HOT OR NOT - CALIFORNIA DREAMIN" does that mean i'm asleep

GREETINGS FROM SW OKLAHOMA:

SORRY FOLKS I JUST CAN'T GET REAL EXCITED ABOUT THE RACES OUT ON THE LEFT COAST, DON'T KNOW WHAT IT IS BUT FOR ME THERE SEEMS JUST TO MUCH OF THE SAME THING GOING ON ALL THE TIME. TODAY THE HIGH LIGHT WAS WHEN JOHNSON DIDN'T GET HELD A LAP DOWN FOR PITTING TO EARLY, AND BELIEVE ME I THINK THEY WERE EXACTLY RIGHT.

THIS IS HOW I SAW THE RACE, AND I KNOW I HAVE MADE BETTER OBSERVATIONS, BUT NOTHING REALLY STUCK OUT GOOD OR BAD ABOUT THE RACE TODAY.

NOT:

1. THE NATIONAL ANTHEM: I GUESS I AM JUST WAY TO PICKY, BUT IT SEEMS THERE IS A CONTEST AMOUNG THE TRACKS AS TO WHO CAN GET THE WORST PERFORMANCE OF OUR NATIONAL ANTHEM. I HAVE A COPY OF THE STATLER BROTHERS "NATIONAL ANTHEM" THAT I WILL LET NASCAR BORROW TO PLAY OVER THE P.A. SYSTEM AT THE REST OF THE RACES THIS YEAR.

2. MARTIN TRUEX JR.: MARTIN WAS COMING OFF A GREAT RUN AT DAYTOA AND RUNNING REALLY WELL AT THE START TODAY, THEN BOOM, CAR MALFUNCTION AND HE IS DONE FOR THE DAY. I HOPE THIS IS NOT A SIGN OF THINGS TO COME, MARTIN NEEDS A GOOD STEADY SEASON FOR THE FIRST YEAR WITH HIS NEW TEAM.

3. JUAN MONTOYA: HOW DOES THE LINE IN THAT SONG GO "YOUR PUSHIN' TO HARD , YOUR PUSHIN' TO HARD". WHEN YOU BLOW ONE UP THAT EARLY IN THE RACE I THINK IT TELLS ME HE NEEDS TO BACK OFF JUST A TAD. IT WAS ALMOST LIKE HE WAS LISTENING TO THE GUYS IN THE BOOTH, LARRY Mc MENTIONED A POSSIBLE PROBLEM WITH BLOWING UP THE MOTOR AND ABOUT 5 MINUTES LATER JUAN SHOWED US HOW TO DO IT.

4. DALE EARNHARDT JR. : LOUSY LUCK OR JUST A BAD PIECE OF EQUIPMENT, WE MAY NEVER KNOW, BUT JR. SURE DIDN'T HAVE THE DAY HE DID A WEEK AGO. I MEAN HE WASN'T SITTING THE WOODS ON FIRE, BUT HE WAS POSITIONED TO WHERE HE COULD HAVE GOTTEN A DECENT FINISH, THEN HE BREAKS AN AXLE, JUST HOW BAD IS THAT.

5. STEWART-HASS RACING: TONY AND RYAN HAVE BOTH STARTED THIS SEASON IN A VERY POOR MANNER, RYAN WITH 2 DNF'S AND TONY WITH 2 VERY ILL HANDLING CARS. A FEW MOR WEEKS LIKE THESE AND THEY WILL BE ABLE TO USE GENE AUTRY'S SONG "SILVER HAIRED DADDY OF MINE" AS TONY'S THEME MUSIC.

HOT:

5. JOEY LAGANO: THE BOY STARTED THE RACE 19TH AND WORKED HIS TAIL OFF ALL DAY LONG, AND HE WAS REWARDED WITH A NO. 5 FINISH FOR THE DAY. HIS DISAGREEMENT WITH BIFFLE FROM SATURDAY CONTINUED A LITTLE, BUT NOT ENOUGH TO DRAW HIS ATTENTION AWAY FROM THE PRIMARY GOAL OF GETTING A TOP FIVE OR TOP 10 FINISH.

4. MARK MARTIN: MARK CONTINUES TO AMAZE ME EVERY WEEK, HE APPEARS TO BE VERY SOFT, KIND HEARTED, AND FORGIVING, NOT THE TRAITS YOU EXPECT TO FIND IN A TIP TOP DRIVER IN NASCAR OR ANY OTHER RACING ORGANIZATION. I GUESS THAT JUST PROVES THAT JUST BECAUSE YOU WEAR A WHITE HAT DON'T MEAN YOU GONNA FINISH LAST.

3. JEFF BURTON: JEFF WORKS SO HARD TO IMPROVE NOT ONLY HIMSELF BUT ALSO HIS TEAM, IT IS GREAT TO SEE HIM AND HIS RCR TEAMMATES BACK IN THE HUNT. BURTON IS GOING TO WIN AND REGUARDLESS OF WHERE OTHER RCR'S MAY GO JEFF WILL CONTINUE TO CARRY THE RCR BANNER WITH PRIDE.

2. KEVIN HARVICK: I DO BELIEVE THAT KEVIN IS BEGINNING TO REALIZE THAT THE OLD SAYING " GOOD THINGS COME TO THOSE WHO WAIT" IS A TRUE STATEMENT. MOST OF LAST YEAR KEVIN SUCKED, THEN RIGHT NEAR THE END THINGS STARTED TO IMPROVE THEN A GOOD FINISH AT DAYTONA AND A 2ND TODAY HAS PUT KEVIN IN THE CATBIRD'S SEAT. I'M GLAD THAT KEVIN IS IMPROVING AND MAYBE STARTING TO MOVE OUT FROM UNDER THE TITLE OF "THE GUY THAT TOOK BIG DALE'S PLACE".

1. JIMMIE JOHNSON: TALK ABOUT A SUPER DUPER REBOUND, A WORSE THEN LOUSY FINISH AT DAYTONA AND SORT OF BACK AND FORTH TODAY AND THEN A LUCKY BREAK ON THE CAUTION AND HE GETS THE WIN. JIMMIE AND THE 48 CREW PROVED AGAIN TODAY THE THE BEST CURE FOR A LOUSY RACE IS TEAMWORK, BELIEF IN EACH OTHER AND LISTENING TO EACH OTHER.

WELL FOLKS THAT IS HOW I SAW THE RACE, I DO NEED TO SAY THAT SCOTT SPEED DID A VERY GOOD JOB TODAY AND A FEW MORE RUNS LIKE TODAY'S AND I MIGHT HAVE TO RETRACT MY STATEMENT ABOUT THEY NEED TO GET RID OF HIM. I HOPE A FEW AGREE AND EVEN IF YOU DON'T LET ME KNOW WHAT YOU THINK AND WE WILL SEE IF WE CAN FIND SOME COMMON GROUND SOMEHWERE BETWEEN THE TWO.

THAT'S MY OPINION - WHAT'S YOURS

  1. Hey GUNNY! Great H/N...hard to actually know what is going on from the pits but I'd say Kurt was HOT for overcoming a 15th place car at best to finish 6th. He and Addington are starting to gel...

  2. I agree about the Anthem. Today, it sounded more like a funeral dirge. If you want an Anthem that rocks, check out this video(just ignore Ed McMahon at the beginning)

Anyone who doesn't get goosebumps listening to that, well I'll let you fill in the rest.

  7. I am still questioning how JJ got out of the pits to get in front of the cars already on the track ahead of him.

  8. PHOTOGR:

I AM NOT POSITIVE EITHER, BUT MY UNDERSTANDING WAS THAT HE GOT INTO THE PITS BEFORE THE CAUTION CAME OUT THUS ALLOWING HIM TO CONTINUE, BUT THE CARS ON THE TRACK WERE FROZEN IN SPOT WHEN THE CAUTION CAME OUT THEREFORE HE WAS AHEAD OF THEM WHEN HE CAME OUT OF THE PITS.

I AM NOT SURE THAT IS HOW IT HAPPENED, BUT THAT WAS WHAT I UNDERSTOOD WHAT HAPPENED.

  9. Gunaquat, good H/N as usual. Harvick's going to get that first win in 3+ years, and once he gets that win, look the heck out. He could end up getting them in bunches, make the Chase, and quite possibly wrest the title from JJ. I think what will benefit Harvick is a very limited NNS and Trucks schedule. (He's only going to run a handful of races in both series this year, and only when one or both series are in the same track as Cup.)

  10. JON:

THANKS FOR STOPPING BY, AIN'T IT AMAZING HOW MUCH SMARTER WE GET AS WE GET OLDER. HIM CENTERING ON ONE THING MAY VERY WELL BE JUST THE TICKET TO THAT CHAMPIONSHIP.

  11. Where have I been? Six days from the posting of this? Must have been out in the Facebook land. hahaha

Don't worry about Stewart-Haas Racing. (That is what I am telling myself, lol) The new team blues is finally set in. Stewart and Grubb will get their act together. Newman and Glover will get it turned around too. By April when the tracks start to heat up, so will Stewart-Haas Racing.
