GREETINGS FROM S.W. OKLAHOMA,
HAVING JUST SAT OUT ANOTHER LESS THEN NATURAL SNOW AND ICE STORM IN THE SOONER STATE I MUST ADMIT I WAS NOT AT MY BEST TODAY DURING THE RACE. THE FACT IS I MISSED ABOUT A 150 LAPS BECAUSE I FELL ASLEEP IN MY CHAIR. SO WHAT YOU ARE GETTING HERE IS MORE OR LESS A SHORT VERSION OF THE HOT OR NOT. I WILL SAY I AM SORRY RIGHT OFF THE BAT AND BEG EACH OF YOU TO FILL IN THE GAPS THAT I LEAVE IN THIS WEEKS BLOG.
NOT:
1. TIRE ISSUES: THIS SEEMS TO BE A REOCCURRING PROBLEM THIS SEASON, I DON'T KNOW IF IT IS THE TIRES THEMSELVES OR THE SETUPS ON THE CARS, BUT EVEN IF THE ENGINEERS FROM ALL THE MAJOR TEAMS NEED TO PUT THEIR HEADS TOGETHER WITH GOODYEAR, SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE TO SOLVE THIS PROBLEM AND SOLVE IT QUICKLY.
2. JOEY LOGANO: I WONDER IF JOEY SPENT TO MUCH TIME WORRYING ABOUT WINNING THE STARTING POLE AND NOT ENOUGH TIME ON WHERE HE WOULD BE WHEN LAP 500 ROLLED AROUND. BUT THEN AGAIN MAYBE JOE GIBBS NEEDS TO BAR JOEY FROM READING THE NEWSPAPER, THAT WAY HE QUITS BELIEVING HIS OWN PRESS CLIPPINGS.
3. PRISM MOTORSPORTS: FOLKS THESE FELLOWS NEED TO JUST HANG UP THEIR SADDLE, CAUSE THEY JUST DON'T HAVE WHAT IT TAKES, MONEY, TO GET THE JOB DONE. I REALIZE THAT DAVE BLANEY NOR MIKE WALTRIP ARE WORLD CLASS DRIVERS, BUT I KNOW THEY ARE GOOD ENOUGH TO RUN MORE THEN 40 AND 46 LAPS, AND LETS FACE IT , IT DOES TAKE A LITTLE TALENT TO GRAB THE NUMBER 3 STARTING POSITION. SO FOR MY PART I THINK THEY NEED TO HANG IT UP AND QUIT EMBARRASSING THEMSELVES AND THE DRIVERS OF THEIR CARS.
4. CLINT BOWYER: CLINT HAS HAD A COUPLE OF BAD WEEKS AND LOOKED TODAY LIKE HE WAS REALLY DOWN. I HOPE THAT HE IS NOT NOW BECOMING THE LOW MAN ON THE TOTEM POLE SINCE CASEY MEARS IS GONE.
HOT:
1. JIMMIE JOHNSON: JIMMIE "THE KID" DOES IT AGAIN, ALONG WITH HIS FAITHFUL SIDEKICK CHAD KNAUS. WHAT IS IT NOW 3 WINS IN 5 RACES AND THIS ISN'T EVEN THE PART OF THE SEASON WHERE HE NORMALLY RUNS GOOD. FOLKS LIKE IT OR NOT IT MAY NOT BE TOO LONG BEFORE FANS START TO CALL JIMMIE " THE KING". GIVEN THE FORMAT OF RACING TODAY I AM SURE THAT JIMMIE WILL NOT SURPASS THE 200 VICTORIES OF RICHARD PETTY, BUT I THINK THAT BEFORE HE IS FINISHED JIMMIE WILL HAVE ACCOMPLISHED THINGS THAT ARE GOING TO CAST A SHADOW EVEN ON RICHARD PETTY.
2. TONY STEWART: TONY STARTED THE DAY ON THE 6TH ROW AND IN A MANNER THAT MOST OF US ARE NOT USED TO SEEING, SLOWLY BUT SURELY WORKED ON HIS CAR AND ON POSITIONING HIMSELF FOR AN EXCELLENT 2ND PLACE FINISH. A DIFFERENT CALL ON THE LAST PITSTOP MIGHT HAVE MADE SOME DIFFERENCE, BUT TONY SEEMED PLEASED THIS WEEK TO BE NUMBER 2.
3. KURT BUSCH: KURT DID EVERYTHING TODAY EXCEPT WIN THE RACE AND SELL POPCORN IN THE GRANDSTAND. I'M NOT SURE IF THE COMMENT ABOUT THE BUSCH BROTHERS NOT BEING ABLE TO DRIVE AND IT ALL STEVE ADDINGTON WAS SUPPOSE TO BE A COMPLIMENT OR A SLAP IN THE FACE OF HIS CREW CHIEF, BUT EITHER WAY KURT RAN A HECK OF A RACE AND IF HE KEEPS IT UP, HE WILL BE THERE AT THE LAST RACE PUSHING JJ FOR ALL HE IS WORTH.
4. ROUSH RACING: PUTTIN 3 OF 4 CARS IN THE TOP 6 AIN'T TO SHABBY FOR A TEAM THAT HAD TROUBLE FINISHING RACES LAST SEASON. WHATEVER THE PROBLEM WAS IT APPEARS THAT THIS GROUP HAS OVERCOME IT AND ARE ON THEIR WAY TO A BANNER YEAR.
FOLKS THAT IS HOW I SAW THE RACE, PLEASE FEEL FREE TO FILL IN ANYTHING THAT I MISSED AND MAYBE I WILL DO BETTER NEXT WEEK.
THAT IS MY OPINION - WHAT'S YOURS

Marcos Ambrose goes in both for me...not because he got pinged for speeding twice, and hot since he was able to make his way to the front after both penalties until he got caught up in that wreck.
ReplyDeleteTEZ,
ReplyDeleteI AGREE BUT WASN'T SURE JSUT WHAT THE DEAL WAS WITH THE WRECK THINK THAT WAS DURING MY NAP (LOL), THANKS FOR THE HELP.
GUNAQUAT
Purty good GUNNY esp since you fell asleep during most of the race! LOL
ReplyDeleteMe thinks you are being hard on Mr. Logano - his car was tight and they couldnt get it adjusted.
What about Biffle taking out Martin and most of the field - some good cars like #00 and #42 and #5 could have made ending better than just JJ vs. Kurt.
BOO to Kenseth for missing the final restart and not allowing Kurt to move up and keep pace with JJ.
Kurt took a dig at Steve there...not sure why since Kurt overruled the call at the end. Steve called for 2 tires, Kurt for 4. Either way you needed luck to win that one.
KRIS,
ReplyDeleteLIKE I SAID I REALLY NEED THE HELP ON THIS ONE, WELL I WASN'T SURE IF THAT WAS A DIG OR NOT WHEN YOU READ IT IN PRINT IT APPEARS TO BE A COMPLIMENT.
HOPEFULY BETTER NEXT WEEK

ReplyDeleteKRIS IF YOU GO TO THIS STORY IT REALLY SORT OF SOUNDS LIKE A COMPLIMENT, BUT MAYBE FOR SURE YOU KNOW KURT'S MOODS AND INFLECTION BETTER THEN I DO..
GUNAQUAT
Gunaquat, you're right--our blog posts for the race ARE very similar! The Roushkateers are running much better than last year--all that's left for them to do is start winning races. And I am glad you called out Prism Motorsports as well.
ReplyDeleteJON,
ReplyDeleteIT WAS REALLY SO STRANGE I WROTE MINE ADN POSTED IT AND YOURS WAS RIGHT THERE SO CLICKED ON IT TO READ AND THOUGTH WOW, I'M READING WHAT I JUST WROTE. LOL LOL
YEAH I UNDERSTAND GUYS TRYING TO BREAK IN AND ALL OF THAT BUT TO MAKE SUCH FOOLS OF YOURSELVES IS REALLY JUST A LITTLE TO MUCH.

Well, unfortunately, I cannot really fill in too much. I have been dealing with a terrible sinus infection for almost two weeks, and the pollen around here isn't helping. So I really missed alot of the race myself. But you know me I was around for the end. And I was thrilled to see Mr. Stewart have a top 5 finish. Just wish that Jimmie would have had more trouble getting through traffic, so he would not have won. But all well, there is always next week. LOL
ReplyDeleteI hope that you guys are finally through with all the bad winter stuff. You guys have really been hit hard this year. Is this one of the worst years for the winter stuff or is this just normal and I am just paying more attention to it this year?
TSFAN,
ReplyDeleteWELL AT LEAST YOU HAD AN EXCUSE FOR MISSING THE RACE.
YEAH THE WEATHER HERE HAS BEEN MUCH WORSE THEN WAHT WE USUALLY GET, IT IS MORE COMMON FOR US TO GET A TINY BIT OF SNOW AND 3 OR 4 DAYS OF BLACK ICE ON THE STREETS AND THAT IS ABOUT IT. THIS YEAR IT HAS CAUSE US TO LOSE ABOUT 1/4 OF THE TREES IN TOWN AND HAS REALLY PLAYED HELL WITH THE ASPHALT STREETS IF YOU THINK DAYTON A WAS BAD YOU SHOULD SEE SOME OF THE SPOTS HERE IN TOWN.

I knew I was hearing alot more bad weather from Oklahoma. So I wasn't sure if I was just paying more attention or if things were really alot worse than usual. My mom has a sister in South Dakota, so I usually try to listen to the weather for there. But every time I turn on the weather, they would be talking about the bad weather in Oklahoma.
