIN: THE MORE I WATCH MARK , THE MORE HE REMINDS ME OF A TURTLE ( THIS IS A GOOD THING). HE TAKES THINGS SLOW AND EASY SORT OF JUST HO- HUMMS ALONG, BUT HIS SPEED AND ABILITY ARE SO DECEPTIVE AND HE USUALLY IS ALWAYS AHEAD OF THE BUNCH AT THE FINISH. MARK HAS A WAY OF COVERING HIS HARD CHARGING THAT IS JUST OUT OF THIS WORLD.

3. JIMMIE JOHNSON: JIMME "THE KID" RAN HIS NORMAL, RUN OF THE MILL, COME FROM BEHIND, OH THIS IS BORING RACE, FIGURING THIS WAS JUST ONE MORE WIN, BUT SOMETHING HAPPENED THAT HE NOR CHAD COULD COUNT ON OR CONTROL. THAT LAST CAUTION DID HIM IN, BUT FOLKS THIS BOY IS GONNA REWRITE A WAGON LOAD OF RECORD BOOKS BEFORE HE IS FINISHED SO LIKE IT OR NOT WE MIGHT AS WELL JUST GET READY FOR IT.

2. JEFF GORDON: EVEN THOUGH BY HIS OWN ADDMISSION HE GOT A LITTLE NERVOUS AND SPUN THE TIRES ON THE LAST RESTART, JEFF DROVE A HECK OF A RACE. I HAVE NOTICED THAT JEFF IS STARTING TO REACT IN A MUCH MORE MATURE MANNER AND SO I HAVE A FEELING MAYBE HE IS STARTING TO OBTAIN OR DEVELOP THAT ELDER DRIVER ATTITUDE. GOOD GRIEF I HATE SAYING NICE THINGS ABOUT HIM, BUT FACT IS FACT LIKE IT OR NOT.

1. RYAN NEWMAN: WHAT IS THAT OLD STATEMENT ABOUT "GOOD THINGS COMING TO THOSE WHO WAIT" WELL RYAN HAS WAITED FOR AWHILE AND TONIGHT HE SPENT MOST OF THE NIGHT WAITING, AND SURE ENOUGH GOOD THINGS CAME TO HIM. RYAN DROVE A GOOD CONSERVATIVE RACE AND IN THE END HE WAS JUSTLY REWARDED WITH A WIN. THIS SINGLE WIN MAY WELL SERVE AS THE SPRING BOARD FOR THIS TEAM TO JUMP RIGHT TO THE FRONT AGAIN AS WE HAVE SEEN IN THE PAST.

WELL FOLKS THAT IS HOW I SAW THE RACE AND I AM SURE THAT I MISSED A FEW THINGS BUT CAN ONLY SEE SO MUCH ON A 27 IN TV. WHATEVER I MISSED PLEASE FILL IN THE GAPS AND LETS MAKE SURE EVERYONE KNOWS THE GOOD, BAD AND THE UGLY ABOUT THE TRIP TO THE "VALLEY OF THE SUN".

HOT OR NOT - THE BRISTOL STOMP

GREETINGS FROM S.W. OKLAHOMA,
HAVING JUST SAT OUT ANOTHER LESS THEN NATURAL SNOW AND ICE STORM IN THE SOONER STATE I MUST ADMIT I WAS NOT AT MY BEST TODAY DURING THE RACE. THE FACT IS I MISSED ABOUT A 150 LAPS BECAUSE I FELL ASLEEP IN MY CHAIR. SO WHAT YOU ARE GETTING HERE IS MORE OR LESS A SHORT VERSION OF THE HOT OR NOT. I WILL SAY I AM SORRY RIGHT OFF THE BAT AND BEG EACH OF YOU TO FILL IN THE GAPS THAT I LEAVE IN THIS WEEKS BLOG.

NOT:

1. TIRE ISSUES: THIS SEEMS TO BE A REOCCURRING PROBLEM THIS SEASON, I DON'T KNOW IF IT IS THE TIRES THEMSELVES OR THE SETUPS ON THE CARS, BUT EVEN IF THE ENGINEERS FROM ALL THE MAJOR TEAMS NEED TO PUT THEIR HEADS TOGETHER WITH GOODYEAR, SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE TO SOLVE THIS PROBLEM AND SOLVE IT QUICKLY.

2. JOEY LOGANO: I WONDER IF JOEY SPENT TO MUCH TIME WORRYING ABOUT WINNING THE STARTING POLE AND NOT ENOUGH TIME ON WHERE HE WOULD BE WHEN LAP 500 ROLLED AROUND. BUT THEN AGAIN MAYBE JOE GIBBS NEEDS TO BAR JOEY FROM READING THE NEWSPAPER, THAT WAY HE QUITS BELIEVING HIS OWN PRESS CLIPPINGS.

3. PRISM MOTORSPORTS: FOLKS THESE FELLOWS NEED TO JUST HANG UP THEIR SADDLE, CAUSE THEY JUST DON'T HAVE WHAT IT TAKES, MONEY, TO GET THE JOB DONE. I REALIZE THAT DAVE BLANEY NOR MIKE WALTRIP ARE WORLD CLASS DRIVERS, BUT I KNOW THEY ARE GOOD ENOUGH TO RUN MORE THEN 40 AND 46 LAPS, AND LETS FACE IT , IT DOES TAKE A LITTLE TALENT TO GRAB THE NUMBER 3 STARTING POSITION. SO FOR MY PART I THINK THEY NEED TO HANG IT UP AND QUIT EMBARRASSING THEMSELVES AND THE DRIVERS OF THEIR CARS.

4. CLINT BOWYER: CLINT HAS HAD A COUPLE OF BAD WEEKS AND LOOKED TODAY LIKE HE WAS REALLY DOWN. I HOPE THAT HE IS NOT NOW BECOMING THE LOW MAN ON THE TOTEM POLE SINCE CASEY MEARS IS GONE.

HOT:

1. JIMMIE JOHNSON: JIMMIE "THE KID" DOES IT AGAIN, ALONG WITH HIS FAITHFUL SIDEKICK CHAD KNAUS. WHAT IS IT NOW 3 WINS IN 5 RACES AND THIS ISN'T EVEN THE PART OF THE SEASON WHERE HE NORMALLY RUNS GOOD. FOLKS LIKE IT OR NOT IT MAY NOT BE TOO LONG BEFORE FANS START TO CALL JIMMIE " THE KING". GIVEN THE FORMAT OF RACING TODAY I AM SURE THAT JIMMIE WILL NOT SURPASS THE 200 VICTORIES OF RICHARD PETTY, BUT I THINK THAT BEFORE HE IS FINISHED JIMMIE WILL HAVE ACCOMPLISHED THINGS THAT ARE GOING TO CAST A SHADOW EVEN ON RICHARD PETTY.

2. TONY STEWART: TONY STARTED THE DAY ON THE 6TH ROW AND IN A MANNER THAT MOST OF US ARE NOT USED TO SEEING, SLOWLY BUT SURELY WORKED ON HIS CAR AND ON POSITIONING HIMSELF FOR AN EXCELLENT 2ND PLACE FINISH. A DIFFERENT CALL ON THE LAST PITSTOP MIGHT HAVE MADE SOME DIFFERENCE, BUT TONY SEEMED PLEASED THIS WEEK TO BE NUMBER 2.

3. KURT BUSCH: KURT DID EVERYTHING TODAY EXCEPT WIN THE RACE AND SELL POPCORN IN THE GRANDSTAND. I'M NOT SURE IF THE COMMENT ABOUT THE BUSCH BROTHERS NOT BEING ABLE TO DRIVE AND IT ALL STEVE ADDINGTON WAS SUPPOSE TO BE A COMPLIMENT OR A SLAP IN THE FACE OF HIS CREW CHIEF, BUT EITHER WAY KURT RAN A HECK OF A RACE AND IF HE KEEPS IT UP, HE WILL BE THERE AT THE LAST RACE PUSHING JJ FOR ALL HE IS WORTH.

4. ROUSH RACING: PUTTIN 3 OF 4 CARS IN THE TOP 6 AIN'T TO SHABBY FOR A TEAM THAT HAD TROUBLE FINISHING RACES LAST SEASON. WHATEVER THE PROBLEM WAS IT APPEARS THAT THIS GROUP HAS OVERCOME IT AND ARE ON THEIR WAY TO A BANNER YEAR.

FOLKS THAT IS HOW I SAW THE RACE, PLEASE FEEL FREE TO FILL IN ANYTHING THAT I MISSED AND MAYBE I WILL DO BETTER NEXT WEEK.

THAT IS MY OPINION - WHAT'S YOURS

HOT OR NOT: THE MARCH THRU ATLANTA

GREETINGS FROM SW OKLAHOMA:

WELL, WHAT WE SAW TODAY MAY NOT HAVE BEEN PRETTY BUT IT WAS EXCITING AND WHAT WE SAW FROM CARL EDWARDS MIGHT HAVE NOT BEEN PRETTY, BUT THAT IS WHAT THE FANS SAID THEY WANTED, SO THERE YOU GO. KNOWING THAT WHAT WE SAW COULD HAVE RESULTED IN DEATH OR SERIOUS INJURY, MAYBE WE NEED TO BE A LITTLE MORE CAREFUL ABOUT WHAT WE ASK FOR, CAUSE WE MIGHT JUST GET MORE THEN WE ASK FOR. DON'T GET ME WRONG I LOVE TO SEE EXCITMENT AND BUMPING AND BANGING BUT WHAT CARL DID WAS WRONG, BUT NOT ANYMORE WRONG THEN A FEW OF THE THINGS THAT DALE SR. DID DURING HIS CAREER SO RIGHT, WRONG, OR OTHERWISE CARL WILL STAY AS ONE OF MY FAVORITE DRIVERS. ENOUGH PREACHING AND ON TO HOW I SAW THE RACE.

NOT:

1. ROBBY GORDON: THE FIRST TO FALL IN THE MARCH. ROBBY SO NEEDS TO GET OUT OF NASCAR AND STICK TO OFF-ROAD AND CROSS COUNTRY RACING, AT LEAST HE WOULD HAVE PLENTY OF ROOM WHEN HE SPINS TO NOT DO ANY DAMAGE TO HIS CAR. HIS LAST NAME MIGHT BE GORDON, BUT IT AIN'T JEFF AND I DON'T FIGURE HE HAS THE COINS TO KEEP REPLACING CARS ON A WEEKLY BASIS.

2. BRAD KESELOWSKI: THIS BOY SURE NEEDS TO STILL BE IN NATIONWIDE OR MAYBE GO KARTS. HE MAY THINK HIS CRAP DON'T STINK, BUT I HAVE NEWS FOR HIM, HE SMELLS UP THE WHOLE RACE TRACK. BUT I HAVE AN IDEA THAT HE IS IN FOR A VERY LONG SEASON WITH MORE HARD KNOCKS THEN A SNARE DRUM IN A HEAVY METAL BAND.

3. DAVID REGAN: GEE GUYS, DON'T PUT ME ON T.V. AGAIN, DAVID WAS RUNNING PRETTY GOOD, HE GETS ON TV AND THE GUYS TALK ABOUT HIM AND BEFORE THEY PULL OFF THE CAMERA HE BLOWS A TIRE, HITS THE WALL AND PRETTY MUCH DID IN HIS DAY EARLY. HE STARTED 17TH AND FINISHED 37TH. IF THEY WERE MAKING STONE SOUP IN ATLANTA TODAY DAVID COULD HAVE SERVED AS THE STONE CAUSE HE DROPPED LIKE A ROCK.

4. HENDRICKS TIRE PROBLEMS: I'M NOT SMART ENOUGH TO UNDERSTAND JUST WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS, BUT IT SURE AFFECTED PRETTY MUCH EVERY HENDRICK RELATED CAR TODAY. WHEN IT FIRST HAPPENED I THOUGHT IT WAS JUST THE JR. WE HAVE COME TO KNOW AND DREAD, BUT THEN IT SEEMED TO HIT EVERY CAR CONNECTED TO HENDRICKS IN ANYWAY.

5. CARL EDWARDS: WELL, I GUESS EVEN OPIE CAN LOSE HIS COOL ONCE IN AWHILE, BUT THERE WAS NO CALL FOR WHAT HAPPENED. WHATEVER NASCAR DOES I AM AFRAID THAT CARL DESERVES IT. HIS ACTIONS TODAY REALLY HAD AN EFFECT ON THE OUTCOME OF THE RACE AND MAY WELL HAVE EFFECTS ON NASCAR'S ACTIONS FOR LONG INTO THE FUTURE. BESIDES CARL SHOULD KNOW BY NOW THAT WHOEVER HITS BACK IS ALWAYS THE ONE THAT GOES TO THE PRINCIPAL'S OFFICE AND CATCHES THE FLACK.

HOT:

5. DAVID GILLILAND: DAVID STARTED 37TH AND FINISHED 26TH, NOT ANYTHING EARTH SHATTERING ABOUT THAT , BUT HE STAYED OUT OF THE WAY ON THE TRACK AND IN THE PITS TO MAKE SURE HE HAD NO NEGITIVE INFLUENCE ON THE RACE, WITH THAT TYPE OF ATTITUDE I THINK I MIGHT JUST HAVE TO START ROOTING FOR HIM JUST A LITTLE BIT.

4. STEVE ADDINGTON: IT APPEARS THAT STEVE WAS JUST THE GLUE THAT THE "BREW CREW" NEEDED TO HOLD THEM TOGETHER. STEVE APPEARS TO BE VERY CALM AND LAID BACK BUT I HAVE A FEELING THAT BEHIND THE DOORS OF THE SHOP HE IS TOUGH AS NAILS AND MORE HARD HEADED THEN KURT, SO I THINK THEY MAY MAKE THE PERFECT TEAM, ONLY TIME WILL TELL BUT THEY SURE SEEM TO BE OFF TO A GREAT START.

3. JUAN MONTOYA: JUAN STARTED 3RH AND FINISHED IN THE SAME PLACE, DOESN'T SOUND LIKE MUCH OF A DAY, BUT JUAN WAS RIGHT IN THE THICK OF THINGS FROM START TO FINISH. TAKE AWAY THE CARL AND BRAD SHOW AND I THINK JUAN GETS HIS FIRST OVAL TRACK WIN. WITH SOME OF THE THINGS THAT HAVE KEPT HIM FROM WINNING ALREADY IT MAKES ME WONDER IF THE RACING GODS HAVE DECIDED THAT THEY ARE GONNA LET HIM GET JUST SO CLOSE THAT HE CAN TASTE THAT WIN, BUT NEVER GET TO SAVOR IT LIKE A GOOD MEAL.

2. MATT KENSETH: MATT STARTED 14TH AND WORKED HIS MAGIC ALL THE WAY TO 2ND BEFORE THE RACE WAS OVER. MATT SO MUCH REMINDS ME OF A GHOST, YOU DON'T SEE HIM AND YOU DON'T SEE HIM AND THEN "POOF" THERE HE IS. HE CURRENTLY STNADS 2ND IN THE STANDINGS AND WHILE IT MAY BE WAY EARLY TO THINK, I DON'T THINK WE ARE GONNA SEE A REPEAT OF LAST YEAR AND IN THE END MATT WILL BE THERE.

1. KURT BUSCH: KURT STARTED 11TH TODAY AND WITH THE HELP OF THE "BREW CREW" AND STEVE ADDINGTON HE RAN ONE OF THE BEST RACES OF HIS CAREER. KURT HAS BEEN ABLE TO HARNESS HIS URGE TO WIN AND TEMPER IT WITH A LITTLE HUMILITY AND GRACIOUSNESS TO BECOME ONE OF THE MOST CONSISTENT DRIVERS ON THE CIRCUIT TODAY. LOOK FOR HIM TO BE IN THE TOP 5 WHEN ALL IS SAID AND DONE THIS SEASON.

PAUL MENARD AND A.J. ALLMENDINGER BOTH HAD GOOD RACES TODAY BUT WE WILL JUST HAVE TO WAIT AND SEE IF THEIR ABILITY AND GOOD FORTUNE HOLD OUT. THIS IS HOW I SAW THE RACE AND A DO HOPE AT LEAST A FEW AGREE, BUT EITHER WAY CHIME IN AND LET ME KNOW WHAT YOU THINK.

HOT OR NOT: ROLLIN' THEM BONES

GREETING FROM SW OKLAHOMA:

WELL NEITHER OF THE HOMETOWN BOYS FAIRED VERY WELL TODAY AND IN THE END I GUESS THE WINNER WAS THE ONE THAT EVERYONE EXPECTED. I'M NOT SURE WHAT "THORN BUSCH'S" PROBLEM WAS BUT CAN SAY FOR SURE THAT KURT'S WAS NOT A PROBLEM OF HIS OR HIS TEAM'S MAKING, FOOLISHNESS ON THE PART OF THE E-G BOYS CAUSED KURT'S DAY TO GO TO HELL IN A HANDBASKET EARLY, AND THAT IS A SHAME. I THINK IT MIGHT HAVE BEEN COOL TO SEE HIM WIN AT HOME.

THIS IS HOW I SAW THE RACE, AND I MUST ADMIT I MISSED A LITTLE OF IT DUE TO GOING TO PICK UP GRANDAUGHTER AT WORK BUT I DON'T REALLY THINK I MISSED ENOUGH TO HAVE ALTERED HOW I SAW IT.

SPECIAL HOT:

THE YOUNG MAN WHO DID THE NATIONAL ANTHEM WAS SUPER, I SHOULD BE ASHAMED I MISSED HIS NAME AT THE START, BUT NASCAR NEEDS TO GET THAT GUY UNDER CONTRACT TO DO IT EVERY WEEK AT EVERY RACE. THIS MAN DID THE BEST VOCAL VERSION OF IT I HAVE HEARD SINCE I STARTED WATCHING NASCAR.

NOT:

1. JAMIE McMURRAY: THIS IS DEJA VU ALL OVER AGAIN, HE STARTED GREAT WHEN HE FIRST CAME ON THE SCENE, HE WON A RACE, HIS SECOND RACE THEN HE SORT OF WENT TO POT, THIS SEASON HE STARTS OUT WINNING THE DAYTONA 500 AND IS NOW HEADED BACK TO THE POT. OF COURSE, WITH HELP LIKE HE GOT FROM HIS SOUTH AMERICAN TEAMMATE TODAY IT IS NO WONDER.

2. BRUTON SMITH: GOOD GRIEF THIS MAN HAS MORE MONEY THEN CUSTER HAD INDIANS AND HE CAN'T PUT TOGETHER A LIGHT AND WARNING SYSTEM THAT WORKS OR AT LEAST HAS A WARNING BUZZER WHEN THERE IS A MALFUCTION. MY VOTE IS THAT KENTUCKY GETS NO NASCAR RACE TILL HE CAN GET THE LIGHTS FIXED AT THE TRACKS HE OWNS NOW.

3. JUAN MONTOYA: IF YOU HAVE A PROBLEM WITH A TEAMMATE GET WITH HIM AFTER THE RACE AND FIGHT IT OUT, BUT DON'T WHINE ON NATIONAL TV, THAT IS SOMETHING THAT WILL CAUSE MORE PROBLEMS THEN YOU CAN SHAKE A STICK AT. I WAS ALWAYS TOLD THAT WHEN IT COMES TO EMPLOYEES AND TEAMMATES, PRAISE IN PUBLIC AND CORRECT OR CRITIZE IN PRIVATE.

4. KEVIN CONWAY: I REALIZE THAT THIS IS A NEW KID ON THE BLOCK, BUT WHEN YOU BRING OUT 2 CAUTIONS BY YOURSELF YOU GOTTA THINK YOUR ROLLING NOTHING BUT SNAKE EYES. KEEP THIS PACE UP AND YOU MAY FIND IT HARD TO WIN THE ROOKIE OF THE YEAR, EVEN IF YOU ARE PRETTY MUCH THE ONLY ROOKIE RUNNING.

5. DALE EARNHARDT JR.: ONCE AGAIN JR. GETS A GOOD RUN FOR THE STARTING SLOT THEN RUNS THE FIRST OF THE RACE LIKE A HOUSE A FIRE THEN ENDS THE RACE LIKE HE IS GOING BACKWARDS. IT MIGHT BE THAT A LITTLE LESS ARGUING DURING THE RACE WOULD HELP ALOT. I HAD LOOKED AWAY FROM THE TV WHEN THEY PLAYED THAT VOICE CLIP AND AT FIRST IT THOUGHT IT WAS KYLE BUSCH AND HIS CREWCHIEF.

HOT:

5. MATT KENSETH: MATT STARTED 11TH TODAY AND WORKED ALL DAY LONG TO GET TO THE FRONT. THERE WERE TIMES WHEN HE GOT EVER SO CLOSE BUT IN THE END HE HAD TO SETTLE FOR 5TH, BUT EVEN A 5TH IS SO MUCH BETTER THEN MOST OF THE RACES HE RAN LAST YEAR, SO WHATEVER HE AND HIS NEW CREW CHIEF ARE DOING IT SURE SEEMS TO BE WORKING.

4. MARK MARTIN: THE NUMBER 3 MAN FOR HMS DID HIS EVERY SUNDAY DRIVE THROUGH THE PARK, JUST AS HE HAS DONE SO OFTEN THAT IT APPEARS TO BE OLD HAT, MARK MAKES IT LOOK SO SIMPLE YET WE ALL KNOW THAT IT IS ANYTHING BUT .

3. JEFF GORDON: 2 OR 4, 2 OR 4, I'LL BET YOU A BUCK THAT CHOICE NEVER COMES UP AGAIN. JEFF DROVE ALMOST A PERFECT RACE BUT AS HAS HAPPENED TO HIM MANY TIMES BEFORE HE ENDED UP A GROOMSMAN AND NOT THE GROOM. I AM SURE THAT JEFF WAS BURNING UP INSIDE BUT HE WAS THE PERFECT TEAMMATE WHILE IN FRONT OF THE CAMERA, I THINK JUAN SHOULD TAKE A LESSON.

2. KEVIN HARVICK: KEVIN STARTED 34TH AND AFTER WORKING HARDER THEN A ONE-LEGGED MAN AT A BUTT KICKING CONTEST FINISHED SECOND, ANYONE WHO DOESN'T THINK RCR IS BACK JUST NEEDS TO LOOK AT THE FINISHES FOR TODAY 2,8,11 THESE ARE A SURE SIGN THAT ALL IS GOOD AT RCR TODAY.

1. JIMMIE JOHNSON: AND THE WINNER IS JIMMIE JOHNSON. WHAT ELSE CAN YOU SAY, IT HAS ALL BEEN SAID BEFORE. I THINK MAYBE THEY NEED TO START MAKING JIMMIE START 43RD AND ONE LAP DOWN, AT LEAST THAT WOULD GIVE THE REST OF THE FIELD A FIGHTING CHANCE.

WELL THAT IS HOW I SAW THE RACE, I HOPE A COUPLE OF YOU AGREE AND EVEN IF YOU DON'T CHIME IN WITH WHAT YOU SAW.

HOT OR NOT - CALIFORNIA DREAMIN" does that mean i'm asleep

GREETINGS FROM SW OKLAHOMA:

SORRY FOLKS I JUST CAN'T GET REAL EXCITED ABOUT THE RACES OUT ON THE LEFT COAST, DON'T KNOW WHAT IT IS BUT FOR ME THERE SEEMS JUST TO MUCH OF THE SAME THING GOING ON ALL THE TIME. TODAY THE HIGH LIGHT WAS WHEN JOHNSON DIDN'T GET HELD A LAP DOWN FOR PITTING TO EARLY, AND BELIEVE ME I THINK THEY WERE EXACTLY RIGHT.

THIS IS HOW I SAW THE RACE, AND I KNOW I HAVE MADE BETTER OBSERVATIONS, BUT NOTHING REALLY STUCK OUT GOOD OR BAD ABOUT THE RACE TODAY.

NOT:

1. THE NATIONAL ANTHEM: I GUESS I AM JUST WAY TO PICKY, BUT IT SEEMS THERE IS A CONTEST AMOUNG THE TRACKS AS TO WHO CAN GET THE WORST PERFORMANCE OF OUR NATIONAL ANTHEM. I HAVE A COPY OF THE STATLER BROTHERS "NATIONAL ANTHEM" THAT I WILL LET NASCAR BORROW TO PLAY OVER THE P.A. SYSTEM AT THE REST OF THE RACES THIS YEAR.

2. MARTIN TRUEX JR.: MARTIN WAS COMING OFF A GREAT RUN AT DAYTOA AND RUNNING REALLY WELL AT THE START TODAY, THEN BOOM, CAR MALFUNCTION AND HE IS DONE FOR THE DAY. I HOPE THIS IS NOT A SIGN OF THINGS TO COME, MARTIN NEEDS A GOOD STEADY SEASON FOR THE FIRST YEAR WITH HIS NEW TEAM.

3. JUAN MONTOYA: HOW DOES THE LINE IN THAT SONG GO "YOUR PUSHIN' TO HARD , YOUR PUSHIN' TO HARD". WHEN YOU BLOW ONE UP THAT EARLY IN THE RACE I THINK IT TELLS ME HE NEEDS TO BACK OFF JUST A TAD. IT WAS ALMOST LIKE HE WAS LISTENING TO THE GUYS IN THE BOOTH, LARRY Mc MENTIONED A POSSIBLE PROBLEM WITH BLOWING UP THE MOTOR AND ABOUT 5 MINUTES LATER JUAN SHOWED US HOW TO DO IT.

4. DALE EARNHARDT JR. : LOUSY LUCK OR JUST A BAD PIECE OF EQUIPMENT, WE MAY NEVER KNOW, BUT JR. SURE DIDN'T HAVE THE DAY HE DID A WEEK AGO. I MEAN HE WASN'T SITTING THE WOODS ON FIRE, BUT HE WAS POSITIONED TO WHERE HE COULD HAVE GOTTEN A DECENT FINISH, THEN HE BREAKS AN AXLE, JUST HOW BAD IS THAT.

5. STEWART-HASS RACING: TONY AND RYAN HAVE BOTH STARTED THIS SEASON IN A VERY POOR MANNER, RYAN WITH 2 DNF'S AND TONY WITH 2 VERY ILL HANDLING CARS. A FEW MOR WEEKS LIKE THESE AND THEY WILL BE ABLE TO USE GENE AUTRY'S SONG "SILVER HAIRED DADDY OF MINE" AS TONY'S THEME MUSIC.

HOT:

5. JOEY LAGANO: THE BOY STARTED THE RACE 19TH AND WORKED HIS TAIL OFF ALL DAY LONG, AND HE WAS REWARDED WITH A NO. 5 FINISH FOR THE DAY. HIS DISAGREEMENT WITH BIFFLE FROM SATURDAY CONTINUED A LITTLE, BUT NOT ENOUGH TO DRAW HIS ATTENTION AWAY FROM THE PRIMARY GOAL OF GETTING A TOP FIVE OR TOP 10 FINISH.

4. MARK MARTIN: MARK CONTINUES TO AMAZE ME EVERY WEEK, HE APPEARS TO BE VERY SOFT, KIND HEARTED, AND FORGIVING, NOT THE TRAITS YOU EXPECT TO FIND IN A TIP TOP DRIVER IN NASCAR OR ANY OTHER RACING ORGANIZATION. I GUESS THAT JUST PROVES THAT JUST BECAUSE YOU WEAR A WHITE HAT DON'T MEAN YOU GONNA FINISH LAST.

3. JEFF BURTON: JEFF WORKS SO HARD TO IMPROVE NOT ONLY HIMSELF BUT ALSO HIS TEAM, IT IS GREAT TO SEE HIM AND HIS RCR TEAMMATES BACK IN THE HUNT. BURTON IS GOING TO WIN AND REGUARDLESS OF WHERE OTHER RCR'S MAY GO JEFF WILL CONTINUE TO CARRY THE RCR BANNER WITH PRIDE.

2. KEVIN HARVICK: I DO BELIEVE THAT KEVIN IS BEGINNING TO REALIZE THAT THE OLD SAYING " GOOD THINGS COME TO THOSE WHO WAIT" IS A TRUE STATEMENT. MOST OF LAST YEAR KEVIN SUCKED, THEN RIGHT NEAR THE END THINGS STARTED TO IMPROVE THEN A GOOD FINISH AT DAYTONA AND A 2ND TODAY HAS PUT KEVIN IN THE CATBIRD'S SEAT. I'M GLAD THAT KEVIN IS IMPROVING AND MAYBE STARTING TO MOVE OUT FROM UNDER THE TITLE OF "THE GUY THAT TOOK BIG DALE'S PLACE".

1. JIMMIE JOHNSON: TALK ABOUT A SUPER DUPER REBOUND, A WORSE THEN LOUSY FINISH AT DAYTONA AND SORT OF BACK AND FORTH TODAY AND THEN A LUCKY BREAK ON THE CAUTION AND HE GETS THE WIN. JIMMIE AND THE 48 CREW PROVED AGAIN TODAY THE THE BEST CURE FOR A LOUSY RACE IS TEAMWORK, BELIEF IN EACH OTHER AND LISTENING TO EACH OTHER.

WELL FOLKS THAT IS HOW I SAW THE RACE, I DO NEED TO SAY THAT SCOTT SPEED DID A VERY GOOD JOB TODAY AND A FEW MORE RUNS LIKE TODAY'S AND I MIGHT HAVE TO RETRACT MY STATEMENT ABOUT THEY NEED TO GET RID OF HIM. I HOPE A FEW AGREE AND EVEN IF YOU DON'T LET ME KNOW WHAT YOU THINK AND WE WILL SEE IF WE CAN FIND SOME COMMON GROUND SOMEHWERE BETWEEN THE TWO.

GOOD LORD, LEAVE THE GIRL ALONE

GREETINGS FROM SW OKLAHOMA:

HERE EVERYONE THOUGHT THAT THE DRIVERS WOULD GIVE DANICA A HARD TIME AND TRY TO DRIVE HER OUT OF NASCAR AND BACK TO THE INDY STUFF. BUT NO, THE DAMN MEDIA IS GOING TO RAM HER DOWN OUR NECKS TO THE POINT THAT THE FANS PUSH, SHOVE AND KICK HER OUT OF NASCAR.

I AM HOPING THAT SHE DOES WELL AND MAKES IT IN THE REAL RACING WORLD, BUT CRAP, WHO CARES IF SHE FINISHED 31ST. ANY OTHER DRIVER IN THE FIELD THAT FINISHES 31 DOESN'T EVEN GET A SECOND THOUGHT MUCH LESS A DUO HEADLINE WITH THE RACE WINNER.

YES SHE FINISHED THE RACE, YES SHE FINISHED HIGHER THEN SHE STARTED, AND YES SHE FINISHED HIGHER THEN THE OTHER OPEN WHEEL GUYS DID IN THIER FIRST RACE IN SOUTHERN CALF. BUT THEN THEY KEPT TELLING US ALL DAY ALL SHE WAS DOING WAS MAKES LAPS AND TRYING TO LEARN.

I'M NOT GONNA TRY TO REWATCH THE RACE TO CHECK BUT WOULD ALMOST BET THAT THE DRIVER WHO FINISHED 30TH NEVER GOT HIS NAME MENTIONED ALL DAY LONG AFTER DRIVER INTROS. AND I BET HE WORKED JUST AS HARD AS SHE DID.

IF THE MEDIA DOESN'T GET OFF HER BUTT AND ALLOW HER TO LEARN, MAKE MISTAKES, AND MAKE IMPROVEMENTS, THE FANS AND DRIVERS WON'T HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT DANICA FOR LONG, SHE WILL GO THE WAY OR ERIN CROCKER AND SO MANY OTHER WOMEN WHO HAVE TRIED TO MAKE IT IN NASCAR, INTO THE SUNSET WITHOUT LEAVING A MARK ON THE TRACK ANYWHERE.

HOT OR NOT: DAYTONA - THE RED FLAG IS UP

GREETINGS FROM SW OKLAHOMA:

IS THERE ANYONE OUT THERE BESIDES MYSELF THAT FEELS THAT THERE WAS NO CALL FOR THE PROBLEMS ON THE TRACK TODAY. YES, THEY HAVE HAD SOME PRETTY BAD RAINS AND THE TEMPS. HAVE BEEN A LITTLE LOWER THEN NORMAL, BUT THE TRACK CREW SHOULD HAVE KNOWN THAT THE WATER WAS GETTING UNDER THE ASPHALT AND HAVE HAD THE REPAIRS TAKEN CARE OF BEFORE THE RACE EVEN STARTED, AND THEY SHOULD ALSO HAVE KNOWN THAT IT WOULD HAVE CONTINUED TO COME APART AFTER THEY PATCHED IT BECAUSE THAT IS THE NATURE OF OLD ASPHALT.

OVERLOOKING THE TRACK PROBLEMS THE RACE WAS A REALLY GOOD RACE AND A VERY GOOD OPENING TO THE 2010 RACE SEASON AND A GREAT WAY TO WRAP UP SPEED WEEKS IN SUNNY FLORIDA. THIS IS HOW I SAW THE RACE, I HOPE A FEW OF YOU AGREE, BUT IF YOU DON'T, CHIME IN SO WE CAN GET ALL THE GOOD VIEWS SHARED AROUND HERE.

NOT

BRAD KESEKOWSKI: I THINK THEY MOVED THE BOY TO SOON, HE SHOULD HAVE STAYED IN THE PLAYPEN FOR AT LEAST ONE MORE YEAR. BUT ON THE UPSIDE DENNY DIDN'T HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT GETTING RUN OVER BY BRAD.

JOE NEMECHEK: "FRONT ROW " JOE JUST NEEDS TO BACKAWAY UNTIL HE CAN PUT MORE $$$$ IN THE RACE PROGRAM. RIGHT NOW I FEEL JOE IS HAVING TO SPEND SO MUCH TIME SEARCHING FOR SPONSORS THAT HE CAN'T CONCERTRATE ON THE RACING . I HATE TO SEE A MAN LIKE JOE "BUSTING A GUT" AND ALWAYS COMING UP ON THE SHORT END OF THE STICK.

MIKE BLISS: WHEN YOUR INVOLVED IN A WRECK IN THE FIRST EIGHT LAPS AND THEN SPIN OUT WITHOUT ANOTHER CAR WITHIN 200 FEET OF YOU, THAT MIGHT BE A SIGN THAT YOU NEED TO BE SOMEWHERE BESIDES DAYTONA.

DAYTONA MOTOR SPEEDWAY: THERE WAS NO EXCUSE FOR THAT MUCH WATER TO BE GETTING UNDER THE ASPHALT. I DON'T REALLY THINK THAT THE TEMPS. WERE SO EXTREME THIS WEEK TO HAVE SPLIT THE SURFACE, THAT WAS A ZIT THAT HAS BEEN DEVELOPING FOR AWHILE AND IT POPPED TODAY. I CAN'T BELIEVE THEY ALLOWED THE TRACK TO GET IN THAT BAD A SHAPE, IT SURE LOOKS LIKE A VERY POOR MAINTENANCE JOB TO ME.

ELLIOTT SADLER: ELLIOTT WAS LOOSE AS A GOOSE ALL DAY LONG AND BY HIS OWN ADMISSION, HE WAS HAVING A REALLY HARD TIME HOLDING ON. I REALLY LIKE SADLER, BUT TODAY HE SHOULD HAVE GONE TO THE 43RD SPOT AND JUST RODE AROUND, INSTEAD HE KEPT PUSHING FOR THE FRONT AND IN THE END HE JUST MESSED UP A BUNCH OF GOOD CARS.

HOT:

DAVID REUTIMANN: DAVID FLOATED AROUND ALL DAY SORT OF LIKE A GHOST, NO ONE REALLY EVEN MENTIONED HIM EXCEPT WHEN HE DID THE LITTLE SPOT DURING THE RED FLAG STOP. HE STAYED CALM ALL DAY LONG AND RIGHT AT THE END GAVE JR. A SUPER PUSH AND SNUCK RIGHT INTO 5TH PLACE, A REALLY GOOD START OF THE SEASON FOR MWR AND TOYOTA.

CLINT BOWYER: KANSAS BOY DOES GOOD AGAIN. CLINT WORKED SO HARD ALL DAY LONG AND ALONG WITH KEVIN HARVICK PROVED THAT RCR HAVE GOTTEN ALL THEIR STUFF IN ONE SOCK AND ARE A TEAM TO BE RECKONED WITH THIS YEAR.

GREG BIFFLE: GREG WOORKED ALL DAY LONG TO PROVE HIMSELF AND HIS RACING TEAM. BEFORE THE END OF THE SEASON I DO THINK GREG IS GOING TO BE THE FACE OF ROUSH RACING, BUT THEN I WOULDN'T EXPECT ANYTHING LESS FROM A GUY WHO RAISES BOXER DOGS.

DALE EARNHARDT JR.: HMMMM, ANOTHER BOXER LOVER, I WONDER IF THIS COULD BE A SIGN. JR. PROVED TODAY THAT SOME TIMES GOOD LUCK IS AS IMPORTANT AS GOOD SKILLS, BY HIS OWN ADMISSION, THINGS WERE ONLY SO-SO, BUT BEING IN THE RIGHT PLACE ON THE RIGHT RESTART BROUGHT JR. HIS BEST FINISH IN QUITE AWHILE. I REALLY THINK THAT LANCE IS GOING TO BE GOOD FOR JR. AND WILL SLOWLY BUT SURELY REBUILD JR.'S CONFIDENCE AND RETURN HIM TO THE WINNERS CIRCLE.

JAMIE McMURRAY: JAMIE SPENT HIS WHOLE TIME AT ROUSH MORE OR LESS AS THE STEPCHILD WHO GOT SHOVED IN THE CORNER AND IGNORED. THEN AT THE END OF LAST SEASON WAS DROPPED AND DIDN'T KNOW FOR SURE IF HE EVEN HAD A JOB FOR THIS SEASON. BUT TODAY HE SHOWED ROUSH WHAT HE HAD LOST AND EARNHARDT-GANASSI WHAT THEY HAD GOTTEN, A DRIVER WHO HAS HEART AND A YEARNING TO WIN THAT WE HAVEN'T SEEN IN AWHILE.

WELL THAT IS WHAT I SAW AND HOW I SAW IT. TWO OTHER DRIVERS THAT DESERVE A HATS OFF ARE MARTIN TRUEX JR. AND KEVIN HARVICK. EITHER OF THESE GUYS COULD HAVE BEEN IN THE WINNERS CIRCLE BUT CAME UP A TINY BIT SHORT. KEVIN JUST WAS THE SECOND VERSE OF THE RCR IS BACK SONG AND MARTIN ALONG WITH REUTIMANN DID A PRETTY GOOD DUET OF HERE COMES MWR.

HOT & NOT 2010 EARLY SEASON GUESSES

GREETINGS FROM ICE FROZEN SW OKLAHOMA:
HERE WE SIT, FROZEN, BROKEN TREES EVERYWHERE NOT TO MENTION POWER LINES AND POWER POLES AND THE RACING SEASON ONLY 2 WEEKS AWAY. THEY DANG SURE BETTER GET MY CABLE REINSTALLED BEFORE DAYTONA.
THIS IS WHAT I SEE WAY EARLY IN THE SEASON AND OF COURSE ALL OF IT IS SUBJECT TO CHANGE DEPENDING ON WHO IS PLAYING BASKETBALL, THROWING A FREEZBE, OR RIDING ON A GOLF CART. I HAVE NEVER CLAIMED TO HAVE A CRYSTAL BALL BUT THIS IS WHAT I SEE FOR THE UP COMING SEASON.
HOT:
1. JEFF GORDON: JEFF WILL BE A LITTLE MORE OVER THE NEW CHILD FAMILY THING AND THE BACK PAINS AND ALL ATTENTION WILL BE FOCUSED ON THE CHAMPIONSHIP. PLUS, I THINK THIS YEAR IT MIGHT BE HIS TURN ON THE HENDRICKS ROTATION TO GET ALL OF THE ATTENTION.
2. JIMMIE JOHNSON: WITH THE FAMILY ON THE WAY JIMMIE IS GONNA BE A LITTLE DISTRACTED AND THAT IS EVEN IF THERE ARE NO PROBLEMS ALONG THE WAY. HE WILL BE AT THE TOP BUT I DON'T THINK THAT NO. 5 IS IN THE CARDS FOR THIS YEAR.
3. TONY STEWART: TONY WAS HOT EARLY LAST YEAR AND I LOOK FOR HIM TO BRAKE JUST A LITTLE IN THE EARLY RACES, BUT FROM MID-SEASON ON I THINK TONY WILL BLOW THE DOORS OFF. AND WITH THE BUMP-DRAFTING RULES OFF LOOK FOR HIM AND JR. TO LINK UP AND REALLY HAUL THE MAIL.
4. KYLE BUSCH: THORN BUSCH WILL BE GREAT THIS SEASON IF HE HAS GOTTEN HIS HEAD RIGHT OVER THE WINTER. IF THE DAY COMES WHEN HE EVER GETS THE FANS BEHIND HIM THERE WILLL BE NO STOPPING HIM, UNTIL TAHT TIME THERE ARE GONNA BE A LOT OF GOOD RUNS BUT NO BIG TROPHY AT HOMESTEAD.
5. JEFF BURTON: JEFF MAY NOT DRIVE THE LEAD CAR FOR RCR, BUT HE IS THE LEADER OF RCR, HE KEEPS HIMSELF ABOVE ALL THE BS THAT IS GOING ON AND PAYS ATTENTION TO THE RACING. I THINK AGAIN THIS YEAR JEFF WILL BE THERE AT THE END.
WARM:
1. MARK MARTIN: IF ALL TEH TALK ABOUT GETTING JR. BACK IN THE HUNT IS FOR REAL, MARK IS THE DRIVER WHO IS GOING TO SUFFER FOR IT, IT SEEMS THAT HMS CAN ONLY WORK WITH 3 CARS SO I AM WORRIED THAT MARK MAY BE IN FOR A ROUGH YEAR.
2. KEVIN HARVICK: WE HEAR THAT KEVIN AND RICHARD HAVE COME TO AN AGREEMENT AND IF THE RUNS FROM THE LAST 4 OR 5 RACES FROM LAST SEASON CONTINUE THEN KEVIN WILL DO WELL.
3. DENNY HAMLIN: I THOUGHT THIS WOULD BE DENNY'S YEAR TO SHINE, BUT WITH THE KNEE INJURY, I JUST DON'T SEE IT NOW. THE INJURY MAY NOT KEEP HIM OUT OF THE CAR BUT IT IS GOING TO SERVE AS ENOUGH OF A DISTRACTION TO KEEP HIM FROM GETTING THE BIG TROPHY AT HOMESTEAD.
4. DAVID RUITMANN: DAVID DID A WHALE OF A JOB LAST SEASON AND WITH NEW SPONSORS THERE SHOULDN'T BE MONEY PROBLEMS TO WORRY ABOUT AND ANOTHER YEAR OF EXPERIENCE I THINK DAVID WILL HAVE A GREAT SEASON.
5. CLINT BOWYER: CLINT IS ANOTHER DOWN HOME BOY THTA IS GONNA SHINE, DON'T THINK HE IS LOOKING AT ANOTHER YEAR OF MAJOR SHAKE UPS TO ADJUST TO SO HE WILL BEABLE TO DO THE "LET'S GO RACIN" THING AND END UP WITH A VERY GOOD SEASON.
6. DALE JR.: SUPPOSEDLY EVERYTHING IS TO BE WORK IN SINC TO GET JR. BACK IN THE FRAY AND HOPEFULLY IT WILL HAPPEN. HE IS A LONG WAY FROM A CHAMPIONSHIP, BUT A FEW WINS AND MANY MORE TOP 5'S AND 10'S ARE NOT OUT OF THE QUESTION.
NOT:
1. SCOTT SPEED: REALLY DON'T KNOW WHERE THIS GUY CAME FROM BUT I SURE WISH HE WOULD GO BACK. I REALLY THINK THAT DANICA WILL EXHIBIT MORE CAR CONTROL ON HER FIRST RACE THEN THIS GUY DID ALL YEAR.
2. DAVID REGAN: DAVID WAS SUPPOSE TO BE SOMEONE'S LIFE BLOOD, BUT SO FAR IT HASN'T TURNED OUT THAT WAY, AND I DON'T SEE ANY BIG CHANCES THIS YEAR.
3. PAUL MENARD: I REALLY WISH THAT HIS DADDY WOULD SORT OF FALL ON HARD TIMES, AT LEAST THAT WAY NO ONE WOULD BEABLE TO BUY THIS GUY A RIDE.
4. A.J. ALLMINDINGER: SEEMS LIKE WHAT THIS GUY DOES BEST IS PUT DINGERS ON OTHER GUYS CARS, MAYBE IF THEY WRAPPED HIS CAR IN "SAFER BARRIER" MATERIAL IT WOULD BE SAFE TO RACE AROUND HIM ON THE TRACK.
5. KASEY KAHNE: KASEY APPEARING ON THIS END IS NOT REALLY HIS FAULT , BUT UNTIL HE CAN GET AWAY FROM PETTY RACING AND ALL IT'S CRAP THEN HE IS GOING TO RUN POOR AND JUST END UP GETTIN MORE AND MORE UPSET.
6. JOHN ANDRETTI: JOHN MAY BE A GREAT GUY AND HAVE A REALLY NICE SMILE, BUT HE ISN'T MARIO BY A LONG SHOT, MAYBE HE NEEDS TO CLIMB OUT OF THE CAR AND BECOME AN AD MAN FOR SOME HIGH DOLLAR SPONSOR.

TIS'THE SEASON - ALMOST

GREETINGS FROM SOUTHWEST OKLAHOMA:

AS I SIT HERE TODAY WITH THE LEFTOVERS OF THE GREAT BLIZZARD OF 2009 STILL ON THE GROUND, I FIND MYSELF WISHING THAT THE NEXT MONTH WOULD GO BY 2 DAYS AT A TIME. I DON'T KNOW ABOUT THE REST OF YOU BUT I AM TIRED OF WAITING FOR THE RACE SEASON AND AM OVER READY FOR "GENTLEMEN START YOUR ENGINES", OF COURSE WITH MS. PATRICK IN THE MIX NOW I WONDER IF NATIONWIDE IS GOING TO HAVE TO GO TO "DRIVERS START YORU ENGINES"?

IT IS GETTING REALLY CLOSE TO THE SEASON START AND AS OF YET I HAVE NOT HEARD ANYTHING FROM FOXSPORTS AS TO IF THEY WISH TO CONTINUE THE "HOT OR NOT" PART OF THEIR BLOG PAGE. IF YOU HAVEN'T GONE TO THEIR NASCAR STUFF IN A WHILE THEY HAVE CHANGED EVERYTHING NOT JUST THE BLOG SITE.

I WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE WRITING THE WEEKLY ITEM ON HERE IF THE MAJORITY OF YOU HAVE NO OBJECTIONS, I LEARN ALOT FROM YOU GUYS AND THAT FORCES ME TO WATCH IN A DIFFERENT LIGHT AND THAT IS A GOOD THING.

SOMETHING I WOULD LIKE YOU GUYS TO DO , IS IN THE NEXT FEW DAYS, LIST A FEW OF WHAT YOU THOUGHT WERE THE HOT OR NOT DRIVERS, AND INCIDENTS AND I WILL COMBINE THEM AS AN OPENING FOR THE START OF THE 2010 SEASON.
